Interesting article about the dangerous Latter Rain/Kingdom Now group called "The Elijah List".

It documents the numerous FALSE prophecies that have come from this group just since 2004. Many of the usual Latter Rain suspects are mentioned (Wagner, Bickle, Clement, Cain, Joyner, Sorger, Jones, Engle, etc)

I know many of these false prophets believe that prophecy does not have to be 100% accurate. But, what does Scripture have to say about that?

Your thoughts on this group?

Poison! A slippery slope to go down, reading one thing after another that is false, but claimed to be from God.

I don't have time to dig quotes right now, but I've noticed that many have moved away from predictive prophecies that they can get caught on and moved into announcing this move of God and that season of time etc that are so vague as to be proveable and unproveable at the same time.-(editing to say "seemingly proveable")

Also, if a gimmick sticks with the audience, they will build on it. Recurring themes seem to validate one another.

This stuff will not satisfy. There is always a seeking of the next issue to get the "latest" word.

I wish I had time to go into detail, but I don't. Here's what can be found on the Elijah List:

- False prophets
- False apostles
- False teachers
- False signs, wonders, and miracles
- False theology

As Soxfan pointed out, they are Latter Rain followers, many being in the New Apostolic Reformation movement, which falls under Latter Rain.

After just reading the list of goofballs you posted, I feel the need to go and do 35 hail mary's, and 22 stations of the Cross; and I am not even Catholic.

So I guess a thorough shower will have to do.

A big 10-4 on everything you listed.

So many "words"--they seem to be at odds...could any be (yikes!)...false? Don't worry about any 'false prophecy' on the elijah list.

Why? Steve Schultz has heard from God--or so he says. "God said back to me: "It's true. My Prophets across the world HAVE entered into complete agreement."

Found on this page from October 29, 2007, Schultz's "revelation" continued with the resulting lesson: "This Prophecy that didn't quite fit was not and is not false prophecy (when it doesn't quite fit), but just slightly off--or as some say, "It was close, but no cigar"

What relief it must be that nothing is wrong when words are contradictory or fail.

That brought a chuckle! I missed that page that you linked Wintery when I checked that place out. There was some even "worse" stuff to on the page that you linked:

quote:

Remember the prophet Agabus, by the way? He prophesied to Paul, and Paul then refused to take Agabus' counsel, even if it might be correct. The same is true today.

Agabus said Paul would be arrested. The fact that Paul was arrested and got sent to Rome to me was a fulfillment of one of Paul's biggest dreams and perhaps the biggest part of his ministry. I don't believe that Paul realized had he not appealed to Caesar he wouldn't have been placed under arrest- it certainly wasn't in the word from Agabus as I read it. I would hardly say that he ignored the advice of Agabus because I don't see where Agabus gave him any advice.

I've been to the Elijah list 2 or 3 times and I'm not impressed with it. There are things that are said that are just as off or worse than what Wintery linked. I did spend some time twice going over what is posted there and probably found a diamond or two in the rough. It was like searching through a dump meticulously in the hope one could find some jewelry or something that got inadvertantly thrown away. Sure I "may" have found a couple of tidbits but I'm not exactly convinced it was worth the effort.

Thank you Howling Wind and Wintery for pointing those things out so I will never again doubt why I don't go to that web site.

I have first hand exposure to this group.

About 6 years ago, some good friends of ours decided to start their own church. One of these friends was an AoG pastor. He tried to bring some of the Brownsville antics as well as Latter Rain theology into his church and was quickly run out. As a result, they began their own church and put themselves under the authority of some self-proclaimed "Apostle". This Apostle was affiliated with C Peter Wagner's heretical New Apostolic Reformation movement.

After many invites, my wife and I decided to go to one of their "services". It didn't take long for us to realize that things weren't right. It was our first exposure to the "Five-Fold"/Latter Rain/Kingdom Now/Signs and Wonders movements as well as the "Elijah List".

Rather than just stop coming, the Lord led us to meet with them and explain our differences with their theology. Our intent was to come in love, agree to disagree, and remain friends. They had different plans. We were called Jezebel spirits and were given the "If you're not with us, your against us" line.

I've seen what the Latter Rain movement has done to these dear friends.

My wife, who has a remarkable gifting in prayer, was told that she could not exercise this spiritual gift unles one of their apostles "imparted" it to her.

I've seen what the Latter Rain movement has done to these dear friends.

Soxfan,

Thank you for sharing - my wife and I have lost a lot of friends and family contact because of our rejection of these movements.

I even had a certain Apostle tell his church that I was demon possessed and would suffer from cancer in the following year (this was six years ago).

Cult starts to come to mind with a lot of these folk.

You guys may recall I have the Elijah List emails forwarded to one of my accounts. There's more there than I have time to read. As a result of having read their material for so long, I could post things that I recall, but I would need to dig up the link for reference.

For the link I posted earlier (yesterday), I went to their "search" page and entered "false prophecy" !!! I only got 3 hits!!! Hilarious!

Once people are hooked on the juice(Elijah List words), it can have a controlling effect on their lives and minds that reminds me of horoscopes.

My buddy and I have asked a friend to bring us the old Elijah List magazines (now Elijah Rain, I think) that his mother subscribes to, and he refuses. He thinks we would just make fun of it and make cartoons out of all the prophets! Silly boy...we wouldn't do that!

You've said it!

I know a couple of people that go around declaring things like "fire holy ghost", "electric baptism", and "signs, miracles, wonders, manifestations of Yahweh" all into my life. In fact, it's pretty much impossible to have a conversation with them at all, because every single thing they say is about "fire" and such.

One kid I am aware of will sit at lunch and just repeat "fire of Yahweh. holy ghost fire" over and over.

Creepy. . .

When you start your day with 2 to 3 hours of real Bible study,
it's hard to watch or listen to any of these guys even for laughs.

I just want to throw up when I hear many of them.

And I used to follow some of them.

what a difference the WORD makes.

The only one I picked up was "Holy Ghost <fill in the blank>" and that was only because of that demon possessed Earthless. ; )

Earthless and Soxfan- your testimony speaks more to me than all of the links combined to the heresy sights. Thank you both for sharing it wasn't what I expected. I expected both of you to be more along the lines of just "quote from this <link here>" types. I was wrong. Just as those who doubted your faith and attempted to mold you into their incorrect vision of christianity were wrong. I am sorry though and had I not simply "assumed" and taken more time to perhaps ask I probably would have picked up on this sooner. We all know what happens when we assume though, right?

Ask of Me for this nation and I'll give you what you need so there will be an economic revival," says the Lord. "Ask of Me, and I'll give it to you. Ask of Me, ask of Me!"

how does he balance this with:

Hab 3:17 - 19 (ESV) 17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. 19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed£ instruments.

I guess old Hab didn't have enough faith to claim his miracle or it was blocked due to his negative confession.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

In the interest of getting the full range of flavor, this link should give you an idea of what kind of event the Elijah List sponsors. (some women from nw AL on this list-one I worked with for years)
