Ok, ladies, and possibly men, we all know that at this point the wedding of our dreams has crossed our minds at one point or another, do share! I.E., your ideas for colors, size, special touches, etc, Don't be shy!!!

I will share mine, but I wanna go pop in some other threads for now, so I'll be back.

AngelInWaiting1983 -> RE: future weddings (5/2/2008 11:40:05 PM)

I just have to say that I have at least 4-5 different sets of plans...lol.

It all depends on who I marry.

shemaromans -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:00:01 AM)

Since my dad's gone now, I really think I'd just want something small with family and close friends. Nothing too involved. Meet at the church, pray, listen to the pastor's message, say the vows, kiss, pray, eat...and then hit the road for the honeymoon!

John_O -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:17:40 AM)

I'll be the husband. My job is to stand there, look handsome (it's a stretch but I might be able to pull it off) say "I do" at the proper time and stay out of the way.[:D]

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:26:16 AM)

Ha, Ha, John, you're funny, I knew you would have a funny post as soon as I saw your name.

I would like to think, though, that you picture your daughter as being part of the ceremony!

BugLady -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:28:06 AM)

I'll give this one some thought. Right after I dream up an imaginary groom who loves eggs.

If it happens relatively quickly I'd like her to be the flower girl. But she's 7 now. So it would have to be within the next year at most.

About a year after M went home I was discussing getting remarried with the Girl. She said "And I'm going to be the Flower Girl!"

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:41:22 AM)

Ok, here goes mine

Style: big, beautiful, formal, romantic evening wedding.

Colors: hunter green and burgundy with ivory and white, and maybe some touches of lighter pinks and greens.

Attendants:

Bridesmaids: Sisters 1 and 3 (not being mean to sister 4, she's just so disabled she's at a four month level, and doesn't have that ability)., and friends A and A, and of course if the guy has any sisters they would be included.

I would pick the fabric, but let them pick their own patterns. A and A would be matron and maid of honor (friend A1 is married, friend A2 is not), so they would be in burgundy, and all other bridesmaids in hunter green.

Other attendants

10 or 11 year old boy and girl candlelighters, girl in the hunter green.
They would come in first before anybody

bridesmaids next..and maybe groomsmen

then, in this order
flower girl/ring bearer

flowergirl/ Bible boy

5/6 little boys and girls to ring bells

me and my dad

one boy/one girl carrying train

(all of these little girls would have white (or ivory) dresses, and an equal number of hunter green and burgundy sashes).

and not walking down the aisle, but
guest book attendant

also whatever musicians, soloists, ushers etc.

I would also somehow like the groomsmen, and especially the groom to get a little more attention, and not just be bumps on logs.

Reception..nice dinner, but no dancing, and two little girls handing out favors to the guests. The favors would probably be bookmarks.

Oh, and I want some fun activities going on for the kids..not sure what yet, but have thought of being at an ice rink, so they could ice skate, or being at our towns old courthouse so they could ride the carousel.

AND NO THROWING THE BOQUET, WE ALL KNOW WHAT A MISERABLE MOMENT THAT IS FOR US OLDER SINGLES AT WEDDINGS.

Actually John, when my best friend got married, she had four flower girls, and her youngest sister was the oldest flower, girl, and she turned 12 that day. Of course she was very tiny.

If your dau. is too old to be a flower girl when you get married, she can either be a candlelighter or a jr. bridesmaid.

BugLady -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:48:03 AM)

I think I'll go with something informal. Maybe on chicken farm or something special like that.

Prairiehiker -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 12:57:19 AM)

I can't say I have a dream wedding. I've been to a lot of them but I've never imagined me being in a wedding like those. Maybe I'll be like John O and find a man who will do all the planning...from the color of the napkin, to the number of layers of the cake. Just thinking about all those things stresses me out. I can imagine a beach wedding in Hawaii, with my daughter as my matron of honor and having a luau for a reception. Nothing fancy and nothing superficial. Just the closest friends and family.

See....as I mentioned before, I have it all planned out. All I need is a groom, lol!

Now that is one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time, OOHJ! I always hate that time, especially when the bride turns around at the last minute and purposely throws it to her maid of honor!

Years ago I would have been able to tell you about my dream wedding in detail, but I've forgotten most of my ideas. The one idea I do still remember is that I want someone to play guitar and sing "With This Ring I Thee Wed" by the Pat Terry band. I think those are some of the most beautiful lyrics I've ever heard. Does anyone else remember that?

Other than that, I think I'd like a simple, reverent ceremony in church and then nice dinner afterwards where all the guests can enjoy themselves and where we'll have plenty of time to visit with our guests.

trinigirl722 -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 1:31:27 AM)

Oops! I just looked it up, and the actual name of the song is "That's the Way."

My best friend and her sister were both kind of enough to leave that out at their weddings.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 7:54:51 AM)

EXTREMELY small - it's too intimate and personal and important, and I will have no more family. Only the most important people will be involved. However, once the wedding is over, then a HUGE evangelistic party. I have someone who said they will sing, schedule providing. This is could be part of the party as in a concert.

barbi -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 9:32:58 AM)

Something very small and with a small reception afterwards.

Grace-N-Mercy -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 9:40:46 AM)

I'm fairly frugal, so I do not want to spend a lot of money on a one-day celebration and be in debt for years. Good thing I like simple things.

I've always thought a spring-time outside wedding would be nice. THIS PLACE would be idea.

Of course, I'm not opposed to a BEACH WEDDING, either.

pruned -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 10:11:53 AM)

My son was a groomsman in a beach wedding just last week. I haven't seen any good photographs yet, but a couple of snapshots from someone just playing around ... well, let's just say it was a beautiful setting. The reception was just behind them in the officer's club. Apparently, it was a naval facility.

BugLady -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 10:14:37 AM)

I'm looking at my niece's wedding photo on the mantle right this very moment. It's on the beach, and it's a breath-taking shot. A beach wedding would be cool.

trainfan -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 11:15:27 AM)

I must say I have never given this much thought.

I am terrible picking out colors and things like that so it would be better if I stayed out of all that sort of thing.

I think I would just like something simple. Like G-n-M I wouldn't want to see a bunch of money spent on a one day event.

A few years ago a local couple got married and then instead of a reception they had the local food bank bring their mobile food pantry to the church. The entire wedding party changed into regular clothes and they distributed food donated by the wedding guests in the parking lot. I thought that was kind of a cool idea.

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 11:34:43 AM)

I had a huge church wedding and very small reception for my first wedding. I was stressed and worried about it being perfect and didn't enjoy it too much. but it was beautiful.

If I get married again I would like a small, private wedding, possibly on the beach or a cliff somewhere. Go straight to a honeymoon for a week and then have the Things (and his children if he has any) join us for a second week for our first family vacation. Upon our return a HUGE celebration with family and friends and all that jazz.

Not to worry, the guy is usually left out of the color-decision. [:D]

Oh, and that does sound like a cool idea about the reception.

Now, I like this idea! Having the kids join you on vacation sounds fantastic!! They would LOVE it! And then the big celebration afterwards... perfect.

Y'all got me started. [8D] I was looking at the beach wedding site I posted and there's something on there about releasing butterflies. As much as everyone in my family knows I loved insects while growing up, that would be perfect. It's a little pricy, but I could see putting a pretty little cage with two butterflies on each table and allowing them to release them at the end of the reception. How cool would that be??

BugLady -> RE: future weddings (5/3/2008 11:44:16 AM)

I kinda like the idea of going away to some nice out of the way location for an elopement immediately followed by the honeymoon. Upon returning getting together with loved ones for a simple celebration.... but that's just one idea.

I know! LOLOL!!!! I found the perfect Scottish castle for a honeymoon too. *grin* The joys of being a girl...always planning. [sm=biggrin.gif]

Ah, prairie hiker, I'm sure you'll find someone before your daughter does.
