Hi ladies!

I just started selling Avon and I am asking for your help.

Could you tell me about some of the products that you like and what you like about them?

What are some of the products that you don't care for and why?

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Avon (5/3/2008 1:06:14 PM)

love love love their jewelry and summer time flip flops. I always like their purses too.
I like their bath products too, at least some of them.

Don't care for their perfumes, or some of the sprays. Don't care for the deordorant, didn't work for me. Don't bother with the makeup.

Sandy

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Avon (5/3/2008 1:07:14 PM)

totally forgot! I also love thier products for children. The bath paints are tons of fun, and the other products, like sheets, blankets, and 'educational' items are GREAT!
Sandy

Roberta_ -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 12:52:13 PM)

Thanks Sandy!

I thought about getting some of the paint for my nieces - especially J-8 because she loves to shower. I have a nephew who is turning 6 and a niece who is turning 8 at the end of this month and I thought about getting the paints for them too.

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 12:56:43 PM)

I get their makeup sometimes, but I just flat out dont buy much make up. I dont like their deodorant, it didnt work and I felt like I had to walk around flapping my arms to get it dry. Their jewelry is pretty. I do like some of their perfumes, good price, but again, I dont buy much of that. I did just order some of the SSS Bug Gaurd since its natural and doesn't have DEET (which my books says preggie lady doesnt need to use). I'm hoping it works! I dont buy too much stuff, because I usually procrastinate then never get my order in. But I bought the SSS stuff online and just had the purchase credited to my cousin that way she got credit and I could do it at my leisure. Plus I missed her order and needed the stuff ASAP.

Roberta_ -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 1:03:16 PM)

I haven't tried the Bug Guard, but I've heard it works.

I don't usually need it because I mix 1 part SSS to 2 or 3 parts water in a spray bottle and use that has a spray-on hair conditioner/detangler.

Cloak -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 2:02:12 PM)

I used to buy items from Avon. My favourites were: Jewelery, clothes, slippers, and some toiletries, candles, foam bath and foot bath and body lotion.

The products I did not like is: Perfumes, make-up. It was not up to my taste at least not their lipstick. However, Avon changes and develops its products on a continuous basis. So this is quite relative.

HomeSpunLady -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 2:04:55 PM)

Hubby loves the bug gaurd with the spf in it. Says it really works.

I love love love the silicone glove cream. Oh, does it ever help with my dry winter hands. I liked their deoderant. Never cared for the makeup. I like their bubble baths and stuff of that nature.

ladioffaith -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 4:38:21 PM)

I'm a fan of shower gels, silicone glove, inspirational stuff and anything on sale CHEAP.

Steer clear of the jewelry and purses and clothes.

I'm waiting for them to come up with Bible covers again.

2shaye -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 5:43:52 PM)

Roberta, I've been selling Avon for a few years and found that what people like and stuff is pretty regional. For example, in all my years, I've rarely sold any jewelry. The bulk of my orders are makeup and skin care products! I rarely sell clothes and I think I've only sold one bottle of perfume! I've been pres. club for a few years, so I sell a good amount. Lot's of nail and foot products as well.

Here's a tip - don't get sucked in to the stock up deals! Buy only the stuff you know your customers will like. At Christmastime, encourage your customers to buy stuff early and not wait until the last minute - Avon is notorious for "shorts". Only keep on hand things you sell a lot of. For me, I always have glimmersticks eye liners, most mascaras (in black) and the most popular shower gels. During the summer, I always have bug guard on hand as well.

I sell tons and tons of deodorant too! [8|]

Bottom line is that you just need to know your customers. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks. I found in the past when I sold Avon, that could be a problem. Learning what customers did and did not like.

The last time that I sold Avon, I was a new Christian and Kathy Troccoli had just come out with a new CD that Avon was selling. I passed it around the women at church. Many of them had never heard of her, but I knew who she was and liked her music from before I became a Christian. I was very pleasantly surprised at how many of her CDs I sold just to women at church.

My aunt had also just died from breast cancer and I managed to sell a lot of their items that had the pink ribbon. I didn't earn any money off of those though, I was just doing that to help those who may be fighting breast cancer and to help promote awareness, etc.

3tulips -> RE: Avon (5/6/2008 6:04:53 PM)

I really like the Skin So Soft (pink one - sensual, I think it is). It has a great, clean fragrance. Body wash and lotion.

Also, the sun lotion with the bug guard. Great stuff.

Roberta_ -> RE: Avon (5/8/2008 2:09:08 PM)

People really seem to like the Bug Guard!

I still have two people to collect orders from before I turn in my order. I've gotten over $100 in orders so far.

Good to hear!! Mine should be here any day!![:D]

doinkdom -> RE: Avon (5/8/2008 4:53:20 PM)

I sell it, too. I've also used it since I was a teenager.

My personal favorite is the skin care - all the brown packaged ANEW as well as the clinical ANEW.

I also love the Retro 2 in 1 cleanser. (green tube)

Shower gels in the plastic bottles with the hook for the shower rod are a house staple around here and Dewkiss is the best in the winter time.

I've tried the AVON scents and not real crazy about them, but the signature ones aren't too bad. I don't wear them, but my husband wears the Derek Jeter colognes and loves them - me, too.

The Clearskin line of products are awesome. I used the old clearskin as a teen and it kept my skin clear once I started using it. I recommend it to everyone from 13-25.

I have 2 customer and all she buys is the clothes. Another only wants the clearskin stuff and 2 others only by the sale items.

Everyone is different, I would encourage you to keep details on their customer files on your office site so you can serve them well.

Abbreviated -> RE: Avon (5/9/2008 11:42:38 PM)

The deoderants...

Do buy some makeup when it is onsale.

The lady that cuts my hair wants me to sell it.

My MIL sold it door to door some 50 years ago.

Hi Jackie!

My great-grandmother sold it in like the '30s or so!

Roberta_ -> RE: Avon (5/20/2008 9:30:39 PM)

My order came today. I think I'm going to give my sis a pedicure with the watermelon stuff that I got.

2shaye -> RE: Avon (5/20/2008 9:31:39 PM)

That stuff smells so good, doesn't it?

fluffmonkey -> RE: Avon (5/20/2008 11:46:18 PM)

Bubble bath *shrugs* sometimes other cute things they have in there...lol

Yes it does. Sis had other things to do, so I gave pedicures to my dd and my two nieces. They giggled as I gave them their pedicures (dd and one of my nieces are very ticklish) and we talked about Jesus washing the disciples' feet.

Mrs.X -> RE: Avon (5/21/2008 12:51:14 AM)

I like their jewelry and cellulite cream. I can't afford the cream though, but it works great as long as you keep using it. It doesn't smell good though. When I was a kid, my mom used Avon Skin So Soft oil as a bug repellant. It came in a clear bottle with a teal cap and label. The oil was clear. I imagine there are alot of SSS now.

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Avon (5/21/2008 1:52:41 PM)

I remember the old SSS oil.

My bug repellant worked GREAT this weekend! The first day I used it I got fewer bugs than hubby so Mr. DeepWoods Off, decided to use my "girly" stuff!! He said it was because he didnt want me to be too close to him with the DEET (though I read somewhere the other day it was okay...so who knows) but it was because my stuff was better than his!! [:D][:D]

I liked it. It really helped my super duper dry skin. I may get some, since I have now discovered i can order online whenever I want and not have to make my decision and call my cousin by such and such date.
