With the exception of licensed brothels in NV, "strip clubs" are not the same as "houses of ill repute" which typically refers to brothels, or whore-houses. While some dancers will make side deals with clients, it is very illegal and they will get fired for it, and the club can be fined and/or lose it's license. Different states have different laws, in Utah there is a barrier between the stage and the area where customers are, other states allow the dancer to "lap dance" but the limit of touch is different from state to state. Nowhere do I know that the client is legally allowed to touch the dancer. Strip clubs work off lust and leading the clients on, in a seductive or provactive manner. The whole point is to get the client thinking that there is a chance for things to move to the next level. (I know most of this from working in law enforcement, learned other parts watching MSNBC and such)

ORIGINAL: Bluethread Biblically speaking, there is no clear commandment regarding viewing someone who is not your relative naked. Yeshua's prohibition is basically, adutory is in the eye of the beholder, as long as there is no touching. In fact I am not sure if fornication is directly prohibited, however, there are status that give guidance on how to handle the consequences. I know this sounds like license to sin, but if someone could find the verse, I would be happy to be proven wrong. You're kidding, right? this is just another thread that should not even be here............so edifying Excuse me but it's MY thread and I disagree COMPLETELY with the post you quoted and even said so! Don't knock the entire thread over one lousy post.

ORIGINAL: BibleBased Why do some Christians find the right path, but prefer to spend time with those who haven't IN places that most Christians want to run a mile from. There is hardly, if any?, non believers who can't be approached in a safe place - away from any evil they do. Show me a person who doesn't buy grocerys for one example. Or go to the shopping centre for everything else they need to buy. Engage them THERE. Why go to a drug house? Why go to pubs or clubs? Why go to brothels or strip clubs? You can reach out to the same people in 'safer' enviroments. You do NOT have a personal shield, being a Christian. You can be physically attacked. You can be raped. You can be tempted to sin - however strong you think your faith is. Think of some famous preachers who helped so many and then 'fell into sin' themselves. Avoid these places. Take part in Christian groups and activities. Mix with trustworthy believers. If you THEN want to do outreach/ witnessing - do it safely, where SATAN can't easily attack on so many levels. Don't go near these places, especially if they were your normal location before finding faith. The whole place, sin, people's attitude should discust you. Meet those same people elsewhere in their lives. God bless, BibleBased. The reason the former stripper that started the Jesus Christ's Girls Girls Girls ministry did so was because she after getting saved was a "jerk for Jesus" and condemned everyone. But when another stripper she had worked with died, she realized this girl was not saved because no one had reached out to her. She wanted to reach out to other girls in the line of work that had no one reaching out to them. I think it's admirable. These girls have no desire to get onstage and perform again and they are spreading the gospel and sparing those girls still in the clubs 5 minutes of degrading themselves when they'd normally be performing.

You do NOT have a personal shield, being a Christian. You're absolutely right. You have something (excuse me, someone) infinitely better - the God of the universe. Now, obviously, you don't want to be stupid about where you go. If you struggle with the sin of drug addiction, then going somewhere that drugs are easily accessible would be foolish. If you're in a location where Christians will be killed for their faith, you want to be careful about how you go about presenting the Gospel. But, the truth is, some people are called to minister in dark places. I've met a minister who worked in a Christian homeless shelter in a small part of Chicago called Blood Alley - one of the most violent parts of town, which is how it got its name. When he first started, it was a dark place indeed. But because of his faithful ministry, with God's help, it has turned around remarkably. Imagine how much less effective his ministry would have been if he had set up his homeless shelter somewhere "safe."

Actually going inside houses of ill-repute, whether they are technically considered brothels, porn shops, crack-houses, abandominiums, or strip tease clubs, is very risky business. However, going to bad neighborhoods where seedy bars, strip clubs, drug suppliers and users, pimps and prostitutes reside is a different matter. Once a man approached me with the Gospel of Christ. He gave me a tract and the location of their building was in the pits of town. To get to that building, I had to pass bars, strip joints, drug sellers and users, pimps and prostitutes, porn shops, places and people promoting all kinds of debauchery. I was not a Christian, but believe me, I prayed as I walked through this neighborhood to find where these believers congregated. (I wouldn't do such a thing now unaccompanied. But I was young and naive.) Their building stood out as a beacon of light amidst the surrounding depravity. I entered that building an unbeliever and left with the joy of the Lord and a newfound faith. These Christians were a beacon of light and dared to go where many Christians would not. They were a convicting presence in the midst of lawlessness. I have witnessed for Christ in some of the most deplorable places you can imagine. There are many who live in these waterless, sin-sick places that are ready to hear the message of the Gospel of Christ. But one must have wisdom and the leading of the Holy Spirit to be confident to enter this arena. It is not for everyone. "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good cheer!" Heavendweller
