How can I set a picture of myself as my Avatar?

You must have at least 50 posts for a custom avatar.

In the meantime, you can select one of the stock avatars. Go to My Profile; the option is in there.

Is there anyway someone can take my avatar and resize it to the maximum size allowed for an avatar? It's kind of small.[&:]

The maximum size for an avatar is 145x145. Try turning down the qulity rating a bit on your photo so you can make it bigger and still be under 10k.

There are some free avatar making programs on the internet, perhaps some members will post them for you.

I use IrfanView for resizing photos. When I am making an avatar picture, I uncheck all the boxes for the program remembering stuff about the picture like when it was taken and blah blah blah. The computer remembering extra stuff about your photo takes up some space. There is also a bar that slides down for the quality. I think I have it at 70 right now.

It is a free program so I'm sure you can find somewhere to download it from.
