PawPaw -> If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 12:20:51 PM)

If you could go back in time and see some groups in person that you were unable to see, who would it be?

My choices:

1. The Original Hinsons - Kenny, Larry, Ronnie, Yvonne
Kenny, Larry, Ronnie, Chris
Kenny, Eric, Ronnie, Yvonne
Kenny, Bo, Ronnie, Yvonne

2. The Happy Goodman Family - Howard, Vestal, Rusty, Sam

3. The Rambos - Dottie, Reba, Buck

4. The Paynes - Mike, Loreen, Keith, Bill

5. The Hemphills - Joel, LaBreeska, Candy, Joey, and Trent

In fact, a concert with all five groups...CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!

Dinana -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 12:28:48 PM)

I'd like to see:

N'Harmony
Cathedrals
Perfect Heart
Singing Americans

PaulPate -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 12:48:19 PM)

I've been privileged to see all of the above except The Paynes and N'Harmony. Two groups that I would like to have heard would be the original Speers with Mom and Dad Speer, and the Rangers. Of those I've seen and would like to see again, the list would be very long, but would surely include The Happy Goodmans, The Dixie Echoes with Dale Shelnut and Larry Ford, The Hemphills, and Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters.

MissGizmo -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 12:55:53 PM)

I also have been privileged to see all of the above & many more except for N'Harmony.

being both a Kingsmen fan and Alabama fan, I wish I could have been at Live At University of Alabama recording

Seaton -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 1:56:45 PM)

Groups/Line-ups that I never had a chance to see but would've liked to. I have been privileged to see most of the Southern Gospel greats from the early '80s forward.

*Hinsons w/ Kenny, Chris, Larry & Ronny (I did get a chance to see the Kenny, Bo, Yvonne & Ronny line-up).

*Hemphills from early 70's w/ Joel, LaBreeska, Tim & Dixie (I saw the Joel, LaBreeska, Candy, Joey & Trent line-up)

*Downings - from the music I own, one of my favorite groups of the early '70s.

*Oak Ridge Boys - Line-up of the late '60s/early '70s.

*Rambos - from the early to mid '70s.

Ah yes...

This was in my original thought for the thread, but it slipped my mind when I started typing.

I would have loved to have seen:

The Kingsmen - Jim Hammill, Ed Crawford, Gary Shepherd, Ray Reece, Arthur Rice, Anthony Burger, Gary Dillard, Greg Fox

DeeAnnBailey -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 2:33:29 PM)

I sat and read these posts and realized how forunate I've been. I've seen almost every verison of the Kingsmen and was at many of their live recordings including Live at the University of Alabama.

I saw the Hinsons live more times than I can count in all 'assortments'. The same with the Goodmans, Hinsons, and Hemphills(both lineups). I've seen the Rambos numerous times and the Paynes several tims. I saw every grouping of the Cathedrals, saw Perfect Heart dozens of times and used to see the Singing Americans (both the original 70s group & the later group) many times and was at the Kentucky live recording of theirs.

I have been to many Speers concerts, saw the Dixie Echoes with Dale repeated times as well as Larry Ford, not only saw Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters but went to church with them.

I saw some of the older Blackwoods but not the original. I saw the Statemen and Stamps, the Rebels (both with and without Jim Hamill), London Parris and the Apostles, the Orrells, the Downings, the Oak Ridge boys (over and over again).

I'm sure there is a group that I didn't see that I might would have liked to but I honestly can't think of one.

MissGizmo -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 3:33:06 PM)

DeAnn I can say that I did have a chance to see the original Blackwoods before the plane crash that took RW's life. I remember them flying into Owosso, Michigian for the concert.

Mom & Pop Spear used to come to Roanoke very often when I first moved here. I remember Brian Spear, Allisons husband, when he was just a little boy sitting on the front row at the old Calvery Tabernacle being a very good little boy.

Dale Shelnut & the Dixie Echoes was a regular at the concerts that uesd to be held in the Salen Civic Center. Long before Randy was married. Dale used to say he took all of the children with him when he left home. He had Randy Allred, Randy & Andy Sheltnut travling as regulars at the time.

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/29/2008 3:45:59 PM)

The Cathedrals with George Younce, Glen Payne, George Amon Webster, Roy Tremble, and Haskell Cooley - IMO their best lineup! I have seen some video clips of this lineup on Youtube but that isn't quite the same as seeing them in person.

All I can say is "WOW!"

We have some recordings of the Hinsons from a hand held tape recorder from when her wife and sisters used to attend so many of the Hinson concerts in the 80's...also several picture albums FULL of Hinson memorabalia.

You just named all mine. [:D] Those are exactly the ones on the top of my list that I'd love to see. I'll add Heaven Bound, The Singing Americans, and the Downings.

H.L. -> RE: If you could go back in time... (4/30/2008 5:11:49 PM)

I would like to have seen:
The Cathedrals with Mark and Danny
Gold City with Brian, Mike and Ivan
Gold City with Mark, Jay and Jonathan
Greater Vision with Mark and Chris
Kingsmen with Ernie Phillips

pittsgirl -> RE: If you could go back in time... (5/1/2008 4:02:50 AM)

I am older than dirt but sadly, I never saw the original Blackwood Bros. One of my brothers had a record of them that we listened to a lot. Of the others mentioned here, the Paynes and N'Harmony are the only ones I haven't seen at least once in my lifetime. Good Memories!

dbmurray -> RE: If you could go back in time... (5/2/2008 10:16:16 PM)

I'd go to Murray State in the mid-1970s to hear the Stamps in their prime.
