Anyone planning on going to Nashville to the service next Monday?

I know that I'm planning on going. Foster may get to go. My buddy, Jacky Fortner (former Liberty, current Homeland Boys tenor) is gonna ride up with me.

I would like to go but my orthopedic appt is that day so I won't be able to. The last several times I've been to Nashville it has been for funerals. I do want to go back just to enjoy the place sometime soon.

The Tribute page over at GMT is still growing, I saw there are now quotes by: Karen Peck, Lulu Roman, Naomi Sego and Marty Stuart. It's amazing (but natural) so many people loved Miss Dottie.

MODERATOR'S NOTE :: ATTENTION PLEASE

I have moved this to the General Music folder (I think her appeal deserves that ).

With the move, you may now post links to other sources (as long as they do not violate the TOS.)

Thanks!

Ms. Dottie was special to the Klaudts. In 1969 When we purchased a 1969-4903 GM Coach, the Rambos purchased our 1964-4106 GM Coach. Prior to that time and after, we shared the stage with Buck, Dottie and Reba many nights. When we set up our family foundation, Dottie contacted us to assist anyway she could. She had a heart not only for the message of Christ, but also for the needs of others. Her legacy will always be in our hearts as will her songs. We will miss you Dottie and can't wait to see you again. You are now a part of that great cloud of witnesses, Dottie. Thank God for people like you.

I knew and loved Dottie. Reading all the kind remarks about her has been uplifting for me. I also know Larry, Judy, Chris, and Ronnie (the bus driver). Dottie loved these people very much. Because of their love and devotion to her, she was able to get back to what she loved - travelling to various places to be among people singing and talking about our Lord and Savior. Please, if you are financially able, help their families defray their expenses for travel, food, and hotels. If Dottie could, she would ask that too. As reported on another site, checks can be made out to : the Larry Ferguson Fund and mailed to: Citizens National Bank P.O. Box 3717 Springfield, MO 65808

I will be traveling to Nashville TN to attend the Going Home Celebration for Ms. Dottie. My daughter and a friend (I hope) will be attending together.

The first time that my daughter and I met Ms. Dottie was in Tuscaloosa, AL after some major tornadoes had come through and done a lot of damage in the city. There was an issue with the power at the church and not sure if the concert could/would happen. Dottie was performing with the Crabb family. The show did go on and it was amazing as always. After the show, my daughter 10 (I think) at the time, and I were in line to talk to Dottie and get her autograph. Dottie asked my daughter if she enjoyed her music too and her reponse was "when you live with my mother you do not have a choice". Of course Ms. Dottie got a kick out of that and just laughed about it. We kept talking for another 10-15 minutes and we moved on. I throughly enjoyed it and it left a lasting impression on both of us.

A couple of years after that concert, I was in Mobile to see Ms. Dottie again and had the opportunity to talk to her and she asked me if my daughter was still listening to her music. I told her she was and she laughed and ask if it was because I was making her. Now my daughter listens on her own and is loving it all.

When we heard of Ms. Dottie's passing we both shed some tears of unbelief and then had to MARVEL at the site of Ms. Dottie living out the words to her songs. She is not hurting any more and can sing with the AMAZING HEAVENLY CHOIR (with Sister Vestal) and stand, dance and shout and not get tired. What a SITE TO BEHOLD.

Dottie's Last Interview To Air On Gospel Music Channel

I thought this was pretty neat that they are going to do that. I heard that Reba is taking care of arranging the singers no clue who it will be.

This is sad to hear. She wrote a lot of good music that will stand the test of time.

I don't blame the family because they don't want to really make a spectcale on this occasion. The loss was very, very sudden and they need each other to lean on. I hope the fans and those who loved Dottie understand and leave the family alone at this time and let them have their private time together. They will have time to make a statement to the public soon and I know that Reba, Dony and their children understand that God has his plan for everything and that they are going to come out stronger for it.

BTW, I did not know that Dony, Reba and Destiny are pastors now...

I'm disappointed they aren't going to stream the service live...but I understand. I am sure it will be a comfort to her family seeing the outpouring of love from so many people.

The photos they used are gorgeous, and I met several close friends and family of hers tonight. It was sad...

I also was at visitation early last evening until late. It was a closed coffin, covered with a beautiful spray of red roses. There was a huge photo of Dottie behind, and a streaming video of her singing and a lot of pix of her with her friends, etc. The flowers were beautiful. They came from so many, Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, Carman, Oak Ridge Boys, Porter Wagnor Family, Blackwoods, Dr Jerry & Lil Jan Goff, Beckie Simmons Agency, Barbara Mandrell, Sawyer Brown, Jim Bakker, etc. The flowers just kept coming in, from fans and the entertainment industry , etc, just too many to name. I'm sure there will be plenty more today. We will be heading for the visitation again shortly. I did see Judy Ferguson, who was in lots of pain, but trying to maintain. Larry will not be able to be at Monday's service. Reba & Dony were so nice & pleasant to everyone. Buck & his wife, Mae, were there also. There were people there that I knew and some I didn't know know. Did get to meet Joanne Cash {sister of Johnny} Yates, who along with her husband, Harry, was intrumental in beginning the Cowboy Church's in 1990. She is a very precious lady.

Judy, thank you for giving us coverage and a birds-eye view of the memorial for those of us who are unable to be there. I was surprized to hear that Lily Tomlin was there--i guess because she appeared in the movie, "Nashville" and was connected w/Dottie some kind of way through the film in the 70's.

Sandi, I imagine will be singing, "We shall behold him." I liked her version of the song and Vickie Winans' version of it too.

Lily Tomlin wasn't there, but the names listed above were from those who had sent flowers already. And Lily did send flowers. Today was much like last evening, not a huge crowd, but people did keep streaming through. Tomorrow will be the time when most of the people who loved Dottie will show up. The weekend is a bad time for those who travel and sing. I do look for a full church. LuAnn Burger & her daughter where there today to pay their respect to the family. Judy Ferguson appeared to be feeling a bit better today, but she's still in pain. She will be going back MO to stay with Larry on Tuesday. I will not post regarding tomorrow's service until late tomorrow night or early Tuesday, as I will be traveling back to SC. Please pray for traveling grace.

I'm very sad to hear about Dottie Rambo's death. She was a great singer and songwriter and will be missed by her family, friends and fans. My favorite songs of hers include "Tears Will Never Stain The Streets Of That City", "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and "If That Isn't Love".

I believe that she is now singing her songs with the heavenly choir of angels and dear saints that have gone on before her. Someday we'll all join her and the heavenly chorus as we sing praises to our King!
