Here's an interesting question. If Jesus was here in the flesh, do you think he'd be playing Grand Theft Auto 1,2,3 or 4?
Why bother? He already got a perfect score on this one. He can just login as admin & use the console commands to create a new one anyway.

(In fact, he has the source code..)

I find it interesting that not all the individuals who have been adamantly defending the game bothered responding to this post.

I find it interesting that you seem to require a rational answer to a nonsensical question.

Give me an answer to this one: Why is the sky green?

Edwin - is that because it has the best sound track out of all of them?

It's the only one I've actually played, so the only name I could come up with quickly.

But it does have a great soundtrack. I always enjoyed speeding along the oceanside in the T-Bird analogue listening to "Atomic" followed by "99 Luftballon" followed by "Kids In America."

Exactly - it's the legalists version of asking what does the color blue taste like. As a born-again believer, Jesus is with me at all times, whether it's when I am physically fighting someone I am trying to arrest or when I am home watching Indiana Jones.

So the basic question of WWJD is a nonsensical question? Trite as it may sound to a nonbeliever, I would think that a believer would do their best to live by this question. It's the very essence of Christianity- to strive to live like Christ, to follow his example.

And my question from the other page still remains, have you had a chance to read it?

What good can come from a game like this?

It is just more glorification of violence, and the degradation of society that leads to the falling away described in 2 Thessalonians. Also 2 Timothy Ch.3 where it describes a list of traits that men will have toward the end days. The word fierce, is found there. And by looking at how gangster rappers have dominated airwaves and top 40 charts is alarming. Go into small towns and you will see kids that emulate gang members, whether knowing or not, it is sad that this level of violent behavior has become mainstream. This game is just one part of that recipe that allows people to fantasize about breaking the law and committing acts of iniquity.

We all know Jesus cares about the heart, when talking to men about adultery, he said if any man looks with lust at a woman, then they have committed adultery already in their heart.

I'm sure everyone here has noticed a somewhat of a decline in moral values in pop culture today. But guess what? We have hit an all time low with the new video game GTA 4.

You'd think after the last games, which were utter garbarge for the mind, they would have decreased the disgusting immoral nature of the game. But it seems they felt that they needed to increase the amount of garbage in the game.

Lets look at whats in the game:

+ Killing innocent civilians
+ Killing POLICE OFFICERS
+ Having intercourse with prostitutes (VERY EXPLICIT) and then killing them for a refund
+ Stealing cars (ofcourse, it's in the title)
+ Drinking and driving
+ Going to strip clubs
+ Explicit langauge
+ Don't forget the main plot revolves around a criminal activity

With that said this game should never enter your household. It poisons the mind of our young and I even believe it can be detremental for adults too. I would love to see large pile of these games burned.

I got into a discussion with a Christian sister the other day. She was railing on the evils of video games, movies and even Christian Rock.

I asked her that how on one hand, you try to shield your teen from things like that, but have no problem letting you teen watch TBN or sending your teen to youth events featuring documented heretics as guest speakers?

That is an excellent point I brought up some two or three pages ago.

During that time of posting, I was sitting at this computer wondering how many of those posting in this thread about how evil and sinful it is to play a video game are also the same people who pay heed to heretics, false teachers and false prophets who blaspheme the Word of God for profit and control.

Ironic, huh?

Very.....

I agree but remember the old saying, "two wrongs do not make a right". So that is not a valid arguement

But it is indeed a very valid point to bring up to those that feel they are so holy. Ironic when they pay heed to heretics and perverter's of the Word. What's worse? Watching an action flick or adhering to false teachers and false prophets?

Think about that..

MODERATOR'S NOTE :: ATTENTION PLEASE

Please keep this thread on the topic of video games (and GTA4). This isn't the thread to discuss TBN, watching false teachers, etc.

These are two separate topics. Let's keep them that way in this thread.

Thanks!

I just read this quote in a book . This really helped me as I was making a decision this week, hope it encourages someone else.........

"Son, whatever weakens your reasoning, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes away your relish for spiritual things; in short, if anything increases the authority and power of the flesh over the Spirit, then that to you becomes sin, however good it is in itself." - Susanna Wesley (Grand Weaver, Ravi Zacharias)
