I have always known that God (and his enemies) were real since I was two. I have always talked to God and He to me. however I never had a relationship with him until I was in my early twenties. Then, having been raised by wolves, I struggled to have an intimate relationship with him. Now I am 40 something :D I have a wonderful pastor who is helping me sort through truth and untruth. I am highly blessed. You can know there is a God and still not seek his face.

I can't ever reminber a time I didn't believe in God, or that Jesus died on the cross. But there was a time that I did accept Jesus into my heart. I thought I was 7 or 8 until not long ago, but when I asked mom, she said I was more like 11. At that time it was more about fear of going to hell. It wasn't till much later that I learned that God really did love me beyond what I could even understand.

You misunderstand me. My comment was not directed at you or about you. You will note that I say there are some who are unsaved who pretend to be, believing about God, but not trusting in God. There is a huge difference in the belief and in who this statement aplies to. This idea is Biblical and I have heard others give this testimony about their own experience being similar, some pretending since childhood. There are many saved during childhood to whom this statement does not apply. I was saved around the age of 6, as I posted earlier, so I can identify with a testimony like yours. [/quote] Thanks for the clarification, and I do apologize if I took your words wrong. But, just to clarify my own previous statement, I became a child of God when my parents carried me to the altar when I was a few weeks old, and started believing in Him at that point. I was saved when Christ died on the cross. Dusty

It happened with John the Baptist. Who am I to say it can't happen? If you are showing fruits in keeping with repentence, then I believe you. Not knowing you, I have nothing to judge and take you at your word.

ORIGINAL: McGuinessMagee From a different perspective, I want to thank every single one of you who has walked in faith since you were children. You give hope to both my husband and myself, who did not have such blessed upbringings, that we may, with much help from God, bring our children up to always know and follow him. Every single one of you is a blessing and an example to my dh and I and, we hope, powerful examples to our children when we don't have the answers because we didn't walk that road. God bless you for training your children in the ways of the Lord. Both my husband and I accepted the Lord very young as did my own children. Pray every day that the Holy Spirit will speak to them in ways they understand and the seeds that are planted in their soul will grow.

I was raised to believe by default because that's what I was taught/told since birth. Looking back now, though, I realize that I had many doubts but was afraid to question any of it. At least I am not alone; my brother feels the same as I do.

Hopefully we will have answers for you, but if that is what you are looking for, the bible will have more answers than we do. take care and God bless

As for me, I was raised in the Catholic church . I was an altar boy. I would say that I always believed in God. I always knew there was something bigger than us. At the time, my Mother wanted me to be a Priest. As soon as I was able to make my own decisions regarding church, I stopped going. I was 21 when I accepted Christ into my life. I continued in my life of sin for 10 years until last September when I finally gave up living for me, and started living for Him. I thank God for His patience and understanding.

I can remember as a child not being able to grasp the concept of loving someone you've never met. That was probably the biggest source of doubt that I had growing up. Like you I was raised in the Catholic church. It wasn't a bad experience at all, like you hear many people say. I don't know that I have a purpose here necessarily, I just thought it would be interesting.

ORIGINAL: RefinersMetal Can never remember not believing in Him. Learned about Jesus and had faith at a very young age. Billy Graham said his wife Ruth never knew a time she did not believe in Christ as her savior. I would like to have had a dramatic testimony of a changed life, but don't. Any similar backgrounds? Thanks note: do not mean born saved, though that could be possible. Talking after conception. I can't ever remember not believing in God, I new He was, and is. Being born again was a experience I will never forget. I was about 16, and I just happened to say thank God in front of someone, they jumped at me there is no God, I remember say what; you don't believe in God, It was a shock to me, I just assumed everyone belived in God. I wish I could tell you I always followed Jesus but I didn't. One day a young woman came to our house, her husband was a friend of Mine. She shone with the presents of God in her. after she left, I went to my bedroom laid on my bed, and asked Christ into my heart. Wow it was like someone stuck my toe in a socket. I am glad I was laying down.
