I have noticed there are several sites that are accepting comments or have tributes posted to Dottie. She was loved everywhere she went, by eveyone that knew her.

ajay214 -> RE: Dottie Rambo passes away (5/13/2008 10:27:56 AM)

I, too, was so looking forward to meeting Dottie at the Christian Music Hall of Fame Induction Awards Show. And like many, we have posted our little tribute to her as well. It seems like so little when you want to do more. My heart goes out to so many people as they deal with this loss.
Few words can help at this time, but those close to her know the trumpets were blaring as she entered through those gates. What a concert there must be there right now!

Thank you for the links..I found some info on her daughter's website that the funeral plans are still being made. I do hope they broadcast it on the internet. She has such a huge number of fans.

I remember seeing her years and years ago in southern ohio long before she began singing with the gaither homecoming series. To continually write song after song with such an anointing as she did is some kind of gift!

It was nice to see someone from the Cook family posting here too.. I saw your mom and dad sing way back in the 70's at a little country church ...I still have their albumn somewhere! I remember the song along the lines of Jesus Pilot's My Ship...does that sound familiar to anyone else?

God Bless everyone. Thank God for such a rich heritage as Southern Gospel.

I found out when I got a text from MSnurse and called her as was driving. have been clearing off post and getting ready to head to Alabama.

still am in shock. words can't describe the legacy she made in music. but like the post said a few back. I can't cry for her. She has finished the race. I am still struggling to finish. so as was said, congrats Miss Dottie. Hope she is near when I lay my crown at Jesus's feet.

In 1974, I has 19 years old and had answerd the call to preach but not yet served a church.
My pastor asked me to preach in his absence on an upcoming Sunday. On Friday evening I went to the high school auditorium in Sumter, SC to hear the Rambos. My spirit was blessed with all the songs, but til my dying day, I will not forget Dottie singing , "He Looked Beyond my Fault."
On that Sunday morning, I was still full from that Friday night concert and with those beautiful words still in my heart, I preached with confidence and gave my testimony of how truly Jesus looked far beyond my fault, and saw my need.

Dottie Rambo's songs have had a tremendous influence on my life and my ministry for 34 years!

I just found a great tribute section with a lot of quotes about Dottie from people like Bill Anderson, Marty Stuart, Ron Blackwood, etc. Also you just have to read the Cinderella story that is published there. Out of respect to the Singing News I won't post the link but this stuff can be found at the Gospel Music Times website

DeeAnnBailey -> RE: Dottie Rambo passes away (5/13/2008 3:52:21 PM)

I've started to post several times but really words fail me at the moment. I got a text message from an artist Sunday morning while I was in Sunday School. Normally I don't check my phone when it vibrates but my daughter, son in law and precious baby Erin weren't at church yet so I looked to see who it was from. I knew this artist was normally in church either singing or at their home church so sending at that time it must be something unusual. I read the message and I must have gasped because the person behind me came up as soon as SS was over to see if I was ok.

I told him what the message said and told several others in our church that were very familar with her singing and writing. I have done a medley of 'Valley' (This is My Valley, In The Valley He Restoreth My Soul and Thank You for the Valley)songs that she wrote for years and it has always ministered to those who heard it.

I met her when I was about 19 and had just started working at a local radio station. She, Buck and Reba were singing together. I never got to know her well, but I was always impressed with her sweet spirit when I saw/heard her. She was gracious and kind to those she met.

I'm thankful for her music and that it will continue to live on.

southerngospelgirl -> RE: Dottie Rambo Memorial Thread (5/13/2008 3:55:27 PM)

For as far back as I can remember of my 25 years of life, I cannot ever remember a time when I did not know who Dottie Rambo was, I knew her songs, her voice and her smile. I have seen her in concert more times than I can count, she was always the same, each time after the show when it was time for her to meet her adoring fans, she was the life of the party..the word hero is what I would use to describle the woman that to me will always be known as Miss Dottie, as a young christian and aspiring singer it was her songs that I leaned on..talking with her backstage one night i told her of what her songs ment to me and what an inspiration she was to me...with tears in her eyes she simply said I love you honey, and I thank the lord for using me...wow what a humble woman....she inspired me in so many ways....gospel musics light is a bit dimmer today, as we morn...keep Reba and the family in prayer...and remember as her song said I'm Gonna leave here shoutin and when I do i beleive that Miss Dottie will be leading the heavenly choir in one of her amazing songs....we love you Dottie enjoy your wings, for you are an angel in heaven now just as you were here on earth

Could you give us a link to the Gospel Music Times site? I've Googled, but can't find it. Thanks.

GospelProducer -> RE: Dottie Rambo passes away (5/13/2008 6:17:28 PM)

I just didn't know how the Singing News folks viewed stuff like that but anyway: www.GospelMusicTimes.com I'm just new and don't know how everything works. I saw they were not happy with folks polsting stuff from the paid online part of their magazine so I didn't want to rock the boat.

KingsKid7703 -> RE: Dottie Rambo passes away (5/13/2008 9:04:53 PM)

I wrote this this morning between the VA-NC line and Durham. Thought I'd post here:

Come and Celebrate with me
A friend who's gone home.

Sometimes we get so fixed
Upon this world we see.
That we forget what Christ did
In His agony.
Why did He die,
Was it just for a home in the sky?
Thomas did doubt that his Lord was alive.
Sometimes it's hard to see past the stone,
But when it's rolled away
We can clearly see God's Throne
And know Jesus' Lives
And so does she.
So,
Come and Celebrate with me
A friend who's gone home.

A friend so dear.
Her words were very clear.
She said that Jesus Lives.
With every thing she wrote
She hung that truth upon each note.
Her songs will go on.
Many more souls she'll have won.
And when Jesus comes,
Her crown will be bright,
Because she dwelt among us,
And showed us His Glorious Light.
So,
Come and Celebrate with me
A friend who has gone home.

Anyone planning on going to Nashville to the service next Monday?

I know that I'm planning on going. Foster may get to go. My buddy, Jacky Fortner (former Liberty, current Homeland Boys tenor) is gonna ride up with me.

Dinana -> RE: Dottie Rambo passes away (5/14/2008 9:02:40 AM)

There's no mention of webcasting the service. I won't be going, but I really wouldn't mind being able to view it on the web.
