I have discovered that when people really question it they find it to be true.

It's those who don't honestly search that walk away saying it's false.

I know that many people are not Christians. People are questioning it and finding it to be nothing more than a legend. I can only hope the trend continues.

I really feel sorry for you. You smear and ridicule Christianity and those who have a relationship with God but you really do not know what it is all about, do you? From your posts, you only focus on what you perceive to be the negatives and the contradictions of Christianity and completely ignore the truth. I'll continue to pray that God will open your heart to the truth.

Oh, and as far as the trend you mentioned, well, that trend is reversing. Maybe not as much in the United States as it is in other parts of the world, but it is reversing. Christianity is showing rapid growth in places like China and India and the Middle East in spite of the persecutions that occur there.

Actually Islam is the fastest growing religion followed by non-religious. Buddhism is also on the rise.

Being angry doesn't change the truth of a matter, and it is quite bizarre to get angry about something one doesn't believe is true. Moslems after all believe Allah will send me to hell, but this doesn't anger me.

As a former agnostic, I would say not everyone.

Actually, atheism has steadily decreased in numbers worldwide since the 70's; we hear from more angry atheists now because of the internet, but they don't seem to be growing in numbers; particularly as they don't have many children.

Which always makes me wonder why atheists never seem to preach to Muslims. Perhaps spend time on an Islamic board explaining the illogic of their beliefs?

And many Moslems want to murder those who do not convert, but I don't see very many athiests screaming about that, do you? Athiests seem to be more concerned with stopping the growth of Christianity than with stopping Islamic terrorists. I wonder why that is?

I would say that in general, atheists tend to be more vocal in westernised countries where freedom of speech etc allow dissent from the popular (in some cases state sanctioned) religion. As a result, most vocal atheists have a greater working knowleged and interaction with Christianity since it is the dominant religion in those countries. To say that atheists don't care about atrocities that are committed in the name of Islam is simply incorrect and many prominent atheist speakers have used those attrocities as an argument as to why religion in general is dangerous (not saying I agree by the way).

The belief that everyone who is not a christian is going to hell. The dismissing of science for religious dogma in public schools. And yes, "evangelizing". Believe it or not, not everyone believes that hell exists or that a god exists. I have no problem with christianity, as long as you keep it in your churches and your homes.

But that is not what Christianity is, we are to share the good news with anyone. And also, it is a 2 way street. Trying to prohibit religion in schools, etc. is the same thing as you pushing your agenda as well.

Can you honestly say that movies and television programs that, in very subtle ways, poke fun at Christians and Christianity, or in much more blatant ways, promote the concepts of homosexuality, adultery, the occult, etc. are not trying to force their (Hollywood, major tv networks) beliefs on us Christians? It sure seems like almost every movie or tv show has one or more of those elements in them.

-Dave

Hollywood is not trying to force anything on anyone. They just find a story that they think people will pay to see and then make it into a movie. If people start only going to Christian movies then those are what they will be making.

If that is the case then why are people like Ben Stein and Mel Gibson now being blacklisted?

But what I'm saying is that most people don't believe in it. When you tell someone that God is sending them to hell but that he still loves them all you are going to do is anger them.

God is merely honoring the individual's decision to reject Him. His Presence fills Heaven. It isn't a hedonistic paradise as many make it out to be. Our reward is being with God and leaving behind all the pain and corruptions that this life has. If you reject Him then you certainly wouldn't want to be in some place where you couldn't escape the sure knowledge caused by His constant and never ending presence.

quote:

What holes? Evolution is one of the most well founded scientific theories. But even if evolution were proven false that does not make Christianity true. As such science should be taught in school. Religion should be taught at church.

No transitional fossils or evidence of macro evolution that Darwin posited. There is circumstancial evidence but it can be interpreted otherwise as well. I wasn't making any comparison with Christianity or ID. But from what I was taught in my paleontology courses I see holes. And I see the so called evidence as being lacking. Thermodynamics is a better example of a well founded scientific law, not theory. If life were truly random then we would still be waiting for the next animate particle to be created after the first one from what I have read.

quote:

You will be guilty only if he exists. And everyone has heard "the news" by now. Except in some parts of South america or Africa, if you really want to "spread the message" then why don't you all go down there?

Since I believe then that does apply to me. To believe in random chance takes even more faith. The Western societies are becoming more pagan as time goes on. It is the newest growing mission field. Some missionaries have started visiting our more liberal Western churches even to correct false beliefs even.

God's message doesn't pull any punches. He calls sin and evil for what it is. He calls us to live better with each other and Him. To be better people.

It seems to me that there are several people on these boards whose only real aim in being here is to spread discontent and confusion (in my opinion).
