You heard wrong...it makes a lot of difference.

Ok, fair enough. That's why i said, I wasn't sure how true it was.
I would think that matching the bitrate that Cd's are produced at would be optimum. Do you have any idea what bitrate CD's are produced at??
Common sense would tell me that if you select a bitrate higher than the source, then that WOULD be overkill.

Can you please elaborate, Adam?

Can you tell the difference on a car CD player or does it require a good set of headphones to hear the differences?

Where do you notice the enhanced quality? Highs? Lows?

The biggest difference I notice in bitrates is in the volume levels on the songs. I can't really tell any difference in the car, but in my office it makes a big difference. Where I work, I'm in a secluded office so I can really crank up the volume. Most of the older CDs that I ripped 3-4 years ago are noticeable lower quality than when I started importing at the higher bitrate. Most of these older tracks sound good enough, but they can sound a little muddy at both ends. The higher bitrates seem to have better clarity, especially at higher volumes (or maybe my mind...er, ears, is playing tricks on my
