I've attended almost one whole day of GMT and will be going back for part of tomorrow. The schedule changed - which isn't really unusual - and so I didn't get to hear HisSong. I don't get to see them very often so that was not so great. The highlights for me were hearing Joe Kitson (Jacob's brother) with the Dixie Melody Boys (who had swapped places in the schedule with HisSong) and Brian Alvey, Tribute's new tenor. I was very impressed with both of them. I got some video footage but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I also got to to talk with Gary Casto for a little while. He's such a nice young man and he was so supportive of Jacob and his move to Greater Vision. I was extremely disappointed with the sound during The Old Paths' set. They sang very well, but the mics and sound system were really bad. I don't know what happened since the groups before the intermission sounded OK. I left after Old Paths sang so I don't know if they got it fixed or not. I'm going back tomorrow to see Chuck Wagon Gang, Dave McVay, The Dalton Gang, Palmetto State, and, oh yeah - Christian Davis will be filling in for Driven who can't make it after all!!!

I did get to see 3 artists at World Premier today before leaving for work. The Browns continue to be impressive. Mom and 4 vary talented kids. Then a local couple from Knoxville, Michael and his wife and for the life of me I can't remember her name. Had seen them a couple of years ago. Michael has a great testimony. He should not be walking or talking much less singing but what a voice that comes out of the small frame of a body. Enjoyed them also. And Little Jan and Dr. Jerry Goff. Such a blessing is this great couple. Had to leave before their last song so did not get to talk to Little Jan. Talked to Jerry before the program started. I did hear him announce this would be their last time at World Premier. He has been there all 12 years. The greatest MC ever in my opinion. As I was sneaking out the back I saw Heirline getting ready to be on stage next. Some of my favorite people, especially Ernie. Chatted with them a minute and told them I had to go to work. Ernie said "Oh no, we are doing a video and wanted Santed to be in it". Made me feel good and sad at same time. Wish I could have stayed. Did get a chance to talk with Greg Cook. Always enjoyed his singing. As I was leaving, he was in the massage chair getting his foot massage. He was really taking that in. A lady named Mary Campbell who is a prayer partner for my email list does the foot massages free of charge at World Premier and NQC for the artists. That is her ministry. Well, really hated to leave but work was calling. Enjoyed the 1 hour and 40 minutes I was ther. Snuck me a front row seat. Shhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone.

Santa, the schedule had a couple called "Michael and Delilah" after the Browns. Can't imagine that you wouldn't remember a name like Delilah!!

I know. I had it until I started making my post. Had a Geezers moment. I like that lady on radio named Delilah especially at Christmas time. Thanks Diana.

Some Good News and Some Bad News. First the bad news. Jerry Goff announced that after 12 years of emceeing the World Premier he wouldn't be back next year. He is planning a lighter schedule and wants to do some off shore traveling. He said he wanted to go to St. Thomas and some other places while they were still able. Mr. Seaton has hired a Manager for the World Premier who will be working toward building the World Premier back up to what it was in the past years. The past couple of years it attendance has fallen off bad. Faith will still be getting the groups to appear. Next years dates are August 24, 25 and 26, 2009. It's a good time to make your plans to go to Pigeon Forge and attend 8 - 9 hours a day of good Southern Gospel Music. There was only one no show this year which was great. In years past there has been several groups that didn't appear. The final perfomance of the 2008 World Premier was by Palmetto State Quartet. They was introduced to the stage of the wife of their bass Singer Larry by his lovely wife of 29 years NAOMI JUDD. She was well received by those in attendance and had a good time introducing the group. She would even stick her head out of the curtains as Larry was singing and give him applause. It was a great evening. Surprises often show up at World Premier. Every group that sang did an excellent job. There was some scattered problems with sound, but nothing that wasn't handled pretty well. I think this was the first year for the video/sound group to tape the sessions. They will be appearing sometime in the future of Gospel Music Television, GMT is available on the internet, cable stations, satellite and Sky Angel.

I had a great time, too. My favorite time was spent with Greg Gook backstage. He is one of my favorite people, and I haven't gotten to see him much over the years since he left the Florida Boys. He sounds fantastic with Ricky Atkinson and Loren Harris (all great singers on their own). I was blown away with Palmetto State Quartet. The were tremendous. It was especially fun for me to talk to Brian Beatty, lead/baritone, who I knew as the drummer for the Nelons about 18 years ago. Who knew the drummer could sing so well? PSQ also has a pianist who is awesome. BTW, Santa, Jan said to tell you she was sorry you couldn't stay, but she was thankful that you got to come for even a little while. She also said to say she loves you and Nancy. As for groups I wasn't familiar with, Providence Quartet from Pendleton, SC really impressed me. All in all, I had a great time. I saw Diane and Bobby and Carol and Santa; and other friends I don't often get to see. I'm really geared up for NQC. Another BTW. Bobby, please don't forget to send me that recipe. Ricky and Greg will never forgive me if I don't bring it for them. At least I'm saving you from making one. George almost attacked Ricky for sneaking some of the one you gave him.

Michael & Delilah Kitts are local favorites from Knoxville, TN. They are real spiritual and have sang together for years. They just recently released a new CD in which Michael wrote most of the songs. Did you get to hear them sing?

I did get to hear them sing and they are great. As I said in an earlier post that it is a very strong voice coming out of that small frame. They are very good. I heard them a couple of years ago at World Premier also.
