Hey Kimberly - just wanted to share with you a saying that my counselor gave to me a couple of weeks ago - it's a quick prayer she says when things get "hairy".

Lord, give me grace for the moment and strength for the day.

We're all praying.

i LOVE it, lisa!! perfect! thank you...

Lord, I come to you in prayer on behalf of my friend Kimberly. She's hurting Lord, and only you know how much. Please grant her the peace and serenity that she needs now. Bless her life so she'll be able to do Your will. I ask these things in Your name.

Amen.

well...i updated my resume this evening. my friend (president of a local bank....pray he has some great contacts for me! lol) called and got more details about what i'm looking for job-wise, etc. i really pray God is going to use him in finding me a job....or two. things are so depressed here. i was looking at today's paper...90% of the ads are for jobs over 40 miles away. and most of what's available here in town is for mechanics, factory jobs, nursing, etc. this is a BAD place to need to find work!

but Lord...i'm trusting You will provide. i continue to ask for assurance that medical transcription is where You want me to go...and i continue to trust you will pave the way. thank You for the friends who want to help in my endeavor, for the financial help You will provide to get me thru these lean times, and for the eagerness to begin learning You've instilled in me. i know i only have to trust You...and You will provide all my needs...and more! thank You for being my caretaker. i pray for strength and grace as i begin my job search full-force tomorrow. open someone's heart, Lord, to helping me in my time of need. You know i'll be a good worker for them! i pray these things in Jesus' name...amen.

let's just lie here and pretend we're floating on clouds. (i'm really gonna sit and have another cup of coffee...and read a little more about one of the MT - medical transcription - programs i'm considering...cuz i just vacuumed the kitchen but don't want to do my bedroom yet. giggle)

praying for your job situation and knee!

kimberly: i was hesitant to post this at first and you may have considered this already but i wanted to share it anyways as another piece to your puzzle.

http://www.workfromhomeguide.net/transcription.html includes links various newspaper and various agencies like FTC or BBB about how this can be a scam. that page and maybe the top 4 links are good to read. i am not trying to discourage you from trying to find something you can do from home, as i'm a strong believer in small businesses! i pray that if something is amiss, that God will reveal it to you.

thanks, ed. i appreciate your concern and the link. (i welcome all my CW friends' advice and opinions. i'm a discerning, intelligent woman. i can handle it. giggle)

i have done quite a bit of research on medical transcription...including the US dept of labor's view on it. it's a great growth industry...as one can easily understand, considering the aging of america. there will never be a shortage of needing accurate medical records. lol and many doctors are beginning to dictact their notes/charts/etc onto websites...so a MT can simply download the files...transcribe...and email the file back. dont even have to involve the USPS! (which is ALWAYS a good thing, if you ask me!! lol)

i should have mentioned...i will be getting certified as a MT thru a college. there are 2 levels of certification:

1) registered (RMT - recent grads or <2 yrs experience), and

2) certified (CMT - 2+ yrs experience)

i also have local friends that do either MT or medical coding...from home, either for a local hospital, or online for chicago-area doctors. i would never go for one of those online scams. as i said...the medical industry (hospitals, doctor's offices, rehab centers, etc) is full of REAL opportunities via legal, secure, reputable sources.

yep! that is real important. knowing some people who are involved in the business in one aspect or another! awesome :) personally having had much of my job being made obsolete by outsourcing to foreign countries like India, i wonder if that trend is starting in this industry? or perhaps there are laws protecting our medical records not making that possible. but it sounds like you are well researched and that's awesome!

i've researched this some, too. there appears to be some outsourcing, but US laws still require a US company/individual familiar with US law pertaining to accuracy, privacy, etc review all outsourced records before sending on the hospital/physician/etc. so...it's very unlikely outsourcing will be a threat to MT in the forseeable future. way too much US legal roadblocks! that's another reason certification is becoming so popular. previously, many of the MTs were simply considered part of the office/administrative staff and learned on-the-job.

guess what i found today? (it wasn't even on my list! LOL) my pilates CD.

so today...i did 40 mins of pilates (there's four 10-min sets). of course, i had to modify some to accommodate my knee...but even though it kinda hurt...it kinda felt good to stretch and bend it, too. made sure not to over due it, but i think it will be a great way to get some strength and flexibility back.

the other think i thought of is finding some water therapies...and headin over to my gf's pool (well...it's not quite warm enough yet...but soon. lol then i can REALLY build up some strengh...without putting any real stress on my knees.

and now i'm going to fix something to eat and relax a bit. see ya......

God really knows what we need...and when we need it, doesn't He? Just thought I'd share a few thoughts from my devotion this morning.

I Don't Have Time!

* I had poured years into making my plan successful only to discover that God resources and empowers His plan alone.

* He wanted me to understand that He was calling me to work from His love and acceptance -- not to it!

* If we don't set priorities - others will. Time thieves will steal the hours and days as we allow them to impose their plans and demands on us.

* ...one priority remains steadfast. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God " (Matthew 6:33 NIV). Once that priority is firmly established, the rest of life will simply fall into place.

* I am convinced that much of our frustration comes from doing things we were never intended to do. We create the plan as we go instead of resting in the plan He has for us.

* ...have made a new commitment to invest my time instead of just spending it.

Lord, as I transition from a job that allowed me what sometimes seemed limitless time with You, I'm gonna have to be very diligent in my time management now. I'm really gonna miss those hours of listening to praise CDs, or just praying as I drove. Thank You for those times...for preparing me for this time....for firming-up my foundation. Lord, I just pray this morning, that You will help be be disciplined in my daily devotions and Bible-reading. Make it the thing I want to get up early for...the one thing my heart needs to start my day (well...that, and a cup of coffee!)."

"Thank You for speaking to my heart this morning...reminding me that I'm moving back to a kind of life where I'll have demands on my time from outside influences...and it is MY responsibility to make time for us. Thank You for reminding me this is all in Your plan...all I have to do is "work it." I don't have to stress over finding the right job...You will bring it to me. And I don't have to worry about finances...You will provide. Show me the path You want me to take today, Lord...cuz you know I'm a day-at-a-time kinda gal! I thank You in advance for the journey we are beginning...and for the many blessings You will be bringing into my life. You are a loving, caring, faithful Father. I pray these things in Jesus' name...Amen."
