ORIGINAL: OneOfHisJewels Ok, ladies, and possibly men, we all know that at this point the wedding of our dreams has crossed our minds at one point or another, do share! I.E., your ideas for colors, size, special touches, etc, Don't be shy!!! I will share mine, but I wanna go pop in some other threads for now, so I'll be back. sigh.......every girl dreams of her wedding, doesn't she? i had a dream wedding...way back when. over 500 guests (actually had to get OUT of my dress to go to the bathroom cuz it was taking so long to seat eveyone...and i was sooooo nervous! lol and that doesn't happen quickly when you have to undo 80 tiny satin-covered hooked buttons down the back of a gown!) no colors...just white flowers and greenery...and hundreds of candles in the windows, tall brass hurricanes down the center aisle, graduated circular candleabras on the piano and organ, candles up in the baptism "window", candleabras on each side of the alter... evening formal: i wore a handmade gown i'd designed, somewhere between a white and an ivory satin, with a 23' train...and a tulle veil that was just as long. (beautiful coming down the aisle). bridesmaids wore a darker shade called "candlelight" (almost had a peachy tint to it); ballet-length gowns (again, i designed and had made). flower girl wore dress made from my gown fabric...smocked bodice, ballet-length, ballet slippers. ring bearer wore shirt made from my gown fabric with a "little lord fauntleroy" collar, and black satin knickers and ivory socks...carrying a ring pillow i'd made from my gown fabric and cross-stitched. groom wore black tails, and groomsmen all wore black evening tuxes (and black wayfarere sunglasses for pics later. lol). i walked down the aisle to the same song maria did in "the sound of music"...and had my "big sister (who sounds just like amy grant) sing "doubly good." it all went perfectly...except for the fact that someone had been carrying that big train and veil around all afternoon, so i had NO IDEA how heavy they were, until they opened the door and daddy and i were going to walk down the aisle...and my head SNAPPED back and i nearly fell backward before i got it moving! giggle that would've been soooooo embarrassing!

Shar-Mar I don't think you've slammed anyone. I too have ideas of what I like, but like you said it all depends on where I am in that point of my life and who I will be marrying. I totally understand.

Your welcome. As a single female, ever since I was a little girl i've dreamed of the day when I would get married. Times have changed and so have my ideas. The one thing that matters is that i'll be in love with a man who God wants me to be with.

I had a very small wedding the first time and, should I ever get remarried, I would probably have an even smaller one. Me, him, minister, kids, couple of witnesses and brunch for we few after. Yeah, that sounds about right. Yeah, so. Ya wanna know how pragmatic I am? When people talk about getting married on the beach or in some other scenic spot, all I can think about are the logistics of getting all the wedding....stuff...to the spot and then somebody having to haul it away. I think about sand in people's shoes and the ocean breeze ruining all the pretty hairdos. I am seriously just very weird. OH! I was invited to an outdoor wedding once. It was to be held in a beautiful square with a lovely gazebo in Atlanta. We got there and it started to rain. The couple ended up exchanging vows in a bar across the street. Okay, that is the sum total of what I have to say about weddings.

I keep going back and forth between large and formal, and large and informal. I have a HUGE family so I have always said that everyone who thought they'd never see the day will see the day! That said, I don't want to waste a whole lot of money ... so I'd be cutting corners wherever possible. Shar-Mar's ceremony sounds LOVELY! Oh ... and I LOVE the color peach but also ... if I ever have a bridesmaid, I would want to be kind to her. So if she's gonna buy her own dress, it needs to be something she'd like and would wear again!

The ONLY thing I know about my wedding is that I found the dress I want (can't help but look when you're involved with other weddings all these years). And while it may not still be available whenever I do get married, at least I can have it made. Simple elegance.

Well, my Dad's family wouldn't come except for my grandma and her husband. Mom's family would come (those who could afford to that is), but I wouldn't want them there. They're a bunch of red necks. I'm not into large weddings anyway so I would probably just want a very VERY small wedding.

If I ever remarry, I think I'd like to elope. Maybe w/ the ceremony aboard a cruise ship. That way I can get married outside near water - and still have a boat load of guests, too!
