Somehow, I already knew that. You don't have to be ecumenical to convene a council of The Church to delcare something a heresy and/or someone a heretic. Jesus gave the Church the keys of the Kingdom...the authority to bind and to loose. Not individual denominations or Believers. There are no lone rangers in the Kingdom of God.

Who said that I only think my church is saved? I dont' think that nor does my church think that. But that doesn't mean that churches should coperate with the JWs and the Mormons and the Catholics and the seventh Day advintest and the way out there liberal churches.

Well there is an entier tread on Calvinist vs Arminist so I won't get to much into it.
God is Soverigin, Predistination is clearly taught in the Bible. But man has a choice and is responsible for the choice he makes. Greater theologians then I (and I by no means am even pretending to be theologian let alone great) have tried to reconcile the two. I perfer to leave them as they are. Both taught in the Bible, and some how they work out in how God does things.

Fair enough. And thank you for answering my question. So, if Adam and Eve had a choice, then they could have chosen NOT to sin.

So all this trashing of JE is based upon the PUBLIC forum at RH?

Has anyone READ the books?

Are you kidding?? Quotes and teachings from Eldredge have been provided and discussed at length. Ditto earthless's response: Read the thread.

In other words, No, very few folk here have read the books. And, BTW, the quote from the book Captivating actually starts on page 113, wraps over to page 114, and stops just short of Stasi and John Eldredge quoting several verses from Scripture (primarily the Gospels), explaining and offering much clarity for their thesis statement.

The above will make better sense if you read the thread.

Again, in other words, the quotes from Eldredge have been taken, primarily, from web-sites and critics of his books and his teachings that could be best described as detractors rather than from someone who has actually read the books in toto and/or attended any of the retreats.

These quotes have also been grossly out of context.

Those who have attended the retreats and read the books (ALL of the books) have been summarily dismissed as not knowing or understanding what they've read or heard in light of the out-of-context quotes and teachings provided by the cw forumites, above.

At the behest of my Husband, I have deleted my posts.

I am encouraged by the zeal and the desire for right teaching that this next generation displays within the Church! God be praised!

Aoi.

That's a ridiculous excuse to delete your posts, but it's a great excuse to take one last swing at people here. If you were confident that your arguments were valid and correct, there should have been no problem letting them stand.

Obviously you are not willing to stand behind your own words.

Edited to reflect post #306's edit.

Are you questioning my submission to my Husband???

Again...you are speaking about that which you know nothing about, lw9. And, if you look carefully, I edited my words as they were unduly unkind and unbrotherly.

My Husband saw that this argument was unhealthy for me spiritually, as well as in other ways and asked me to delete my posts. So I did. I should think you would do the same if you had a right Christian Marriage and submitted everything you did to your Husband.

And if anyone is swinging at others here, you are.

I should think you would take this to the Lord, pray about it, and reconsider your attitude towards me as an Older Woman in the Church (re-read 1Timothy in this regard). Didn't your Mama teach you better manners than this?

Aoi.

She already said she removed them as they were unkind. Please move on. Do not quote posts that include parts of another post that have been edited out. Thank you.

All, please leave out advice that has not been asked for (tos 9) Telling someone the reason they deleted their posts is ridiculous or telling them they need to learn manners (even with a winky face) is a violation of TOS 9.

Move on.

Well, one thing is for certain the poster that asked that question has not read this thread. 'Nuff said.

Lw, have you read his books so that you can put his teachings in the full context of what he's speaking about and not just read quotes out of context? That's makes a huge difference.

Again, lw, have you read all of his books? Have you read even one of them? If not, then you really cannot speak about what he teaches and you would thoroughly not understand any of the quotes you pull off websites.

Out of context sums it up for me. Either they do not get it, or they do not need to get it.

I read Captivating and part of Wild at Heart. Couldn't stomach finishing it. But it's been a long time and I got rid of the books so I can't quote either one.

IMO, rather than detractors taking things out of context, proponents have jumped on a subjective bandwagon. Feelings and experiences are valued above the objectivity of God's Word. "The Fairy Tale makes us feel good so we'll wrap it up in some Scripture and sell it to Christians."

Well, that may well describe some of the folk that have become a part of RH and the RH "world", so to speak. But it hardly describes me. I have a very high view of Scripture, indeed, as I have said before. I am not an existential Believer by any means; I believe Scripture to be inerrant, infallible; it is entirely trustworthy and without error. Therefore, we are to believe and obey its teachings. The Bible is the only source of special revelation for the church today. Which, if you took the time to get to know me outside of this thread, you would know. I invite you to do so. PM me anytime...

Aoi.

I am most certainly glad to know that about you, Aoi. And thank you for the kind offer. I regret that the extensiveness of my current correspondence prohibits me from undertaking any additional dialog. It would be both disrespectful and bad manners to begin something that I know in advance I would be unable to continue. But, again, thank you.
