Tracy, like the others said, jump on in and join in! Nicole, as somebody else who've had rib problems, please see a doctor. I didn't see one for ages, and I could have got help a lot sooner. Remember I ended up having cracked a rib and not knowing?

Ok, so trying to keep up in here is alot. I love this site. I hope everybody is well, and Nicole, hope you are just sleeping the wrong way with your pain. I have been having some of the same issues, but in different spots. We are getting a new bed when we move so I hope that helps. The mattress I am sleeping on is almost 13 years old. Hey Beth! How is the job search going? How many days until you are back in the states now? Thanks for the compliment Stacy. Sarah had to fix it to make it fit. I don't know what I did to it, but couldn't get my pic in. My battery is dying so I will check in later when I find my power cord.

Nicole, thanks for praying! Beth, we saw Iron Man and loved it! Tracy, we have a new mattress that is super comfy, but I still sleep weird at times. I usually wake up sleeping on my side with one arm under me, or with both arms above my head. It is very annoying.
Not feeling much better today. I had a hard time sleeping last night because it feels like my chest is being sat on and crushed. I had to sleep on my sore shoulder to make that feeling go away which wasn't very comfy, but at least I could breathe a bit better. I really hope this chiropractor can do something to help tonight. Or at least suggest something for me to do cuz it isn't much fun feeling like my chest is being sat on making it hard to breathe. Not fun at all.

((Nicole))- good luck with the chiro...is this the place you've been to before or a new one? Ugh...I have 2 appointments today, then a meeting across town from 6-7pm, with 3 hours to kill in the middle. No real point to going home, so maybe I'll hit the Goodwill on the way and browse around there for a while. I need to clean out my car now that I'll hopefully be driving the same one for a while. All of my toys are scattered around and I can never find what I want when I go digging.

What about a nice theraputic massage? If your doc orders PT, then your insurance should cover it.

I am going to ask him if I should get a deep tissue massage even though I hate the idea of getting one done. I don't find it relaxing having someone touch me so I would make sure Lorne could come in with me. What does PT mean? Oh, and our insurance covers massages if they are needed.

Sorry, yes Physical Therapy. I can't really relax during a massage either, but I have this woman who is great at it and gets me as close as she can to relaxation. My body just always seems to be in defense mode though. But if it is because of your sleeping, then it might help. I sleep on my side and my arm ends up tucked under me and I wake up in total pain. Sometimes I use a heating pad and that helps too. When I start to feel a release, I stretch.

Beth hopefully you hear about the job soon!! That's the thing with kids isn't it, you love them but you are so glad that you don't have to deal with the behaviour, listening to my friends who are still teaching I sometimes think "I would love to be back teaching" but then I hear the horror days and say "uhhh nah, being home with my 2 bubba's is much better!". I keep having horrible dreams lately. Last night I dreamt hubby left me for some girl and they were in the supermarket and I had to help him and I was trying to hold his hand or grab him and get him to look at me and not her but he wouldn't and my heart felt so sad and then I was in their house and I was snooping trying to find something to prove she was a horrible person. I hate dreams that when you wake feel so real.

NicoleAU, I'm sorry that you are having such horrible dreams. NicoleCN, take it easy on those ribs. Rib injuries are SO painful as you already know. I daresay it'll take quite some time for them to fully recover. Beth, I hope you hear about the job soon.

Hi Jennifer. Having a bit of a rough time at the moment. Getting pretty emotional and feeling depressed at the moment. I go to see a specialist on Monday. I think all the emotion etc is just from being sick of being in so much pain all the time.

Well, I went to the chiropractor tonight. She popped that rib back in place... but it popped back out right away... ouch... She said it will take a few more times to get it to stay. It is messed up from my shoulder being messed up. I think it may be from my dog pulling while taking him for a walk the other day. He rarely pulls, but he was worked up over a crazy dog so he pulled hard and lots for a few minutes. She also adjusted my lower and mid back, plus my ribcage and shoulder which felt great. I go again on thursday. I'm not supposed to do any upper body stretches because it could make that rib pop out more so... yeah.... I have to be careful for a while now. Oh joy. What if the next time you went in, you had the chiropractor wrap your rib cage with something like an ace bandage to hold it in place? I know that it takes time to fully adjust when you go to the chiropractor, but when I go to mine, he always tells me to go home, and stay in a neutral position as much as possible for the next 24 hours. I would think wrapping it would be like the same thing. But I am not the Chiropractor. Just a thought.

I keep running into these issues that don't make sense to me. I'm trying to do research at UAB instead of here in the Fall semester. I CAN'T do it here anyway; we don't have any research spots open, but I need to do it asap because I'm applying to graduate school IN the Fall semester. They value research, so I at least want to be able to say that it's in progress when I apply. Anyway, I tried to get it on a BACHE form, thinking that it'd be okay because I already have found my faculty mentor at UAB...I haven't set up the details yet, but I know he'll take me. I wanted to try to get the transfer credit approved, before I set up the details. But when I went to get the form signed, my advisor signed it, but the chair of the dept. said I had to fill out some research form first. I get the research form, and it says all of this stuff about I need to report on my results, etc. when it's done, and I have the get three people from here to approve it. Well, I didn't notice that at UAB it's UNDERGRADUATE research...Here it's INDEPENDENT research. I notice that this form is assuming that I'm setting up a research project by myself, with a faculty member supervising me. Over there it's basically me helping the professor, etc. in his own project. So on my form...there's not much I can put. It's different. I can't really lie on the form, even if I wanted to, b/c it asks the experiemental design, etc....but since I'm basically just assisting, I don't really have an experimental design. I'm just observing or doing what he tells me to do. I guess I'm more like a lab assistant to him, rather than off doing my own thing. I don't think they'll let me do it. I'm not really concerned with the credits, but I was trying to do it that way so I won't have to apply to UAB as a student...if I do it transient they're not concerned with that...unless he will let me do it just as extra. I honestly thought that since my mentor was at UAB, THEY would handle all of the details...I figured I'd just have to get it approved to transfer back from here. I had no clue I had to get committees to approve things from here, AND do the same there. It just doesn't make sense to me...at all. I think some people have too much power. Now I don't know what to do. And the bad thing is, I think half the committee here has left for the summer already.

Meghan- where are you going? I was excited to see you on here again and was hoping you hadn't vanished for good. My car officially works again- AC and all! It is a bit jimmy-rigged, but it works. I'm now back to listening to books on tape during my drives. I still haven't gotten motivated enough to clean the car out though.
