PopsiLufsJesus -> I'm not a parent, but... (5/6/2008 10:46:38 AM)

I was wondering from all you women who have kids...what did you do at your baby showers? could you give me some ideas for a good baby shower?

I would appreciate it, thanks...

Are you having a pre-baby shower or an after-baby shower? Is it ladies only or mixed genders?

One fun 'shower game' is to give everyone a diaper pin at the beginning, and through the whole thing, if someone catches you saying "baby" they get to take your pin.

I was hoping to have a pre-baby shower. That game sounds fun; I think someone else told me about it before...

any other ideas?

I'm not a parent either but I've been to, and put on a few baby showers. One fun game is to make a list of scrambled baby words (you know, bottle, rattle, formula, etc.), and have people unscramble them. Another is to write out the planned name for the baby (first, middle, last), and see how many words you can make out of them.

oh, those both sound like good plans...

thanks

IDEA #1 --The DIAPER GAME--

Take a few candy bars and smash them up seperately and maybe even very slightly melt some and place them in real disposable diapers and have the diapers numbered and have them guess what candy bar is in which number diaper and right it down.

Don't forget there names on there papers.

Don't list candy bars used (PURE GUESSES).

Idea #2 -- The BOTTLE GAME --

Take bottles and fill with jelly beans, M&M's, and other small candies for guessing how many are in the bottle. (You need to have precounted).

Hope these help. They are fun and get people talking.

One game I do not recommend, but this is my personal view is the game where you have each guest cut a string or unroll toilet paper to the length they think will fit around the mommy to be's tummy. They played it at my shower and I was a good sport about it, but it was embarrassing and I hated it. They also played the baby food tasting game. You had to taste it and then guess what it was...this was gross as well.

This one I loved playing. I have also seen it where instead of not being able to say baby you are not allowed to cross any part of your body.

[:'(] That would gross me out!

Another thing I just thought of is baby bingo. I've seen it in thrift stores, but you could also make your own.

Yeah, Georgia-Peach, I almost posted that idea, but decided not to, because I really think you start invading into personal space there.

You can buy a bunch of baby food jars and remove the labels. Pass the jars around and have the guests guess what is in them. Try to stick with single food jars - peas, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, etc.

Cool sites, Sarah. I see they've got baby bingo in there already. Sorry, I posted first, and looked at your links second.
