Yes, one does not cuddle with a cat. They won't stand for it. They cuddle with you at their discretion.

(Of course some just say my cat is really spoiled. )

What a very funny thread!

I think I my have one of the goofiest quirks ... oooooh ... this is scary ... here it goes ...

I place a piece of thick wall mounting tape (about 3 inches long by 1/2 inch wide) on my forehead before I go to sleep at night to prevent a deep wrinkle from developing when I wake up! It is a pretty piece of tape ... and it works! How do you think a new husband would handle that one!

OK ... I've been gone forever, and now make confessions of extreme weirdness!!

I hereby concede my Quirkiness crown to Psalms.

Thank goodness, too, because it was getting heavy and causing a deep wrinkle in my forehead.

Me too, but I am so bad that even if I let my kids fold it(and I taught them how) I still unfold and refold them. I have way too many laundry obsessions I won't go into them all here..Ya'll will think I am really weird. At least weirder than you already do.

I do this with websites. If I see a website that has spelling errors and such in it, I will send an email to the company and give them the "corrected" version one of their paragraphs. I will then also offer my office support services to them.

Good Idea SharMar!!!

ok, Ladies (and gentlemen, if you're lurking). And especially Nadine, who hears those rotten voices and old tapes playing in her head.

Get Thee Over to FlyLady.net. NOW. And don't give me any ifs, ands or buts...

Subscribe to the mailing list. Read her stuff. This woman is amazing. If you still want a clean, organized house, but want to quit yelling at your babies, refolding their laundry (which makes them feel useless among other things) and hearing those tapes in your head, her site is the answer. Trust me, I know.

Spelling mistakes. I really, really, really hate it when people spell "infinite" (or any of its derivatives) "infinate".

The ROOT WORD people is 'finite'!

Sorry. It's a quirk.

besiderself

I am very familiar with flylady.....Her site has helped sooo many people. The homeschoolers used to talk about her all the time.
But she is not for me. I know how to clean a house better than anyone I know (at least I tell my self that) because I want it done my way. The only problem I have now, is I have no motivation to do it anymore. I look around my house and I see that I am behind on everything....what others see is a clean house. She does have some very good ideas about organizing paper that may work for some, but not for me because of my quirks.
Also.....I would never let my kids see me refolding the towels. But when I go to grab a towel I end up pulling them out and folding them again, so everything will fit just so, in the linen closet.

I agree I think she holds the crown for quirkiness at the moment.

Also, I think we could do a whole thread on the quirkiness of cats. No offense Lioness.

I suppose I'll have to accept ... on the bright side, I will never need botox!!! (Though, to be honest, I cannot imagine having anything like that done ... too scary ... but so is that deep furrow!!! ) ...

this is silly ... on the women's retreat I went to a few months ago, I hid the piece of tape and put it on in the dark when no one was looking. I should probably seek help for this one.

Another goofy thing that I have gotten into the habit of doing ... getting dressed in the kitchen! I teach so many spinning classes, I just take the wet clothes and place them directly in my washing machine. (I am an expert sweater, meaning I am down right gross after a workout, and tech 15 classes a week!!!)

Well, I am off to the kitchen to change for my next class!

I'm still trying to picture the tape on the forehead thing . . . and I'm still also trying to figure out why that would work.

Actually ... I think it's ingenious. I make sure it covers the skin between my eyebrows, and it's thick enough not to bend, keeping the forehead from squishing when I sleep on my side. I like to smoosh my face in the pillow as I sleep ... I suppose sleeping on my back would work to, but I am more comfy on my side .

I Joy!!! I tried to respond, but your mailbox is full. You must be very popular!

I am now off to class! ( figured out that we burn between 220 and 270 m & m's in my cycling class ... maybe I should get some m & m's to prepare. )

This reminded me of something quirky my grandmother used to do. She would never put a wet papertowel in the trash she would hang it on the edge of the trashcan to dry before throwing it away. So if there was a major spill she could have had the whole edge of the trashcan lined with drying papertowels 2 or 3 thick.

Quirk: I won't throw away a sandwich bag unless it's empty. For example if I take 6 cookies with me to work in a ziplock and eat 4 of them I will take the bag home and put 4 more cookies in it for the next day with the other 2 . I'll do that with the same bag over and over again until I eat all 6 cookies in one day in which case I will throw the bag out.

That reminds me of that whole amish bread stuff....where the stuff stays in the ziplocs joined by new ingredients until all is fermented...

I can't cope with her... I especially cant' cope with her emails, which generally started to appear as I was going to bed, so on waking I would have a pile to go through at once

My cat is quirky... when I am getting into bed, she will come upstairs and wait until I am in bed before coming to give me a goodnight kiss If I'm feeling sad, she'll stay and curl up beside me.

I can't stand writing with black ink. It seems to change colors after a while. Plus, you can see the blue better and know it's an original.

I also can't stand it when people take it upon themselves to change/shorten/butcher your name without being told it's okay. I think it's incredibly rude.

quote:

How about when people say acrost? That isn't even a word!!

Or, and this makes my skin crawl: supposebly. Where do they get the "b"???

This drives me nuts too. I have a friend that says "acrost". I have another friend that says, "Optober". When was the "p" exchanged for a "c"?

Well, yes. But I have to protect myself from them brushing up against me and tickling me in my sleep, too. I'm tellin' ya, this is a very serious issue that requires well-thought-out precautions.

I used to be a produce manager and my number 2 was in the habit of telling me that I needed to order some oranges as none had come in that day and we were short. Didn't matter if she meant oranges, satsumas or tangerines. If it was orange in colour, it was an orange!

She'd also call Bramley apples Bramling apples which confused the heck out of my boss (it was entertaining to watch her discuss things with people who didn't speak her language!).

She left and was replaced by someone who called pistachio 'chewy nuts' and round lettuce was 'flat lettuce'.

I'm the opposite. I only use black ink.
Unless I'm journaling and then I like to use colors.

Just thought of a couple more:

I sleep in my socks all the time. In fact, I almost always have my socks on. I don't like walking with bare feet - they are much too tender.

Also, I seem to be fixated on even numbers. I eat fries two at a time, maybe four at a time if they're shoestring fries, but always an even number.

I like even numbers better than odd ones.

Which is sort of surprising considering how odd I am.

I'm a 'saver'. I'll buy a set of cool, colored gel pens and then I'll 'save' them for something special. Some special writing that I evidently think I'll do at some point. I make myself nuts with this. WHY don't I just USE the pens?????

Here's one the quirky organizers might appreciate. I'm organizing my sheet music tonight (yea! grad school's over!). I'm ordering the music alphabetically. However I'm categorizing the music based upon reason for usage.

I do something similar with my books--arranged by genre yet alphabetical within the category.

My music, however, must be arranged collectively and alphabetically (albeit with separate sections for vinyl, CD's, tapes). For the artists that I have multiple albums, I order the records by release date, oldest to most recent.

I just realized that I sign legal documents in blue ink for that very same purpose.

When I said "legal documents" earlier, I was thinking more along the lines of things that I am required to complete and sign in black . . . sales tax reports are one of them. There's a few more, but at the moment (as apparently also earlier), I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.

Quirk: I abhor dish drainers; I think they're nasty, ugly and cumbersome to store when not in use (and don't even think about suggesting I leave one out.). So I use towels. No nasty, no ugly and no cumbersome storage issues.
