I have the Canon Powershot A710. I just went to Canon's site to look (why I don't know, just for giggles I guess) and guess what, they don't make it anymore!

But I'm like SharMar. I know only what I need to know to take pictures.

I have Canon Powershot A40 and like you I can only take pictures and upload them. I have been trying to figure out how to change the size forever.

Nadine, you should be able to "open with" whatever photo program you have, and in that program, pull down "edit" or "picture" menu or something like that and there should be something like "resize" where you should be able to do that. Does that help?

Thanks Pammy, I've been told that I can actually change the size on my camera. I see it in the menu (on the camera) but I have no idea how to change it. I need to download the instructions manual since it is in a box in the garage and I don't know which one.

See, I wouldn't want to do that, because I love the size they are. I like to put my pictures in a folder for my screen saver, for instance, and they take the size of the whole monitor. And also for uploading and sharing.

I keep the size as it is, copy the photo, paste it in another folder I've created, and resize the copy.

But of course, to each his own!

Pammy,
That is a very sweet picture of your Mom BTW. It reminds me of one taken of my MIL in 1949. The hair style is similar.

Thanks! That's probably about when this was taken. It's from one of those photo booth strips. She was just so incredibly lovely. Not that I'm biased or anything.

I'm also really enamored of those styles and times.

The 30's and 40's are my favorite's in the 20th Century. Other Centurys intrigue me more, reading about them anyway.

That picture would make a very nice painting. They have places where you can take a portrait and they will paint it. You have her smile BTW.

Elegant classiness . . . that's what I think of when I think of those eras.

I'm thinking around 1945. That picture was given to me by a lady I just happened to meet who told me she had been an old classmate and friend of my mother's. And since my mother was born in 1927, I just did the math, and since she would have graduated high school in 1945 . . . well, maybe.

Yes, her beauty never ceases to amaze me too!

Not sure I need to think so much as clear my mind ...

I thought I was clicking on something in He Says, you know see what the guys are saying about questions us gals are asking, and was, well, a bit confused. Then I realized I clicked in the Men's Only.

Now, it wasn't anything really bad, but ooops. No wonder I was so confused about the conversation.

(don't worry ... I only got as far as the OP and thought it was a really strange question for a woman to be asking ... which is when I realized my error )

Maybe I'll hang upside down on that tree over there for a bit.

So speaking of digital cameras...how big is the quality between say, a 5megapixel and an 8 megapixel?

My previous camera (now resting in pieces) was like 1.something. the pictures were pretty decent (nothing professional mind you).

I'm looking to get a new one but wanted to implore your input.

If you intend to make prints of 8 by 10 or larger get the most megapixels you can afford. However, if you only intend to put them on the web or your computer or small prints then a 5 megapixel will do.

Another thing is 7 or 8 megapixels is the standard in new point and shoot cameras.

Oh no Nadine! I hope your day gets better!!!

Did you get rain at your place yesterday? It rained at the munchkin's school over on the west side, but nothing in downtown.

I looooove the smell of the desert rain. It's my most favorite smell in the world.

I brought fruit smoothies today. They have mango, strawberries, banana and a little pineapple for sweetness.

Yum! I love smoothies!

Nope no rain. The clouds did spit on my car though. Just enough to make the dirt show up better.

I know what you mean about the desert rain. I really love the monsoons.

My Hubby used to explain to me something about the lightning and electro something that actually made you feel better, I don't know, I don't get that stuff. Sounded good though, when He said it it made sense.

All the laughter from the snarki thread and the Den must have released some endorphins in my brain.
