I am VERY emotional today. I have been crying almost constantly since I woke up this morning. I am going to go attempt to shave my legs (hopefully for the last time before the baby comes) and then eat some lunch.

I am so tired of people calling and emailing me to ask if the baby is here yet. I am ready to throw my phone out the window!! Now I am only answering if the caller ID says it is Chris or my mom.

Emily I had to tell my mom to stop asking how I was feeling. I told her if things changed I'd let her know. Conversations are much better now.

Are you having any BH?

Good luck with shaving your legs, it took me twice as long as normal and it was only from the knees down.. It must have been a sight to behold.. but man I'm happy I did it.

So, is it not ok to ask a soon to be mom how she is doing? Should someone back off entirely? I can totally understand not asking if the baby is here yet, but when I was 10 days late, most people just left me alone.

I think it's better to ask if there's anything they need help with, or if you're close, take her out to an air-conditioned movie or lunch or something. It's not that very pregnant women don't want people to care for them...it's that they don't want to be pestered (or FEEL pestered even if that wasn't the intent) over something that they have no control over.

I personally wish people who hardly ever speak to me in church would just stay away from me the last month or so. You didn't talk to me before, and it's obvious my baby is still in there...so why ask?

Very good point Donna.

Sideways - I would rather my mom ask "Is there anything you need that I can do for you from here?" Or "How is the baby doing?" or "How are you feet doing, I know they were swollen the other day"

but to hear "How are you feeling?" "Have you had it yet?" or "Have you had any contractions?" from like 6 people a day or every other day just gets old. I started getting that from co-workers towards the end, and even when they were just teasing me I wanted to shake them.

Ask me about something NON delivery related any day

I would say it's fine if that's not the ONLY thing you are asking her....like calling to get a recipe and asking "so how is everything going"....not tracking them down by phone JUST to ask if baby is here yet. Or even worse, asking at church or the store or something when OBVIOUSLY they haven't had the baby yet!!!

I would agree - calling to ask SPECIFICALLY if baby's here yet is silly. If baby's here, you will probably know, if you're a close friend or family member! 'How are you feeling?' is definitely an irritating question. "I feel 40 weeks pregnant. How are you?"

Yup. No fun. Because the answers are usually "Rotten, obviously not, and no". And when it starts at 37 weeks and goes past 40 weeks, it just gets ridiculous. People IRL had this weird attitude that something was wrong with me for not having my baby on or before my due date. "You haven't had the baby yet? Why not? Why didn't you go into the hospital and just *have* him? Why are you torturing yourself like this?".
I would have loved to hear "How are you doing? You look beautiful! Is there anything I can do for you? When can I bring you a casserole?". That is not what I heard, but it's what I try to do for the pregnant ladies I know IRL.

{{{Emily}}} I totally understand.

Just wait till *after* you've had the baby, and people look at you and ask "haven't you had it yet?" - I can assure you, it's worse! lol

Yeah. SOmeone asked me last week if I was pregnant. But that's not nearly as bad as a friend of mine who's "baby" is 6 years old, and when she walked into the butcher shop the man said "So, when are you due?" She said it really made her realize how desperately she needed to work on her weight loss.

Try it when you've NEVER been pregnant! Now no one asks and I'd gladly tell 'em!

Hang in there Emily. Thinking about ya, and one way or another, you'll have your little one VERY soon!

I had that happen once. I brought my new baby into work to show her off to my co-workers, and the first person I met said, "Haven't you had that baby yet?" I said, "Yes, she's right here" and pointed to the carseat I was carrying. He was a bit embarrased.

(((((Emily))))) I'm sorry you're feeling so rotten. It is so worth the wait in the end though. I will be praying for God's grace and peace for you during this tryibg time.

You look absolutely beautiful in those pictures! I like that color on you. And I love the big round belly!

I agree about the pestering. Very annoying! I had people calling too. I just started letting the machine get everything and called people back when I felt like it.

Mom and I were at a consignment shop when Gabby was about 3 days old. She was in her bucket on the floor *right* by the counter where the owner couldn't see her so she asked my mom when her grandbaby was due

It is very comfortable, but it was also very expensive. It is an Aimee gown. I also have a lavender gown, a light pink wrap robe, and olive green pajamas. They were my treat I bought with our economic stimulus money. (the rest went to bills. )

What is wrong with me?!?! I started crying at 10:00 because I was hungry but was nauseous and had heartburn so nothing sounded good. I cried for about an hour. I have been up all night. Chris woke up at 5:00 and I started crying again. He needed to leave for work but I was holding onto him and crying because I didn't want him to go. He left 10 minutes later than normal because of me. I still can't stop crying. I miss him so much and I don't want to be alone.

Call a family member or someone from your church and have them sit with you. I'm praying for you, Emily. It's hormones, and probably a bit of fear/apprehension - you will be ok. In the meantime, put some worship music on, close your eyes, and focus on the Lord. Think of Him holding His arms out to you and embracing you.

Oh Emly (how I used to say Emily when I was little), I wish I was closer, I'd come sit with you. We could be giant and emotional together. I'm not at that point Emily but I do agree with Manda, you need to get ahold of someone who can come visit with you and help.

I've had a few bouts of anxiety but nothing like you are describing.

You having any signs of labor? You almost sound like you are in labor, in that anxious "I can't do this phase".

Me? I got a little clingy tonight with hubby and encouraged him to come home at a decent time. He forewarned his boss that I've increased BIG TIME in BH and they are starting to get uncomfortable so they know it's impending.

Does Chris' work know you could go anytime?

You have everything ready?

I find the more I have ready and 'in control' of the better I can cope with the emotional roller coaster.

Emily, I am praying for you. I haven't been there so I have no advice to offer.
I do love your latest pictures however. I think if I looked that great in a nightgown I'd be wearing it out of the house.
