Dawnof theMorning,
I can relate to some of what you've posted so far. I am a person who doesn't forgive easily. I have trouble forgiving other people and myself for past wrongs, even though God's Word says that I need to in order to receive His forgiveness. It has taken a long time, but this week, I asked God to bring to my mind everyone I hadn't forgiven and He did. He showed me what I needed to forgive them for. I expressed my feelings about what that person had done to me, then forgave that person or group of people with God's help. I then repented of not forgiving them. Unfortunately, I'm not able to go back to most of these people and let them know that I've forgiven them, so I'll just have to be satisfied with knowing that God and I both know that I've forgiven all of them.

I've also forgiven myself for my past sins, including attempting suicide about three times a few years ago. God brought me out of that pit of despair and showed me that I can rely on Him to walk with me through the valley of sorrow. Since then, I've rededicated my life to Him and have been able to read God's Word and pray more often, though I could still improve in these areas.

I'm sharing these things to let you know that you're not along in how you feel. I'm praying for God to help you defeat the enemy's negative thoughts and hoping that you'll be able to claim the victory that is yours in Christ! I also recommend reading the Christian Affirmation series that I've been posting in my blog, starting at the post link below in my signature. My Bible studies are based on statements from Neil T. Anderson's books, "Victory Over the Darkness" and "The Bondage Breaker". These books were really helpful for me and I recommend them to anyone struggling with these types of issues.

I hope this helps. Please PM me if you want to discuss anything in private about what I'd posted.

constantly returning to my first love, but i feel as though there is a war going on for my soul

Ephesians 6:11-18 Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (13) Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (14) Therefore stand, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness (15) and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. (16) Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, (18) praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Dawn ... if you are an adopted daughter of God the Father, the battle has already been won ... your struggle may be against the flesh and the spirit God has renewed in you which do war against each other ( Ro 7:23; Ga 5:17)

2 Cor 10:3-7 (3) For though walking about in flesh, we do not war according to flesh. (4) For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, (5) pulling down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ; (6) and having readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (7) Do you look at things according to appearance? If anyone has persuaded himself that he is Christ's, let him think this again as to himself, that as he is Christ's, even so we are Christ's.

dawnofthemorning came to mind when I was at church, a woman by the name Aida who at the time was 92 years old, in order for her to remember my name, i used to say to her, just remember Dawn of the morning and she did.......so that is where the name came from

You know what came to mind when I read this?

Ps 59:16 But I will sing of Your power; yes, I will sing of Your mercy in the morning. For You have been my strong tower, and my hiding place in the day of my trouble.

Ps 30:5 For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure in the evening, but joy comes in the morning.

Ps 143:8 Cause me to hear Your mercy in the morning, for I do trust in You; cause me to know the way I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.

... Perhaps, Dawn, God has named you as such for the very purpose that you will always remember that His mercies and graces are new every morning.

Blessings.

today is a new day, feelings are still the same, when my flowers blooms i will no longer feel ashamed, under this vest (body) lies a spirit deep within, longing for peace from sin.......God gave me this life, this body, this world, but God did not give me this sense of failure, I did and so did everyone else.

You forgot something. It is Satan giving you this sense of failure. And he's making you feel guilty over it. God did not create you to be a failure. He created you because he thinks you are one amazing woman. Don't you let that bad Satan put you down. You are MORE valuable to God. Satan hates you and he wants to destroy you. Dont let him put those thoughts of failure into your head. Instead, let God's love fill your whole body.

Like you said, Jesus is already there. Jesus has been there. Forever. And he is never going to leave you. That's a promise.

Take heart, Dawn - the Bible is full of good news and promises for you, and you can climb out of your despair one step at a time with one verse at a time. So dig into your Bible if you aren't already, because that's where you'll find the truth to do battle with the lies.

You can start with the ones others have given you, and here's few more:

You are not condemned by God - Romans 8:1

You are forgiven by God, and all you have to do is confess, turn away from anything you know isn't God's will, and rejoice in your cleansed state - 1 John 1: 8,9 (1 John, not the book of John).

God hasn't given you a spirit of fear but of a sound mind. Rom. 8:15, 2 Tim. 1:7

Resist the devil and he will flee (run away like crazy) - how cool is that?! He is a liar and a murderer and he has lied to you so he can kill your hope. Tell him to bug off in Jesus' name. James 4:7

God loves and honors you Isaiah 43:4 (read the whole chapter - it applies to Christians as well)

The person who believes, even with faith like a tiny seed, has saving faith. Jesus gave that to you and won't take it away. Hebrews 12:2 When you feel weak, tell Him, and go eat something healthy because you might physically weak.

Christians are commanded to love one another (in several places, like 1 Pet. 1:22, John 13:34 and twice more in chapter 15) therefore they are commanded to love YOU! They are in sin if they don't build you up in your faith and look out for your good even as you do the same for them.

Your Bible is a feast for you - chow down! If you get some exercise, it will be a natural mood lifter. And fellowship with Christians in a church if you aren't already. Go tell the pastor you're there and let him counsel you and encourage your heart.

God bless you, dear one. There's all kinds of good things ahead for you, and I am praying for you. (((Hugs)))
