Hey Donna! Maybe Jacob will be traveling with them when we see them at the L5 celebration next week. I would be happy to take your picture with him! [:D]

I'd be surprised if he was there, but you never know! I'd like a picture, and thanks so much for the offer!!!

servants -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 6:52:11 AM)

I really like Tribute and I hate it for them but it is good for Greater Vision.

Seaton -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 7:25:45 AM)

GV made a great choice. Jacob is one of the best new tenors to come along in Southern Gospel music. I am sorry that Tribute will now have to find another tenor singer.

I believe the press release said Jacob would be starting in June.

In checking Tribute's website, they don't have anything scheduled on May 24th, and they are in Alabama on the 25th. It is possible that Jacob could come. (Just to visit...not to perform)

DeeAnnBailey -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 8:04:50 AM)

I'll miss Jason but I'm looking forward to hearing Jacob with them. I saw him with Tribute on the cruise and really enjoyed him.

Godisgood04 -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 9:36:00 AM)

I've known Jacob since the beginning of Tribute. He's truly a great guy and lots of fun to be around! I'm sad in one way (for Tribute), but I'm so excited for Jacob and Greater Vision, I believe he will be a great addition!

Do you think this change will affect the Fan Award voting for Tribute Quartet (Horizon Group nominee)?

Well let's look at the Top 5 groups: Aaron & Amanda Crabb, Crabb Revival, Soul'd Out, Crist Family, and Tribute.

From that list, I think the Crabb groups will split each others votes to some degree, leaving Tribute as a likely winner. However, now with this change, I think Crabb Revival may possibly be the favorite - but the best-case scenario would give Soul'd Out the award. [:)]

Also, what about Jason Waldroup (Tenor nominee)? Finally, do you think the change will affect voting in any of the other categories where Greater Vision is nominated?

One pattern I've noticed with the SN Fan Awards is that a major change to the groups does not seem to affect voting until the next year, for whatever reason. If that pattern follows GV, this change will not affect them at all in their categories.

quote:

I think the Booth Brothers who won the overall Favorite Artist award in 2007 should be a shoe-in in 2008, barring any changes in their group. Of course, they have to contend with some strong competition in addition to Greater Vision. It's possible neither of the two nominated trios will win.

The Booth Brothers are obvious favorites - just look at how many times Michael and Ronnie are nominated individually in categories in which they weren't usually present.

I think Triumphant has a chance, but they don't have nearly as many nominations as last year in the Top 5. Greater Vision didn't make the Top 5 last year, and this is one category where the personnel change may actually impact the group, which leads me to believe they won't win. I think that leaves the Inspirations as their chief contender - especially with the current SN front-cover article.

quote:

I don't think Waldroup or Jonathan Wilburn in the Lead category will be in the running, despite making the Top Five. By the time we get into June, most fans are going to realize they're no longer with their respective groups and decide to vote for someone who is currently active in Southern Gospel instead.

I believe you're right.

Or decide 'this is my last chance to vote for them because they left' and they win by a landslide! [:)]

This is possible, but I still find it unlikely.

robertyork -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 10:58:17 AM)

We'll find out September 13 what the fans think and how they voted.

cogsinger -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 10:59:13 AM)

Tribute is gonna be at my church June 8, 2008 and I talked to Gary last night and he said Jacob would be with them for the singing.

Very true - I would not be surprised if people took their 'last chance' to tell Jason (or Jonathan) how much they have loved and appreciated them. It has certainly been done in the past. Many folks decide who they are going to vote for the minute they see the ballot and that thinking doesn't change just because a group changes.

But that would mean that enough planned to vote for them to begin with for them to win. I don't know the answer to that.

It isn't like June is months way - it is only days away.

youngartist -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 11:37:40 AM)

Well I for one have always viewed Jonathan Wilburn as the bar by which all other lead singers are measured, and a win in 2008 as a farewell would be fine with me! It would just pleasantly surprise me, that's all. [:D]

robertyork -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 4:16:20 PM)

Hope Jonathan and Jason both attend NQC this year.

DJSfromCleveland -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 4:29:10 PM)

A good friend of mine called me when this news came out and told me, "The new tenor for Greater Vision is named Jacob Kitten"![:D]

youngartist -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/14/2008 5:03:45 PM)

[:D] Sounds like a line Gerald would use for a while. Imagine the pressure of stepping into the tenor position of one of the hottest groups traveling!

Dinana -> RE: Jacob Kitson joins Greater Vision (5/15/2008 6:28:30 AM)

I was so impressed with the Tribute press release about Jacob. They are some very nice guys!

Tribute Quartet of Nashville, Tenn., would like to congratulate Jacob Kitson on his new positon with Greater Vision. Gary Casto, manager of Tribute Quartet states "Although we are saddened to lose someone who has been like a brother to all the members of our group, we are still very happy for Jacob. He is able to fulfill his life-long dream and we all wish him the best God has to offer in his new direction of ministry". Gary also adds "Just as Greater Vision, Tribute Quartet is excited to see what the future holds and feel very honored to be able to spread the message of the Gospel through the greatest music on earth!"
