Ok a post on another thread brought back some great memories. All night singings man have I been to some good ones over the years. One of my favs was in Charlotte on the Saturday night before Easter. For years they had service at sunrise and we would drive home, take a shower, change clothes and head to church!

Any other all night singing memories?

I was at one this last new years eve. Driven Qt was at a local Church.

I recall many of them in my youth. the groups today I dont know if they have the vocal stamina to go all night. many many hours of non stop singing.

The closest I've gotten was staying up until 1:30 AM to hear the Perrys and the Mark Trammell Trio close out one night of NQC with a stirring rendition of "I Wish I Coulda Been There." That was fun!

I wish that I could stay awake that long now. I have stayed up (several years ago) until 3:00 am listening to Randy Flack sing.

My only "all night" music memory is camping out all night for Elton John tickets in 1975.

Yes, especially when Eric Phillips hit an impossibly high harmony part above Libbi to end the song. That was both a and a moment, to be sure!

Oh, MAN, do I ever remember those!!!
They were literally all night.
I was 12, maybe 13 yrs old....ca 1963

I remember the LeFevres, the Speer Family, The Florida Boys, JD and The Stamps, Hovie Lister and The Statesmen, The Blackwood Brothers, The Happy Goodman Family........and the list could go on and on.

the days of real concerts. the three day events rolled into one night. and was it ever packed. people walked in and same amount left next morning. people today are to crimped and want to have all the sleep. God and worship can wait. hmmmm.

I say lets have them again. one saturday night starting 6 pm and end sunday morning 6 am like the old days.

JimC did you live in Kennesaw then? My parents always talked about the Wally Fowler shows at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium. They were from Ball Ground and Marblehill - it was a BIG deal to go to an all night singing all the way in ATLANTA. But for the country folk like my family those singings were real events. I was jealous that those days were past and gone when I came along. One of my earliest memories is a singing at my childhood church in Marietta (Eastwood Baptist). I'm not sure all of the group lineup that night but the Florida Boys were there in orange sherbet colored suits! (I'm dating myself right?! It was around '74 or '75 I think.)

No, this was in Jackson, Mississippi.
We had the all night sings at the city auditorium.
The promoter, as I recall, was the late Roy Brookshire.

Wally Fowler used to promote All Night Sings in the Birmingham area many years back. They have not had them in some time now.

I lived in Kennesaw back then, the all night singings at the Atlanta Municipal (City) Auditorium was a highlight of early childhood. You were literally there until the early (4:00 am) hours of the morning. There were a lot of groups based around Atlanta during that time period and they would always be there. A lot of those group members still live in the Atlanta Area. The Klaudt Indian Family (Melvin 'Chief'), Eva Mae LeFerve, Norma Crews (Bob's widow) and several others are here and still attending concerts in the area.
After the all night singings came a place in East Point, GA called the Joyful Noise, where those artist continued to perform almost every night of the week (except Sunday). It was a great place for food and Southern Gospel Music. This was during the early years of our marriage. Enjoyed both places and WISH THEY WERE STILL HERE.

Not sure where my brian was when I typed this. elementary 61-64, didn't graduate until early 70s so the concerts would have stated somewhere in the 1970-1975 years

Growing up I use to attend the ones on New Year's Eve and night before Easter at the local civic center...we would leave usually around 1 or 2 am and it was still going strong.

Yes, that was great! A little rough getting up the next morning, but well worth it. I've been to all-night sings in Waycross and Bonifay. As said by previous poster(s), they're not what they used to be...but I still love the singers and the singing, even if I do get to bed before sunrise!
