It would get neglected here BUT I can prove the fact that roses love being neglected here.

Cindy,

I don't need to tell you at least 6 hours of sun(preferably afternoon sun) and good drainage right?

Nope, you don't. We already own 6 thriving rose bushes. The front and side flower beds drain just fine, thank you, Jennifer. It's the back yard and barn that don't drain. The front flower bed faces west, hence afternoon sun. We have 4 roses out there and 2 on the side of the house. I'm just not sure if she'd prefer it to be in the front or the side. I personally think the best spot is in the front, but I'll leave it up to her.

Mine too. They graze constantly, but they are all healthy kids at normal weights. Brandon is hypoglycemic too and would be in serious trouble if he couldn't eat, since he gets migraines if his blood sugar drops too low.

Economic Stimulus checks...ours is not here yet and according to the schedule it would have been out last week. I did a little research and found one small article that indicated that the schedule was only accurate if you filed your taxes six weeks before the deadline. If you filed close to the time that taxes were due, your check may not have been deposited yet.

We usually do our early and did ours back in Feb, according to the "schedule", because we didn't direct deposit(we e-filed with H&R) I am assuming it will be mailed out on the 23rd.

We don't have ours yet, and I think Merv set it up for direct deposit. We filed about a week before they were due. Jake and Joe got their refunds weeks ago, but no stimulus deposits.

Can you still claim them as dependents? If you can, even if they work, I read somewhere that they won't get one, PLUS if they are over 17(Which at least one of yours is right?) YOU don't get $$ back.

I hope everyone is having a nice Saturday. This is the first Saturday in a long time where we have not had to go anywhere or do anything. Right now it's nice and sunny out and about 60. It's supposed to rain later though. I slept till after 9:30. The kids are outside playing wiffle ball. I'm still sitting here in my PJ's trying to wake up.The kids were talking about what to do today and DS says, "What about school?" We all look at him and say "It's Saturday" He said "Oh, it is?"

We would have small group tonight but only myself and one other family is available so we aren't doing anything.

Oh, and I emailed my pastor yesterday. You will remember that a couple weeks ago DS interviewed with an elder about taking communion and becoming a member. This week was the session meeting and he was approved. I haven't told him yet. Pastor said that their would be an official letter coming. If the letter comes today I'll let him open it or maybe he will ask someone tomorrow.

Joe didn't make enough to get a stimulus check, but Jake should. It won't come to us, but I've been watching his saving account to let him know when it gets deposited.

Good morning. I woke up at 5:45 like on work days, even though I was late getting to bed. I did go back to sleep...only to have Brandon call my cell phone from 20 feet away just an hour later! He still has not explained why he did this...my bedroom door was even open to allow the a/c to cool my room. The boys were sleeping in the living room since it was cooler than their bedroom, and I think the sun woke them up (there are no curtains in here).

I couldn't get back to sleep again, of course.

I am hungry but afraid to eat. I ate last night and it made me sick all over again.

The boys are working on the dishes. Due to the heat the work at my mom's has been moved to this evening, following dinner. I think that'll work well for us--it'll give me time to get some housework and schoolwork done with their help.

Monday is my grandmother's birthday so we are all going up to take her to lunch after Sunday School.

Noah is at AWANA camp today, and we packed his bag last night so we wouldn't all have to get up. Wouldn't you know Levi and Hannah were both up by 6:30 anyway.

Nick and I are going to see Caspian in a little while. He's been such a brat so far this weekend, I don't really want to take him. But my mom has free tickets from her work, and Nick's birthday present was a movie and ice cream day with Grandma and Grandpa. So I'll just let them deal with him.

Cynthia - Ours was direct deposited too, but my parents haven't gotten theirs yet & I wonder if they're getting a check too How did you find out you would be getting a check instead? Someone told them that they were holding the Social Security ones until the end, but I hadn't heard that. Not sure when they filed, but that could be why they haven't gotten it yet.

Judi - we have tickets to go tonight! I heard it was a bit more violent than the 1st one (which makes sense since the book had more fighting in it too).

We really need to mow the grass today! It's getting really high!!

I was on the IRS web-site looking for information. I read something about how to know if you will be getting direct deposit or a check. According to the IRS, if you had a payment taken out of your refund, you get a check and not a direct deposit. We used Turbo Tax. They take the fee for the Turbo Tax out of your refund, if you request it that way. So we will be getting a check. It is supposed to go out the middle of June.

I was reading in the finance folder of forums and found that when you file with Turbo Tax it takes a different route and goes through a bank.

I filed with Turbo Tax, but I qualified for free file, so I guess that is why I got mine already. Well, that and the fact that the Lord knew I needed that money!

Brandon is hanging pink sheets in the living room windows, lol. Sooooo white trash but sooooo worth it today!

Ellie, praying all goes well with the oncologist. keep an eye on this, take care of yourself.

I got my software yesterday-

I did some playing...

SIL and baby before
SIL and baby after

Harrison before
Harrison after

I started out with images that I REALLY liked to begin with. I still like both images (before and after) but for different reasons.

I expected my boys, Brandon especially, to be painfully thin, because their dad was. He was six foot three inches upon graduation and weighed 145 lbs!!

(Ugh..>I lost a whole long post when the electricity flickered!!!!)
I don't know if it is you I have talked about this with, but it is someone here online that I have discussed this with before. Anyway....
when my parents got married my dad was 6'3" and weighed a whopping 120 lbs!!! She managed to "fatten" him up a bit to about 135 lbs...and he stayed there for a good ten years or so. Then he got a desk job when he turned 30 and it caught up to him....he put on more weight then and I think looked healthier at 220 lbs or so. (He got up to 250 at one point, but lost back down and looked best IMO at about 220). Anyway, back in his really skinny days he used to joke that he didn't dare stand on the street corner too long or they would have a wire on his nose and call him a telephone poll....lol. HERE is a pic of him when I was 3yo and he was about 135....HERE is one 8 years later (about 220 there).

food....my kids take after Paul in appetite, and they can EAT!!!!! What Zoe described as "packing it in" is a normal amount for our 8yo son. When he is really really hungry (or packing it on to grow) he can out-eat me on a pregnant hungry all the time day!!! Hannah has always been like that too, but she takes more after Paul and is so small and skinny...it is insane!!!! Emma is the only one that doesn't eat so much, but she definitely eats a healthy amount...Jack (about half her size) though eats about what she does typically. Hannah used to crack us up though when she was little (like 2yo)....she would wake up in the morning and immediately out of her mouth all in one breath she would say "I Awake....I HUNGRY!!! She said it every morning, and it was so funny every time......ahhh memories!!!

my mom says that when my older brother graduated and moved off to colege that the grocery budget went down by HALF...with just him!!!!! (And that was with several other teenagers left in the house still!!!)

ours should have been this past week, but we haven't gotten it either...and we filed in January before most people even got their W-2's in!!!

that might be the problem with ours then....we filed with H&R Block (not rapid refund) but they take their fee out of the refund...so if that's the case then we won't get ours til July!!!! Oh well...whenever we get it we are buying a refrigerator with part of the money.

Brandon did that...when he was two! He really was very skinny at that point (except his cheeks, lol) and he moved so much and his stomach was so small he just could not eat enough in one sitting. So he would eat all day long. But he still could not eat enough to get through the night. For weeks he would wake up at 2 a.m. and have a PB&J and a glass of milk and go back to sleep.

Jody weighs about 250-265 now, and it is too much for him. (Sarah, I agree your dad looks much better in the second pic!) However, one of the reasons he weighs that much is because of his blood sugar issues and his unwillingness to take care of himself. He was a healthy weight when we were married. He gained some after marrying his second wife and then quite a bit more while being a bachelor. Interestingly, his g/f or what-have-you...Donna, is it you who said she's a Floozy? LOL...has recently had lap band surgery. I hope he does not take that route, as it is extremely unhealthy and dangerous.

All that to say that it's nice to see Brandon learning how his eating affects his body. I don't think either of my kids will have food issues. Nate has my bone structure so it will be interesting to see what his body type turns out to be, but since he will NOT eat unless he is actually hungry, I know whatever weight he ends up at will be right for him.

If I read the IRS web site properly, if a person can be claimed as a dependent on their parents return (even if they were not claimed as a dependent) they will not receive a stimulus check. I interpreted this to mean that my two college students would not receive stimulus checks.

We will only receive the "extra" $300.00 per chiild for our one child under age 17.

Speaking of planting two rosebushes...

We bought two "old" bushes on clearance from Costco. They did not appreciate being planted. I don't think that the main bushes are going to make it, but the grafts are putting up shoots. These should be interesting.

That's too bad if that's the way it works. He's the one who could use the stimulus check the most. I thought we were getting 600 each for Merv and I and 300 for Joe. College students must be in a catch 22 situation if the parents don't get the 300 but the students don't get a stimulus check either.

We're working on the flower beds in front of the house today. Last fall we took out some ugly, overgrown bushes and had a landscaper draw up a plan. It was a free service that a local nursery offers. It took forever for him to draw up the plans and then he didn't listen to what we wanted. We're using some of his ideas and winging it on the rest. I hope it works out. Anyway, it will look better that it did before we tore out the bushes.

Nate has been in Jukido for just over a year now. When he started, we bought him a size 1 gi and it was overly large and so I put four-inch hems in the sleeves and legs. Well, a couple months back I took out the hems. On Thursday I had to buy him a new gi! It's a size 2..so I told him to go put it on so I could mark the hems...only he doesn't need any.
