I just picked up HOTEL RWANDA from Blockbuster. I'm planning to watch it this evening. I just sawSideways (it's okay, I guess- a bit vulgar, perhaps) and I watched The Incredibles with my son.

Have you read the books? I recommend you do, if not. The first film was actually sort of a combination of both books (and cute).

Last night I watched Orgazmo for the millionth time, because I have some friends that hadn't seen it.

Obviously not for everyone, but I was reminded of how scatchingly clever those "South Park boys" are.


You're right, in general 135 is, if anything on the slender side for an adult woman of average height.

However...I suspect Renée Zellweger is shorter then average (actually, 5' 3")...and we all know how most film stars are thin as sticks, so I think "plump" in the context applies.

In the book I didn't think Bridget ever got above 132, and was as thin as 120, at which point everybody started asking her if she was sick. She was obsessing about her weight constantly but wasn't ever actually fat. She did, however, have a drinking problem--at the end of the book where she tallies up calories, alcohol units, etc, for the year, the number of alcohol units figures out to an average of 9 alcohol units a day, which is rather excessive.

Nah, I think it's...what, one per hour gives your body time to "digest" the booze, so you don't get drunk? So, there's 24 hours in a day!! Nine schmine.

I still say 135 is hardly plump. I'm 5'4, and I used to weight 140, and it's still pretty fat-less.

Well, I though she looks noticably plump in the second movie...I would have said Rene was more then 135 lbs, her face was noticably round and her body looked "thick" and Rubenesque. And, I'm not meaning to be critical, heavens, it's been along time since I saw 135 lbs. Bear in mind that I LIKED that the movie features a "plump" heroine.

As far as the books, I haven't read them; I really don't get into many contemporary romances, excecpt some romantic suspense novels.

On tap for tonight/this weekend:

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Sideways. Yep, Blockbuster online finally came through.

Five Star Stories (another anime film) should be the next one we get. Need to turn these around quickly so that we'll be in the que to get National Treasure and Phantom of the Opera next week.

I just finished Bridget Jones 2. I like the first one a lot better. This one is okay. I like Renee with a little weight on her....she's too cute. I actually think she's a lot prettier when there were scenes when she seems to have very little make up at all. 'gotta admit though, I love the music on both movies.

Sigh. But MORE gorgeous in Pride and Prejudice. He's showing signs of aging now (as we all are).

well, like most of you I just saw Bridget Jones 2 and I am David.

I like the whole concept of BJ & BJ2.....but I could live without hearing the "f" word a gazillion times
It was pretty good overall though. The prison part was absolutely halarious!

I am David is one of the best movies I have seen in quite awhile. I highly recommend it to people who like movie that touch your heart and people who don't like bad language and that kind of stuff (because there is none in the movie). I wouldn't recommend it for anybody under 13 though because the concept might be a little difficult for kids to enjoy. It's definately a movie that you could talk about for awhile. I simply loved it! It was one of those movies where I was crying and smiling at the end. It was beautifully made. Don't go read critics reviews on it if you are thinking of seeing it b/c they completely trash it because it is not a "made for hollywood" movie.

Just saw Meet the Fockers (twice in two days...go me).

Was once again saddened that sequels are so often terrible compared to the originals. [Though MtF did have its moments]

Tonight, I watched "A Raisin in the Sun", the classic movie with Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee. It was fantastic -- I can see why it is considered a classic!

I did see the play version of "A Raisin in the Sun" a few years ago, and it was great. Usually, if I see the play first, I am disappointed in the film (I was very disappointed in the movie "Fiddler on the Roof"), but not so this time.

I just saw Meet the Parents again. And I laughed again! Just bought the DVD and will be buying Meet the Fockers once it is released here next week. I saw MtF when it was at the movies and was pleasantly surprised that I thought it was as funny as the first one. I think Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand added to the hilarity. They are both excellent actors and with Robert de Niro's 'seriousness'...well it just really worked for me. [:D]

My sister and I went to see Kung Fu Hustle tonight. It's a fun movie, kind of a send up to old martial arts films that doesn't take itself too seriously. I couldn't believe it though, I bought the tickets without any question of my age, but then we both got carded by the ticket taker, which is getting kind of old because it never happened till last year and now it keeps happening. My mom says that we should be glad that they think we're young, but people thinking you're under 17 when you're 24 isn't a good thing in my estimation. Anyway, the movie was good.

Oh, I probably should say that it's in Cantonese and Mandarin with English subtitles. I think it's great that undubbed foreign movies are making it into a lot wider release than they used to be even just a few years ago.

Did you get to see the bloopers? I thought it was really hilarious. De Niro had the most laughs...maybe because of his character being so uptight that he was pretty much holding it in through the entire movie.

I just saw...
You Can Count on Me with Mark Rufflo and Laura Linney. Excellent movie about the bond between a brother and sister, even if they have nothing in common anymore. This is an actor's movie, the acting was so realistic and emotionaly-driven. Great performance by Matthew Broderick as a slimeball, although similar to his role in election. Rufflo and Linney's onscreen connection as siblings was powerful. I was crying like a baby during the last half hour. Five out of five stars.

I saw Saw. Definately weird...I was entertained and thought it was pretty good for that kind of movie. It was sickening[:'(] at times and completely gross seeing some of the gore. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like that kind of stuff.

OK, as far as Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind...

Fairly good as an anime film suitable for older kids and teens (some frightening action sequences that would prevent it from being suitable for younger children). There is some reference to "evolution" but it is really in-species adaptation they are referring to (bugs getting bigger -- a lot bigger, and trees developing a more advanced filtering mechanism).

But this film is not, vlsually, and plot-wise, not in the same league as Castle in the Sky and Spirited Away.

I just saw Kung Fu Hustle today with my boyfriend. It was such an awesome movie. I absolutely love it. I might see it again tomorrow. One of the main guys in there Stephen Chow is really hot.

I just saw...City of God. It was an awesome movie, but not for kids. It was set in Rio de Janeiro and showed what it was like for a kid growing up in a slum called City of God. There is some violence and other things, but a good story.

Definitely not as good as the original, mostly because they kept too much of the "secret" a secret - not enough clues.

But the Julia Roberts/Bruce Willis scene is hilarious!

I saw BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON. Never saw the first one. Ilke Renee Zwigweller, so it wasn't hard to like this one. I've heard that if you seen one you seen them all. Did'nt really intend on seeing this. Watched the misses. She liked it better than I did. I give it ***1/2 out of *****.

I recenly saw Sahara and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Both pretty good movies.

I saw it when it came out in Theatres and I was definetly Disapointed in it because the first one was great but the second one wasn't as good. But Matt Damon was Hilarrious and the Julia Robertd/ Bruice Willis Scene was funny to.
