I filled up for 1.46 today. I was standing there thinking "Maybe I can get my van filled up for about $25 (17-18 gallons)." It stopped at exactly $25. I didn't even top it off.

I was feeling soo good about finding gas for $2.35....

until I saw zoe's post.

Let me clarify to make you feel better. The price on the sign is 2.06. I had 60 cents a gallon off because it was the gas station tied to my grocery store.

Our gas actually went up again. Shaking my head as I write this.

garsyt -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/14/2008 4:12:19 PM)

Filled up today at a local BP station for $1.86 a gallon.

Blessings,

Garsy

Down another 5 cents to $2.949! Maybe the state Attorney General's investigation of the refineries is begniing to pay (in addition to the drop in oil prices affecting the refineries feedstock - the North Slope oil fields).

1.89 here. we are going to fill our gas cans this weekend.we get windstorms here and use the generator when the power fails. it is nearly impossible to get gas when power is out and if we do the lines are looooong.

danas_mom -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/15/2008 3:12:57 PM)

I filled up for $1.84/gal yesterday. That was nice. [:D]

reach -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/16/2008 4:24:32 PM)

Roberta_ -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/20/2008 1:41:48 AM)

ladioffaith -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/20/2008 1:46:45 AM)

It's running around $1.76 in my area .... now if I only had a running car to fuel up ....

I voted, "My wages are falling as gas prices fall, so it's not an issue for me." Earlier today, my boss and I thought I'd get at least some of my hours back. By the end of the day, our boss took back his word. So now I am wondering how I'm going to get by. The Bible says it best, "All men are liars ..."

A co-worker said when he sees gas prices falling, he is bummed because he knows the stock market is falling as well. I said, "well, a third of my 401K was lost in the stock market, and I have to make up my money somehow ...

As of yesterday, we are at $1.79. I was watching the news and heard snipits from a report on the falling gas prices. Now they are rep[orting what a bad thing falling gas prices are! It was terrible when they were up for the consumer and now it's terrible for the supplier that they are down. It wouldn't be a problem from the beginning if the greedy speculators weren't greedy. They have a lot to do with the economic crisis we are facing.

It breaks my heart that the oil companies and speculators aren't celebrating their losses.
On the other hand they aren't crying for us because we are saving some money either.[8|]

Consecrated2God -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/22/2008 8:24:27 AM)

I saw it at $1.69 yesterday! I'm about to the point where I don't think anyone knows what makes oil prices go up or down. They contradict themselves all the time.

GregandJenny -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/22/2008 1:47:28 PM)

I never thought i'd see the day where gas in western Washington was 1.96.

but it is so!

Consecrated2God -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/22/2008 2:15:11 PM)

How are we coping? We're turning right back to old habits of jumping in the car and going to the store whenever we need something instead of shopping for a good deal online first. Argh.

stamper_ben -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/23/2008 9:10:48 PM)

Not me. Even though I saw 1.53 at the Phillips 66 Friday night and it is around 1.65 elsewhere, I am still combining errands when making trips.

Roberta_ -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/23/2008 9:17:53 PM)

$1.93

garsyt -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/24/2008 11:34:53 AM)

Hey Lisa! We'll be coming through Terra Haute, Wednesday night late. I'll wave on the way through!

Saw gas Saturday for $1.69! Hubby filled up my van on Friday for $36! It's been a VERY long time since that has happened!

But I still combine trips, schedule doctor/dentist visits for the same day (Ty has a dental appt. at 2:30 and Aryn has an orthodontist appt. in the same complex at the same time), and don't come home if I'm going to have to just turn around and go back in an hour anyway.

Blessings,

Garsy

Consecrated2God -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/24/2008 12:07:58 PM)

If I see you I'll wave back! [:D]

reach -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (11/24/2008 1:56:24 PM)

I still am doing the same thing. When I get my new job, I am going to look for someone to commute with, even if it is a few days a week, as driving in the carpool lane saves a lot of time.

garsyt -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (12/11/2008 2:23:18 PM)

Gas is at $1.27 at one station in town! They are a new station and are saying at their grand opening this weekend it's going to be even CHEAPER!

My ds is hoping that it is under $1 because if it is I told him that we'd take the family out for dinner!

Blessings,

Garsy

what ever happened to the congressional hearings and investigations into those "greedy" oil companies?
did the oil companies all of a sudden decide to slash their margins and profits (which were fairly "average" to begin with)...in order to be "nice"?

what exactly did GOVERNMENT do to "force" the oil companies to lower the price of gas at the pump?

two words: absolutely nothing.

the lowering of oil and gasoline prices are due to letting the free markets work.

Not exactly. The government didn't have anything to do with the lowering. The free market did tank and with it so did oil. Also OPEC is not getting along and very well could be ending. They are distrustful of each other and don't believe each member will cut production as expected. Probably, because the members haven't cut production. We will see if they can come to some sort of agreement on Dec 17 at their next meeting. If they all cut production, we will see the gas prices rise again.

ot4christ -> RE: How are you coping with rising gas prices? (12/11/2008 5:45:49 PM)

Love the poll questions:) I still drive the same as before and fill up when I'm low on gas. IMO, people who look at cash "windfalls" as extra income to spend on stuff they don't need, are typically the ones with money problems.

$270- never thought we'd see it that low here again.

It was $1.62 yesterday.

I've actually talked to people who think that the oil companies finally realized that people couldn't afford and decided to lower prices.

From what I understand, a lot of it has to do with oil futures.

The lowest we've seen it is $1.45.

Garsy--do you think it might actually go under a dollar? That would be something.
