ORIGINAL: garsyt Must be nice just to be able to pick up and move. Not so easy when there is a house that would have to be sold and another found to move into. and in this economy try selling a house and getting a decent price for it. Not so easy when there are kids involved and schools to consider. Not so easy when one doesn't know if they'll clear the next round of layoffs or will have to be looking for a job again soon, and where that job would be. Gas prices have been pretty stable around here at about $2.73 per gallon. Now it truly is about the same as a gallon of milk. Blessings, Garsy very true. I have brought this up a couple of times over the past couple of months on this thread. Sure, someone can say, "I'll move CLOSER to work"....but, then, what happens when that job ends....and, a NEW job is located BACK to where you USED to live? You're back in the same boat... When we moved here to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex....we spent 2 years renting, figuring out where the schools were that we would want our kids to go to (this was before kids), and a place that was convenient to almost anywhere....and, at the time, it was really close to work (I could come home for lunch most days). But, times change. And, now I work 32 miles/45 minutes away. Driving is my only option...and most people that work here live on "this side of the world" (Fort Worth), while I live in Dallas. I could move closer to work. To a place right up the street. But, why? As garsy said, new schools, new home (MUCH higher mortgage)...and, I am 1/3 of the way paying my current mortgage....and, will be finished paying off WELL BEFORE retirement.... I moved all over the country for the first few years right out of college (to simply get the "right experience" to start my career...wherever I could get it)....but, now, we are staying put. as someone told us when we were looking for a house.......live where you really WANT to live, and don't entirely base it on where your job is.....because the location of your job is always "subject to change"....(in the past 10 years, since we got the house, this is job #3, and the fourth since we've moved to DFW) Gas is dropping to 2.49 at a few stations on my commute today.

I'm at 2.75. However, I'll probably get 40-50 cents off a gallon by my next fill up and it may go down by then too.

I filled up the truck for $2.28 last night. It's a truck, so it still put a dent in the wallet. But still...

HERE'S A GREAT WAY TO LOOK AT THINGS! It's from a blog post from www.kingdommatters.blogspot.com I got in an email! God's Plan for the Global Economic Collapse of 2008 by Steven Lambert In this crucial hour when not only Americans but all peoples of all nations collectively are faced with the catastrophic effects of the most expansive economic collapse in the annals of human history, it is calming, comforting, and cheering to know that the Sovereign and Almighty God has a plan, has eternally known what the plan is, and that His plan—for individual believers and His true Body alike—is not for harm, calamity, disaster, or destruction, but welfare, good, prosperity, peace, and a hope-filled future. I almost stopped for $2.15 this morning, but decided to wait to see if it gets any lower by this afternoon.

We are at 2.81. I am happy about that. It can keep dropping. :) I do feel at some point it will balance out. But when is that?
