This thread was not meant so much about the Rapture as an opportunity to for us to take a more in-depth look at where we are spiritually. I'm concerned about others as well as myself knowing for certain that we are heaven bound. I do not like the thought of knowing that a close Christian friend or an aquaintance in my church family may not be truly saved. I have know way of knowing but it is a fact that many will be left behind. At first they will be in shock but when reality sets in, they will understand why Christ came and yet they remain.

There are so many things that we are uncertain of in this life but as for me and my house, we will be with the Lord should He return at this very moment.

If there is a rapture and if these are left behind it is truly a better fate than dieing and going to hell. We should worry more about people dieing without Christ than those left behind.

The rapture is not our concern. We are concerned with our witness, our walks, our love for others and doing His will now. The future will take care of itself.

If your name is destined for the Book of Life, no one can take that away. Not a bad witness. Not a bad moment, nothing. God's will, will be done.

We do not save people. We are the messengers. The examples. The hands and feet of God.

I disagree! If God felt it important to put in His word, we better pay attention.

Again, I disagree! From what I have read, the fate of someone who gets a wake-up-call via the rapture and are left behind, and then accepts Jesus, is not something to take lightly.

I think you misunderstood what SIM1 was trying to say. He was speaking of the lost. How can you say you disagree that it is better for a lost soul to survive until the rapture than die? If a lost soul dies tomorrow, he has a 0% chance of an eternity with God, and a 100% chance of an eternity in Hell. However, if that lost person does not die, and suffers the rapture, at least he has a chance. That's what I think SIM1 was trying to say, but correct me if I'm wrong.

However, I do agree with you that the rapture is our concern. God warns us to be ready for that day, and to make sure our hearts are clean for the day our Savior returns. The last thing a Christian wants is to spend hiss/her last moment on earth in sin. But, God also warns us not to take thought of the day and hour at which it will happen. We need to continue our witnessing and not get caught up with the time at which we think it will happen. But the rapture is and should be a concern for every Christian. A book of the Bible was written for it!

You would be correct.

It is a concern but I don't think a primary one. Tommorow will take care of itself. We don't know the time or the date or what form the true Last Days will take. We do know the work ahead of us here and now.

,

I did miss it. I don't think it is a primary concern either but let's not lessen the importance of the fact that IT is possible today and that many think they are ready.

I don't want to be taken, not that I don't beleive I am saved but simply because the rapture is about God moving against the powers of satan and I would love to be in that advance preaching the gospel like there were no tomorrows. You see at present many of us live ordinary lives with there being no real urgency in our faith and lives and I guess this is the measure of faith God has given us in that if a man proves to be faithful after being given the faith the size of a mustard seed how much more faithful will he be when he sees as he is seen?

No like Christ and Paul all Chirstians should struggle and wrestle with their desire to go and be with the Lord and stay for the sake of the world and those we love. Personally, to see all the faithful be taken in an instant, and I am not sure the taking will be phsyical or just a spiritual event, would be a faith enpowering pretty much along the same lines as Paul had on the road to Damascus.

Do you think the faithful will be taken or just killed? If taken meant to be killed for our faith maybe fewer would want to be raptured.

Terryjohn,

I don't believe that you have grasped the significance of what the Rapture truly means. It is not neccessarily about God moving against Satan's power as it is God sparing His children from what will follow.

quote:

You see at present many of us live ordinary lives with there being no real urgency in our faith and lives

There is no ordinary life. There is always urgency in faith. Life is a great gift and to sum it up as ordinary is the same as telling God that He made a mistake in the gift of life to you. 60 or 70 years is barely a second in comparison to eternity and so we have little time to be ordinary.

quote:

No like Christ and Paul all Chirstians should struggle and wrestle with their desire to go and be with the Lord and stay for the sake of the world and those we love.

No! Our goal should not be such a struggle. It should be only to do God's will... and His will is that we take as many as we can with us whether we die or are raptured.

quote:

...If taken meant to be killed for our faith maybe fewer would want to be raptured.

Understand this! God is the one that saves and it is He who provides the way for someone to believe in Christ with or without our help.

If you do not desire to be raptured. If you do not desire to be in the very presence of God at any given moment, then there are holes in your spirituality.
