(lol) I completely understand!

I live here again because this is where my family is. Whatever possessed anyone to build a city out here in the middle of nowhere? A place that you can could on to get over 120 on a daily basis after a certain day ... which is rapidly approaching btw ...

Yeah yeah yeah ... they say because it's good for arthritis and for TB ... but really? Is it? Or are people so concerned about staying cool they quit worrying about anything else?

Just something to ponder while climbing trees here in the hundred acre wood.

At least I can always decide what kind of day it will be in the hundred Acre. People are going to think I'm nuts in the summer when I have it raining for like 11 consecutive days in here. LOL. Yeah, I'm here for family and friends too. My parents moved here in 79 because of my asthma. It worked, it is much better here.
BTW- The body of Christ is a pretty small place once your around for awhile, I would not be surprised if we knew some of the same people. Weird huh.

When I first moved back I thought it was, well, you know h*ll for sure ... and not just because of the weather. I had a really hard time finding other believers ... very odd. But God took really good care of me, like He always does. Now I see and run into believers all over the place.

Went to a few churches, had a few rather interesting experiences (in my life I have gone from New Age to Buddist to ultra-conservative Baptist ... all right here in the Valley ... LOL), went through a period of time where I thought everyone around here was obsessed with getting drunk on a nightly basis. But then I realized it was just the people I worked with. So I quit that job. That was three years ago. Things are significantly better now.

God is good!!!

There are some really awesome churches here in the Valley. If you aren't settled where you are and are looking PM me and I would be happy to recommend a few.
Yeah the people you are around can really affect your take on things.

Nadine ...

(Nadine and I are practically neighbors, her hubby used to work in the building where I currently work, and we were discussing The Statue outside the building. It's, well, let's just say many people have their pictures taken with him. )

I so love that statue ... drive past it every day when I leave the office. I particularly enjoy when they dress him up in a Suns uniform. It protects my eyes from such intimate details.

The first time I saw it, I was not expecting it. At all. I was driving down the road, got caught at a red light, looked around innocently ... and. there. he. was.

In all his n*ked glory. Oh!!!!

I'm kinda used to it now, and avert my eyes. But one day when I was walking on my break, I observed another woman walking from the opposite direction. Gazing around. Taking in all the new sites. And then she saw him. This was her:

I laughed all afternoon about the series of expressions that crossed her face.

Oh my! I have to admit, now I'm extremely curious!

If you (anyone) ever get a chance, watch the Dick Van Dyke Show episode "October Eve". Your story above reminded me of this episode, which I just watched recently (I have the DVD's). It's wonderfully hilarious - I won't give it away, but it's really terrific.

I didn't realize you two were so close. Arizona, right?

Are you going to come up to the GT next month? Either? Both? Together? Whatever? Maybe you already said, but my memory is pretty much like a sieve these days.

Yes, we're both in the Phoenix area. I think I have a picture of me with The Statue. LOL I'll see if I can find it and email it to you.

I'm not going to be able to make it to the GT

Pam, you're going again this year, right?

It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small, small world!

I just had to do that. Did you know that Small World debuted at the New York World's Fair in 1964 and "I was there"? Yep, I went with a neighbor and her mother. I was 10.

Did you two know each other meeting here on the forums?

We just met here.

Hey, Pam, I was at the NY World's Fair in 1964 too! There are pictures somewhere at my dad's house. Course, I was kinda little, in a stroller and all ... is it possible that our paths crossed way back then?!

Get out! Are you kidding me! That's amazing! I have a picture too, of me with a clown that was there, Emmet Kelley Jr. This is just wild!

It is a small world, isn't it?

Nadine, which conversation are you saying you missed? Bring it up and we'll talk about it here, too! 'Cause, you know, we all sorta like to talk.

The conversation was about highlighting or other wise marking in your bible or other books.

When I got married I had never written in a book. not a line, not an underline. Well, I married a bible student, he was in his last year. The first time I saw the inside of his bible I was aghast. I love books, I have way too many of them. I could not believe he would do that to any book, let alone the Bible. But I started doing it too, after a while and the Bible I had before this one I had for 10 years and it was a rainbow of colors with notes all in the margins. It took me about a year to transition to my new Bible (Which is now over 10 yrs old)I was so attached to it. Here is where I am going with all this. When I had the pleasure of leading my younger sister to the Lord, I gave her that Bible. About two years later we were talking about it and she said the first thing she did, was go through and read all that I had highlighted and that it had been a huge blessing to her, so that is what I was thinking about when I read the posts over in the Den last night. I'm so glad ya'll know me over there. LOL.

THAT is a beautiful story! How very, very cool, Nadine.

After reading through that again, I just wanted to mention there are five of us, 4 girls and my brother. Three of us are Christians, but the 2 youngest are not. Their Names are Joline and Ian. Joline is agnostic , and my brother is just plain confused. I am surprised he is not a Christian yet, he has looked into everything else. Please pray for them, if you happen to think of it.

Ok. Not to change topic, but the reason I wanted to see P.S. I Love You is because of who played the guys. The guy that played Gerry (Gerard Butler) was the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. The guy that played William (Jefferey Dean Morgan) played in Grey's Anatomy. Of course Daniel (Harry Connick Jr.) just couldn't be missed.

I really enjoyed it though. I'm thinking about buying it.

I've never been married, engaged, or dated 'seriously'. However I hope to one day be in love with somebody so much that I can't picture the rest of my life without them.

Good evening Terri, well you know what good 'ole James Dobson said "don't marry the one that you think that you can live with, but the one who you cannot do without."

Now, is that movie on cable? Perhaps I will check it out sometime.
