In the 1960s, much of which was segregated.

Your superior-toned lecture sounds like a fat kid telling someone who grew up in the Great Depression that they don't know anything about being poor and hungry.

So you guys missed the WHOLE evolution theory, WE CANNOT BE FROM THEM, they are from apes. Still being taught in school, so how does a racist growing up in south misss all that? Yeah right!

I like curious george..so I think maybe some would be offended to have their fav childhood character associated with someone's political views.

T-shirts are a lot like bumper stickers in my opinion...you read them and keep moving..some makes you laugh- some don't...one thing for sure none of us has to buy it if it offends us.

Freedom of speech also includes t-shirts imo.

The fact that some liberals have a point of view, doesn't make it error.

Racism isn't PC.

Pointing it out isn't PC.

Pointint it out in effort to affect change is responsible.

It never ceases to amaze me that that issues that are uncomfortable or on the other hand, TOO COMFORTABLE to mess with are labeled issues of importance only to liberals.

One last thing: the assumption of a person's political affilitation or viewpoint is NOT unilaterally determined by a SINGULAR issue. Saying so doesn't make it so.

The cries of liberalism sound much like "lalalalala I can't hear you".

In truth, the fact is that many absolutely cannot stand the idea that people would have the nerve to actually call out ignorance, bigotry and racism. They find the fact that people have the "arrogance" to do so a sign of change in the atmosphere that has been carefully crafted to keep the status quo.

How dare the victim decry the crime! That is just stepping out of their assigned places. Now get back there and shut up! There is no truth in anything that anyone says that doesn't toe the party line.

Where is this taught? I have not heard this before. Evolution is not racially decided. Either man came from apes, or not.

You choose to see it as race, looking at the part that Obama is black.

I and others choose to look at it in that he resembles Curious George, just as was pointed WC looked like a bulldog.

So what is the problem? Other than you demand I look at race. Which I find odd.

That is one of the underlying reasons why racism increases. Regardless of intent or motivation, if a situation can be rendered in a racial viewpoint, it will be. [:(]

Nope, I hope that folks will acknowledge the problems this country has with race relations and how this political season has pulled the covers off.

I havent' called anyone here racist.

How folks behave and what they say is enough to identify them.

BTW...... going offline to take eldest to get driver's license and enroll him in college.

I believe it was racially motivated. Anyone who has lived for any length of time in the South knows how common it is to refer to blacks as apes or monkeys. I grew up hearing blacks called "Alabama porch monkeys"[:(]
I also heard it taught that blacks were descended from apes, not humans, there fore they are not human at all, and are really animals.

The man was stupid to have the t shirts printed, violated copyright laws and offend a very, very large segment of the community in that town.

If this had happened in the Northwest, the bar owner may be able to claim ignorance. Not in Georgia. No way. [sm=icon_smile_disapprove.gif]

My point is that it is not taught in schools. The boards are just a representation of ignorance in many points. It is just like the differences of opinion in all areas of life, science, etc. There will always be people who behave offensively and in ignorance. It is not relegated solely to racism, but in racial conversations, these occurences are given added weight without reason.

Slander is slander be it racist or not. I get tired of people slandering one another. I also get tired of everyone just waiting to point a finger at someone for slandering them or someone else. Half the time slander is not slander at all. You can almost turn anything into a slander if you try hard enough. The bottom line is people like conflict.

Again, I was born and raised in the Deep, Wallace-supporting, segregated South and these boards are the I've come across a monkey resemblance with blacks.

I do not intentionally belittle any person because of their race. But I once had a person become violently angry with me for using a word that was never intended racially. That was 1971. The next time someone took offense to my choice of a word was... YESTERDAY in another Election 2008 folder.

Remarkably, the man offended by my choice of a word accepted my apology and we became pals, even though he didn't profess to be a Christian. The one offended yesterday apparently thinks I'm an insincere bigot.

I see Obama as an extreme leftist that I fear to see in the Whitehouse. That, I'm afraid, makes me a racist unless I'm PC in every choice of word I make.

Finally some honesty, how are we ever gonna get past it, if we don't talk honestly, I can now admit, I was a racist. Could'nt stand white people, my own mother included.

But after getting saved, I had to give it up. period.

I'm always amazed by the racism coming thru on this Christian board.

Tells me some basics aint been got to=LOve your neighbor as you love yourself.

Who on this board is leading the charge in Jamiels Law? A boy murdered because he was black. Join me in this fight on racism.

When racism is there, it is there. Obama looking like Curious George and saying so, is not racist.

I am not an Obama supporter. Too liberal for me. That does not make me a racist. What would make me a racist is belittling him due to his ancestry or identified racial grouping. Or making derogatory t-shirts with his face on a monkey's body.
