I was reading a book today by Derek Prince and he explained the difference between trust and faith quite clearly:

quote:

ORIGINAL Derek Prince

Faith is an act
Trust is an attitude

e.g. Psalm 37:5
Commit thy way unto the Lord;
(the act - i.e. faith)
Trust also in Him and He will bring it to pass. (the attitude - i.e. trust)

Commit describes a single act of faith; trust describes a continuing attitude that follows the intitial act of commiting. After that God takes over and He brings it to pass.

In other words:

quote:

ORIGINAL Little_1

The difference between faith and trust:

"Faith is the starting point and trust is seeing it through to the finish."

So often we commit things to God in faith initially but fail to go on to continually trust Him (i.e. we take back what we commited to Him).

I like that, Little_1! Salvation is both a crisis of commitment (initial faith) AND a process of continuing attitude (trust). Well stated.

To trust is to put our belief in action.
