lightshineon -> RE: My Political Vote (5/15/2008 2:40:23 PM)

I will speak from knowing someone very well who had an abortion, the guilt, the grief, and pain has never left, or ever will. And really two people the babies and womans life is ruined. quote:
ORIGINAL: ElmerFishpaw As well you should vote your beliefs.....I come at it from another angle to lessen abortions...that being have the safety nets in society so that keeping a baby is viable. I don't believe the Republican party would do that. quote:
ORIGINAL: lightshineon UMM, president Bush baned partial Birth Abortion. We vote, we have a say. and we vote like we think is Christlike. quote:
ORIGINAL: ElmerFishpaw Funny, the Christian community always says "we are not of this world" but then are more than happy to try and dictate policy in it. As I said, some people don't believe killing a child is equal to an abortion...that's why it's legal. This girl is not being illegal whether abortion or child out of wedlock....the only scorn she faces is from the church community. My belief the the best way to lessen abortion (we will always have it in some form) is to vote for those who would put in place some of the safety nets in society....health care etc.... By all means everyone should vote their conscience whatever party you want. quote:
ORIGINAL: davemiller7 Is the "stigma" of having a child out of wedlock worse than living with the knowledge that you (not you personally, Elmer) have killed your child? There are many stories told by women who have had abortions, who later are filled with grief and remorse. I guess if you choose to "be of the world", not standing up for what is right, moral and Christian, then that's your choice. Sorry. -Dave quote:
ORIGINAL: ElmerFishpaw Some people don't see it as murder which is why it is still legal in this country. As I have said, if I were a woman, I would never have an abortion. I still believe a better way is to have a society in which a woman would be more likely not to abort...daycare, health care etc... The way some Christians throw people under the bus is sickening. At my Mom's church they had a confrontation or some stupid thing to a girl who was pregnant out of wedlock. She could have avoided that with an abortion, but she chose not to abort and had the baby and had to put up with the stigma of an unwed Mom in her Church...the girl couldn't win either way. Don't they call babies out of wedlock B.......ards still? quote:
ORIGINAL: davemiller7 Is preventing murder of innocent little lives intrusive? Man, I don't know where you're coming from!!! -Dave quote:
ORIGINAL: ElmerFishpaw Republicans will never outlaw abortion. They'll talk about it to get your vote, but abortion is a big money raiser for them. People will give because they believe the Republicans will do something about it, but really I would vote Democratic (I"m registered Green Party) as they probably would have more mechanisms in place (universal health care, assistance, day care etc) that would make a woman more want to keep a baby. Anyway...chubby, pasty, older white men have no business trying to control a womans body. I would never have an abortion if I were a woman, but you know Republicans want government less intrusive, but dictating what a woman should do with her body is about as intrusive as it gets sheesh!
