AdamEdwards -> Who Wrote These Songs? (5/5/2008 3:12:45 PM)

Like Tyler was last week, I am needing to know the songwriter/publishing information for the following songs so I can make sure they get paid their royalties for the new album by my family. Song searches turn up multiple songs by different writers with no way to distinguish which song would be correct. Any help is appreciated!!!

Because Of Him
(The McKameys recorded it on their Still Have A Song project)

Just A Little Closer Home
(recorded by The Kingsmen/Mark Trammell Trio)

Help Lord
(have no idea where this song came from. I've never heard anyone else sing it. My wife has sang it for years and she doesn't know where it came from either.

Here's the chorus:
Help, Lord I'm carrying a load
My Shoulders are weak and I'm hurting so
I need help from above, a touch of your love
Oh hear my plea and Lord, help me
)

Bless The Lord
(The Redeemed recorded this on their Bless The Lord project.)

God Likes To Work
(by Karen Peck....I think this one's written by Larry Petree)

Oh What A Glad Day
(The Bishops recorded this on their Kentucky Bluegrass project)

That was written by Gerald Sweatman.

I believe "Because Of Him' was written by JD Sumner.

If it is the same one the Blackwood Brothers recorded, yes, it was. Trivia of the day: It was written as a response to "Surely I Will, Lord."

"God Likes To Work" (Larry Petree, Marcia Henry/Cameron Hill Music/BMI)

Adam, this is the only one of your songs for which we have information on the SG History site.

Over the past year or so I've added a bunch of song information to that site from the SG projects I have. The problem is, most of the older LP's (mid 1970s and older) and many of the table projects usually don't have complete songwriter and copyright information for the songs. Occasionally I run into new CD's that don't have the information either. This makes it difficult for us to provide complete information in some cases. It can be researched so that we can fill in the missing pieces but that is a very time-comsuming process.
