Okay...today was a much prettier day so Singleton and I stopped at each lake on our way home from work.

First on the list was my favorite bayfront park on Lake Michigan. Here's a few pics of Singleton just enjoying the beautiful day..

The Petoskey Marina

Petoskey Bayfront

Petoskey Breakwall

Then on the way home we go by Walloon Lake, which is a very beautiful lake, but it was hard to find a place to get a good picture with Singleton in it. This was the best I could get. I tried to find something to put him up on higher to try and avoid getting much of that guardrail in the picture but no such luck on that. But, you can still see that Walloon Lake is beautiful. If any of you know much about Ernest Hemingway you've probably heard of it before as he had a home here.

Walloon Lake

Then when we got back home we made another stop at Lake Charlevoix. Singleton found a tree to climb.

And we tried a little fishing and he got quite a catch!!

Thanks, it's actually my bird feeder. But don't worry, it doesn't have bird germs on it. I haven't used it for a couple years and it's been cleaned. I thought it was perfect for him to enjoy the outdoors on.

I have a few more adventures planned for him tomorrow before I start getting him ready for his next destination. Tonight we're just chillin' at home again.

Great pics, Veronica!!!

Looks like you were shopping in a Bass Pro Shop?

It's a place called Mackinaw Outfitters. Kind of like a Cabela's. I love the aquarium there.

Alright Tink....you're good! I found out today that the Mackinaw Outfitters is an affiliate of the Bass Pro Shop.

Singleton and I had quite an unexpted treat today. My uncle does trolley tours for the fudgies and I went to get a picture of Singleton on the trolley. I wasn't going to go on the tour because it's quite expensive. But then my uncle's boss told me to just go and enjoy the tour, his treat! Yeah! It was a three hour tour that went all over the Mackinac area and then also went up into the Upper Peninsula as well. I have a bunch of pictures to share of our adventures from the day but I'm pretty zonked right now so I will work on getting them posted tomorrow.

I mostly wanted to make a quick stop in here to tell Tink she was right.

A three-hour tour? Good thing you made it back in one piece! haha

Okay...here are the pictures of our adventures from yesterday.

First stop was in my hometown of Cheboygan where we stopped to see the Coast Guard Cutter "The Mackinac". The cutter helps keep the Lakes open in the winter.

The Mackinac Cutter

(just a little side note that probably doesn't matter much but in case you're wondering why sometimes I spell Mackinac with a "c" at the end and sometimes with a "w" at the end, it is because it is spelled both ways...just depends on whether the native americans or the French had influence on the naming.)

Next on our stop was intended to just be for a picture or two. But like I mentioned last night my uncle's boss let Singleton and I go on the tour for free. So, here are some of the pictures of our wonderful trolley tour.

Singleton is first on the trolley

close up on the trolley

He thought he could sit by himself until the fudgies all got on so he was a gentleman and gave up his seat.
Enjoying the ride

Here's a view out the side looking over Lake Huron while we were going over the Mighty Mac. Sorry Singleton isn't in this one. He was looking a little green at the time I was taking this.

View from the Mighty Mac

First stop once we got to the Upper Peninsula was a historical site in St. Ignace where there was a mission started that brought Christianity to the area. The statue in the back is of Father Marquette who was the leader of that mission.

Then we got to visit the Ojibwa Indian Museum.

The Ojibwa Indian Museum

Singleton makes a new friend...

New friend

Here we are inside a tee pee where the walls are made from birch bark..

Inside a tee pee

There were some beautiful flowers outside the museum we stopped to enjoy...

Stopping to smell the flowers

Next stop was Castle Rock. Here is a picture at the base...

At the base of Castle Rock

And here is a picture of the top...I did not go to the top. I've been up there before and I know it would have been cool to get pictures of Singleton at the top but the knee I broke last winter was really giving me fits and I couldn't do all those steps....I think it's about 175 steps.

Castle Rock

(another side note....I needed help getting Singleton into that picture so that isn't my hand....just didn't want anyone to think I have man-hands )

I think Singleton's favorite part of the whole trip was when he was allowed to drive the trolley.

Singleton behind the wheel

He did so well he earned THE hat...

THE hat

After we got back to Cheboygan we took a stroll out on the boardwalk that overlooks Lake Huron. This boardwalk is very special to me because my uncle built it. It really needs a paint job but it's cool to go on the top deck and overlook the Lake. I tried to get some pictures up on the deck but the sun was shining just right and I couldn't get any good ones.

So...there's our day. I'm now getting him packed up and ready for his next adventure.

He packed his bags and left my place earlier this week. He headed over to Shema's and I did get confirmation he made it safely. He's probably just resting up from his journey.

I need him by Aug 21st, as I'm leaving on the 22nd for Sharon's wedding, and also going to the MLS game at RFK on the 23rd after the wedding! LOL

I'll only have him for a few days......just wanted him to be part of the wedding festivities.

Ray and I were just talking the other day about how we hope Lisa brings him to the wedding.

Maybe I should put his name on the seating list as your date Lisa. What is his full name?

Just put down "Singleton" - I've not come up with a first name. If I did, I think you know what it would be (just think MO)

We've all been unable to agree on a first name. Ask five different people here and you'll get five different names. I'm partial to Junior though that didn't originate with me.

But Singleton stuck for a surname pretty much right away.
