ORIGINAL: CoeurdeLeon quote:
ORIGINAL: followtheleader This is not just a stuggle for me it is a serious issue. I used to be a stuggling perfectionist, since Hubby died I am a failing perfectionist. I cannot do something half way....I would rather not do it. I hear my Moms voice in my head saying "anything worth doing, is worth doing well." I would rather spend the time and have one room so clean that you could literally eat off of any surface. Then go through and just straighten the whole house. I beat myself up constantly over not being able to do everything the way I want to. Because I think it should be that way I also assume I should be able to make it that way, and right now I am failing miserably at it. {{{{{Nadine}}}}} I so empathize with you. I struggle with 'if I can't do it perfectly, I can't do it', too. It's important to remember what's important. And that would be YOU and the kids. The rest will all wait for you. Please don't beat yourself up anymore. You don't deserve it and your kids will learn to beat up on themselves, too. I know you don't want them to struggle with what you struggle with. I know because my kids are what forced me to be gentler with myself. They need a mom who is different than what I was and who cuts herself some slack. Do whatever it takes to erase that tape in your head because it isn't true. The only thing that's really "worth doing", the only thing that's going to last, is raising your children. And that, paradoxically, requires that you take very good care of yourself and make fewer demands of perfection on yourself. Thank you for this!!! I really needed to hear it. I had to actually ask for help on Saturday and it was the hardest thing I have ever done because I really do think I should be able to handle it all. I am not saying it like its a good thing either. My BF says its a pride issue. (she doesn't hold back much) Maybe it is.

I fix store displays if they are crooked, or otherwise messed up.

Ditto to all of the grammar stuff. I'm very picky about it myself, but I try to be patient with others here in the forums, understanding that this is supposed to be a relatively lax medium. But when I see grammar and spelling errors in publications, menus, books, signs, etc., I go totally ballistic! I've even seen them on billboards along the highway! I just can't believe there are intelligent people who allow this to happen. All right, I guess I've had my rant for the day.

ORIGINAL: WhiteRoseBlessings ....and she said that I fold laundry as if they're going to be on display in stores. Me too, but I am so bad that even if I let my kids fold it(and I taught them how) I still unfold and refold them. I have way too many laundry obsessions I won't go into them all here..Ya'll will think I am really weird. At least weirder than you already do. quote:
I do this with websites. If I see a website that has spelling errors and such in it, I will send an email to the company and give them the "corrected" version one of their paragraphs. I will then also offer my office support services to them. Good Idea SharMar!!! ok, Ladies (and gentlemen, if you're lurking). And especially Nadine, who hears those rotten voices and old tapes playing in her head. Get Thee Over to FlyLady.net. NOW. And don't give me any ifs, ands or buts... Subscribe to the mailing list. Read her stuff. This woman is amazing. If you still want a clean, organized house, but want to quit yelling at your babies, refolding their laundry (which makes them feel useless among other things) and hearing those tapes in your head, her site is the answer. Trust me, I know. Spelling mistakes. I really, really, really hate it when people spell "infinite" (or any of its derivatives) "infinate". The ROOT WORD people is 'finite'! Sorry. It's a quirk. besiderself

When I make the bed, I usually do it in haste so I don't have to tuck in the top sheet. When I sleep, I much prefer my feet to not be covered. My oldest brother was the same way when he was younger, not sure about now. If I'm driving w/ my sunroof open, I have to close it when the phone rings because otherwise I can't hear the person.

I used to do that too when I had a sunroof, or when I drive my mum's car. Her's is HUGE. Takes up half the car. It's great! When I sleep I HAVE to have something curled up with me. Whether a pillow, wadded up blanket, stuff animal...something.
