I've never seen anything higher than $20.00

Some stores won't accept a bill larger than $20 due to fear of counterfeit bills.

Some still do. The one at my bank lets you take out in denominations of $5

Generally speaking, U.S. ATMs give $20 bills as the largest denomination. There are lots of places, however where ATMs give $100 bills. But these are usually high-end hotels and casinos.

I've gotten them at Citigroup ATMs sometimes when I make a withdrawal over ~ $200. (Sometimes, I feel more comfortable paying my credit card bill in cash at the Citibank counter- that way, there's less that can go wrong.)

Okay ... certain bank ATM's around here (at least two of the main ones) will dispense 20s up to $200, and then 50s for any amount above that (as an example, you want to withdraw 300 ... you'd get 10 $20 bills, and 2 $50 bills)

Our local college ATM still dispenses $5 bills!! [;)]

I remember one that used to do $10 bills, but only one. It doesn't anymore.

generally ATMs in Australia give a combination of 50's and 20's. as there isn't an ATM for my bank where I live I generally just get cash out at the supermarket when i buy something so I can ask for whatever combination i want. [;)]
