This is a good Christian Metal/HxC playlist. 1. A Proclamation of Evil's Fate - The Showdown 2. Strength Within - War of Ages 3. Into Oblivion - Becoming the Archetype 4. Saints - Destroy the Runner 5. Everyone Looks So Good from Here - Underoath 6. The Siren's Song - Oh, Sleeper 7. Making Waves - Life In Your Way 8. And Shot Each Other - The Chariot 9. Caution, Dangerous Curves Ahead - Maylene and the Sons of Disaster 10. Oceans Away - Chasing Victory 11. Composure - August Burns Red 12. The Minor Prophets - Haste the Day Plus if you can find any of the old Underoath stuff, it's really good.

I wish we had more of a Christian Metal station around here. We do have a Christian station, but it's like pop/rock stuff like that. Don't feel bad, most of us are in that boat (judging from forum comments about Christian radio). Unless you're in a major market, either nationally (like New York) or Christian wise (like Dallas, a huge market but even bigger from a Christian perspective). Or blessed.

ORIGINAL: MoshForChrist Does anyone know of any good Christian Symphonic Metal bands? These are the only two I know of. 7 Days and Venia. Edit: While I'm here.... Anyone know any good Black Folk or Black Melodic Metal bands (also known as viking metal I believe) I don't like stuff like As I lay Dying but I love stuff like Holy Blood (amazing Christian black folk metal band. Wish they sang in english though), Illuminandi (amazing Christian gothic classical folkish sounding metal band... not quite black metal level but close enough... lots of growls and screams still), or Slechtvalk (originally Christian black folk metal band but concider themselves neutral). Another favorite of mine and not Christian, they consider themselves neutral on religion as well, Eluveitie and should give you a better idea of more of what I'm looking for. These guys are fantastic!!!! Also Ensiferum... When it comes to stuff like Power metal and symphonic metal, noone can beat the secular greats like Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Tristania etc so I kinda gave up looking for that type of stuff in Christian music. But as for Black Folk/Classical/Goth Metal groups... they can hold their up their own very well!!!

I posted this in another thread, but I am on a real power/symphonic/folk metal kick. I've been listening to a lot of Edenbridge, Nightwish, Epica, Midnattsol, Opeth, Amorphis, Vanden Plas, Leaves' Eyes, Tristania, etc. lately. Two bands I have really come to like are Angra and Wuthering Heights.

AILD is still a Christian band, and their new stuff is pretty good. Here are more awesome Christian metal/HxC: War of Ages, Becoming the Archetype, blessthefall, Chiodos, The Devil Wears Prada, Framing Hanley, Parkway Drive, and Still Remains.

I am partial to Barren Cross and Bloodgood. Of course if you want proto-metal, try Glen Swartz and the All Saved Freak Band.

Been in the mood for harder, more aggressive stuff lately though but this is still nice to relax too... Listening to alot of Blind Guardian, Turisas, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Demons & Wizards, Iced Earth, AleStorm (which is like... Pirate metal lol...) etc...

I was supposed to see Symphony X/Epica this past weekend in Houston, but family duties kept me from it. I have 17th row seats for Iron Maiden's Houston show next month. Eluveitie and Ensiferum are scheduled to play Houston next month, but my daughter has a dance reicital I must attend. There are two big shows I plan to attend later in the year: Nightwish/Sonata Arctica and Amorphis/Leaves' Eyes/Samael/Virgin Black. I just read an interesting blurb in the newest Revolver magazine. The guy who did a documentary on the black metal scene is getting ready to do one on the Christian black metal scene. Should be interesting...

The best ones though IMO are As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Underoath, Showbread, and The Chariot is the most brutal band. So for beginning get: Composure -August Burns Red Define the Great Line - UnderOath No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical - Showbread The Chariot - The Fiancee

Eluveitie and Ensiferum... talk about awesome. Dang... Sonata Arctica and Nightwish... *sigh*... oh well. I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with my concert DVDs for now.

I'm not really a fan of kutless and the like but I really like Skillet. Particularly their album Collide. Comatose is pretty good but it gets a little too angsty for my taste and a bit cheesy. Their older stuff is good if you like more electronic sounding rock with synths and stuff.
