Chelsea - I thought about that the day after ... "Isn't June 12 Mary's birthday??" AH! Ladies, I'm doing so much better! After my SECOND blood clot developed two nights ago we spent another 5 hours in the ER yesterday after the 3 am feed ... which meant with 2 hours of sleep for both my mom and I . The second doc was much more helpful, though, so I'm feeling better about my super-clotting! Basically, he told me what to look for in it being 'superficial' so if more come up, I'm not to go in to the ER, I'm just to treat it like the others. I've got to make an appointment with my family doc for follow-up next week. So, yesterday after some good napping and a decent night's sleep (I think I got 5 hours in total), I'm feeling on top of the world!!! Now we just have to have ONE MORE good night straight and I'll be much better! Gwen's SUCH a good baby!!! She has a few hours of fussiness in the evening (around 9 - 12) and then after that feed, she's fussy for about an hour, but other than that, she's sleeping great, having good awake time, and feeding SUPER WELL!!! After all that trouble, my little girl's quite the piggy!!! She's getting weighed this afternoon and I can't WAIT to see how much she weighs ... she's getting a little double chin already And ... I'm back in my pre-pg pants!! My mat pants are a touch too big, and my pre-pg pants are a touch too small, but I opted for small + bella band. Now I'm wondering just how much of my pg weight gain was water. I wish I'd taken pics of my ankles/feet before and after - it's incredible how swollen I was. Anyways, I'm off to do some catch-up forum reading and maybe a few quick things around the house. This is the first time I've been alone with Gwen ( ) so I'm feeing a bit nervous, but darnit, I know how to feed her and change her diaper - I'm sure I'll be fine!

I remember the first day I was alone with Nadia. I was terrified. I mean, what if she wouldn't do this, or that? How would I handle it? But God is good, He gave me wisdom as I needed it. And babies are very forgiving too. I've never had a diaper fall off yet!

Yikes about the clots...I'm not sure I understand the difference between superficial and deep ones. I mean...how do you know? And where are you getting these clots? One is in my "knee pit" and the other is in my groin. Apparently, if you get one in the knee pit, there's a good chance you'll develop one in the groin area as well. Superficial clots (apparently) you can SEE and feel. If it's a DVT (deep vein thrombosis), there's massive swelling, massive redness and a lot of pain, but no apparent reason for it. quote:
Have they tested your clotting factor and stuff like that to see if you need some medicine, at least short term? They can't really "treat" superficial clots, except with aspirin, which I can't take b/c I'm nursing. They won't use heparin/fragmin/coumadin b/c those are very aggressive treatments for DVTs and shouldn't be used as preventative therapy. So yeah. Apparently with the varicose veins I have + the massive diuresis after birth = high risk for clots. The ER doc said the hypercoagulable state lasts 3 -6 months post partum ... so yeah. quote:
You'll do fine on your own with Gwen. I hope you have a peaceful, restful day together. Thanks =) We did just fine!!! And we did good last night, too - just Brad and I with my mom sleeping in the other room in case we needed her

Oh how sweet. I love the ones where she is just hollaring for all she's worth! Newborn cries are so endearing.
