What is it about guys reading in the restroom? Why is it necessary? To me, you leave germs on the reading material, and then some people I know, pass that reading material onto others. Since there's no way to clean the material, all the germs go with it.

Why don't guys just do what needs doing in the restroom without having to read, leaving more time for others to use the restroom and not being unhygienic?

Public restrooms... Just take care of business and move on. At home... Do you know of a better place to relax and get away from "it all?" Might as well check out the sports section somewhere where we know we won't be bothered.

I, for one, don't consider holding something in the restroom as unhygienic. There are no more germs on my hands while I'm reading whatever it is than before I went in. As for why I read something... it's about maximizing the use of my time I guess. It seems like a waste of time, even a couple of minutes, if my eyes are just staring at the wall.

And replying to this post is a good use of time? LOL

Never have I thought, "reading material + toilet = a certified hobby".

I have never anything read in the bathroom. So I have no idea why you would want to.

I used to work in field service and there were a lot of companies that had all sorts of newspapers, magazines (usually hunting, fishing or financial type magazines) and oddly enough industrial product catalogs in the mens rooms. I guess they wanted the employees to be productive and do some shopping for the plant while in the restroom. I always thought it made the restroom look messy.

A side note the oddest thing I saw in a restroom was at a mortgage company that had a regular land-line phone in the restrooms both mens and womens (The reason I know that is they were small restrooms, the doors were always open when they were not in use and the phones hung on the wall opposite the door).
