I don't see another thread on this, so here goes...

Greater Vision just sent out an email update that Tribute Quartet's tenor Jacob Kitson will replace Jason Waldroup. To get a good feel for what Jacob sounds like, visit their website--he's featured on their current single, which plays in its entirety on the main page.

They could have not made a better selection. Jacob is a great singer and has a lot of energy on stage. Love to hear him sing. A great loss for Tribute but a great gain for Greater Vision.

I'm really happy about this announcement. I've heard Jacob a few times and loved him! I think he's a great fit for Greater Vision.

More on the announcement:

Gerald Wolfe states... "We are really excited about Jacob joining Greater Vision. The first time I met him, which was about one year ago, I knew he was a very special and gifted young man with a real heart for ministry. He was the first person to call me after the announcemet of Jason's departure, and he is the only person we actually auditioned. We knew he was the right man from the start."

Rodney Griffin said... "I look forward to what the Lord has in store as Jacob joins our ministry. Jacob says he's been a Greater Vision fan since he was a teenager. Now that's he's joining us, we'll see how long he remains one! LOL"

Jacob commented..."I am looking forward to serving side by side each night with men who have dedicated their lives to a ministry of Christ-honoring Christian music. I can say this is a great honor and I'm pleased to be part of such a team."

Jason Waldroup, who will be leaving Greater Vision in August, said..."I'm glad we've found someone who I believe is, first and foremost, a man of God. I'm sure everyone who meets him is going to love him. I hope to be a help to him anyway that I can during this transition. God has great things in store for Greater Vision."

Jacob will begin traveling with Greater Vision in June, and his first official concert with the group will be August 6 in Lebanon, Missouri.

Greater Vision will be in the recording studio later this month working on Jacob's debut recording with the group.

Well, I got TWO phone calls, but I had to get dinner ready for hubby!

I am THRILLED! [sm=funny.gif] I can't wait to hear him with Gerald and Rodney. Hopefully, we'll have a new CD by NQC. Dinana promised to bring me a CD she has of Tribute Quartet tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to hearing it.

GV is gonna be in my area in a few weeks. It will be my first time seeing them, besides NQC, and it will be my last opportunity to see them with Jason.

Do you think this change will affect the Fan Award voting for Tribute Quartet (Horizon Group nominee)? Also, what about Jason Waldroup (Tenor nominee)? Finally, do you think the change will affect voting in any of the other categories where Greater Vision is nominated?

I think the Booth Brothers who won the overall Favorite Artist award in 2007 should be a shoe-in in 2008, barring any changes in their group. Of course, they have to contend with some strong competition in addition to Greater Vision. It's possible neither of the two nominated trios will win.

I also believe Tribute's chances of winning Horizon Group will be diminished. I don't think Waldroup or Jonathan Wilburn in the Lead category will be in the running, despite making the Top Five. By the time we get into June, most fans are going to realize they're no longer with their respective groups and decide to vote for someone who is currently active in Southern Gospel instead.

I love Jacob's voice and he is also a preacher. I got to hear him back in Feb. and he done a fabulous job. This is a great thing for him and I know Tribute will miss him. I hope this doesn't effect the voting for horizon group I love tribute they are fantastic and they all are very good singers and great christian men.

I think it is pretty cool that Jason is going to be around to work with Jacob for a while before the transition actually happens.
