Both of these sites are under construction, I tried to check them out to see their tenets of faith, or something that says what they believe(my church offers this on their site), their range of doctrine. Anyway, I would just be careful and find out sooner than later on what they believe. Yes it is true that some of these churches may be exposing people to Jesus, but is it the real Jesus they are exposing people to. The one that says I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. There are not many paths as so man y people try to say. There is 1 way, Jesus. If these churches don't preach that, or about repentance, then you don't want to be involved with them. We were warned about this in 2 Timothy 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths.(NLT)

They will acknowledge the name Jesus, yet deny the power of God and the HS. They claim what they want to from the Bible, basically only the feel good parts.........

greetings denim If, among other things mentioned, emergents believe this: "Many emerging church participants do not subscribe[citation needed] to the moral standards of Evangelicalism and Christian Fundamentalism such as abstaining from alcohol, profanity, and watching movies with explicit sexual content. Those who identify with the emerging church movement are not likely[citation needed] to be dogmatic about private, moral behaviors which do not hurt others or the environment. " I WOULD RUN.... That would definitely raise a red flag! As other posters have said, we have the Word of God..it is finished, it is enough and it is final "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever." Isaiah 40. We are to abstain, we are to be separate, we are to live holy and sober lives, we are to allow God's Spirit to perfect us, we are to be as Christ is...anything other than that is not of God. I understand the desire to step away from churches that become lukewarm and watered-down. From churches that teach mans' beliefs over God's Word. But as we step away from those Revelation churches described by Apostle John, we are NEVER to step away from the Truth of the Scripture. In it is everything the believer needs; then, now and forever as long as this earth stands. When people begin to add or detract from the Word...the devil lies at the door. IMO--I would steer clear. In these last days, there are so many false doctrines and beliefs, it is just ridiculous. I leave with words from Paul: "That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;" "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;" " Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." "If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into [your] house, neither bid him God speed:" God bless,

God bless, Hi jstbeliev- This paragraph does bother me because I have found that all of our behaviors, public or private, do effect the lives of others.

I'm new here and haven't taken time (yet) to read every word of every reply. BUT...this is an issue that the Lord has placed on my heart as of the last couple of years and I agree that the ECM is very scary to me. It's an extremely effective tool of Satan! I do not believe that mega church=emergent church, though. However, I will concede that it almost always is the case. I would look very, very carefully and narrowly at a large church before I became involved. One of the many problems I see with E-Churches is, if they allow God in at all, they put him in a little, convenient box. (Here's a secret...that's not God in your little box!) The leadership of these churches feel they are the ones responsible for attracting people to the church. But that's the Holy Spirit's job! As Christians, we're simply commanded to "take the Gospel to the world" and, if we really do that, the Holy Spirit will do just fine drawing the world to Himself! Another major problem I see (and let's call it what it is...SIN) is these churches fitting themselves into a "worldly" mold under the pretense of attracting the world to Christ. That's a huge no-no! As the body of Christ, the Church is to look different from the world. We are to be holy...set apart...be peculiar. But then, that's no fun, is it??? That doesn't feel good, does it? And we're all about "feelin' good" at any cost, aren't we? But that's the way it is...get used to it. And you can expect the "Emergent Chuch" to be here long after the Church has been raptured!

The Emergent "movement" is paving the way for a One World Religion, and The AntiChrist. Rob Bell says things that sound okay at first blush, but when you pay attention, he says the exact opposite of what Jesus said. Bad. Very, very bad stuff. Be careful people. Matthew 25:31-46 When the Son of Man comes in His glory (His majesty and splendor), and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them [the people] from one another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats; And He will cause the sheep to stand at His right hand, but the goats at His left. Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit (receive as your own) the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you brought Me together with yourselves and welcomed and entertained and lodged Me, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me with help and ministering care, I was in prison and you came to see Me. Then the just and upright will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger and welcomed and entertained You, or naked and clothed You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and came to visit You? And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me. Then He will say to those at His left hand, Begone from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels! For I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome Me and entertain Me, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me with help and ministering care. Then they also [in their turn] will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You? And He will reply to them, Solemnly I declare to you, in so far as you failed to do it for the least [in the estimation of men] of these, you failed to do it for Me. Then they will go away into eternal punishment, but those who are just and upright and in right standing with God into eternal life. Matthew 7:13-24 Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it. Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves. You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so, every healthy (sound) tree bears good fruit [worthy of admiration], but the sickly (decaying, worthless) tree bears bad (worthless) fruit. A good (healthy) tree cannot bear bad (worthless) fruit, nor can a bad (diseased) tree bear excellent fruit [worthy of admiration]. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. Therefore, you will fully know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands]. So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.

Doesn't put emergents in good company.

There was a question at the bottom of an email I get from these guys, and for some reason (I never pay attention to them) it jumped out at me, and I wanted to throw my two cents in. "Christians" are really jumping down the slippery slope, but I never hear anyone SAY that. It has become an enormous issue with me. I didn't know Jesus said those things until a short time ago, and I am afraid a LOT of people don't know about it... at least, it seems a lot of people don't know about it. I decided a little while ago that I'm not trusting anybody anymore. It seems everyone (pastor wise) is losing their everloving minds. I'm sticking to what Jesus said, and whoever is in agreement with Him, I'll pay a little attention to. It's very scary out there these days...

If more Christians studied the solid teachings of the past teachers a lot of this emergent stuff would be way out there. People are flocking to it because they haven't been discipled.
