I have used netflicks. But i would get kinda frustrated because the movies I rented were the movies I was in the mood for at that time and by the time I received them I would be like Blah.

Netflix!

Since I homeschool I have found so many fabulous documentaries on so many various subjects to supplement our curriculum. Some may seem boring but others are very interesting. We also sometimes take a break and watch some of the classic literature made into movies or mini-series and compare the book to the movie. Great compare and contrast lesson for middle school language arts.

It's great that we also enjoy watching online with DSL. Not everything is available online but a good many are. We have the unlimited 3 at a time and it gives us all an opportunity to get something we like. Some we've ended up keeping for over a week, others have quick turn around.

We really love Netflix. No problem. Now, if only the mailman would actually show up today as there are 3 to send back. Mailman doesn't always come.

What is Redbox?

I think the term refers to the DVD rental vending machines that are in some supermarkets (in this area, it's Kroger).

Redbox is at McDonald's in my city and in a lot of others. Interesting that it's at Kroger some places, because it's not here. I love the fact that it's only $1 a day, but the main disadvantage is that the selection is limited. The website is www.redbox.com.

The Things and I recently subscribed to NetFlix. I've never used them so I'm interested to see how they do. I checked my account and it said the first three movies should be here today and we just signed up on Monday. That would be really cool. I also have a few movies in my que to watch on my computer for times in between. Most of those are movies I want to see and the Things don't care too much about.

I like that I can also rent TV series as well as movies. Let's me watch shows I wouldn't normally be able to. [:)]

I use netflix. I have no complaints. The nearest center is only out in the suburbs, so it is quick turnaround, and they have almost everything that is on DVD. I tend to get mostly independent and foreign films, and the only one I have ever had a wait for was this little German film loosely based on Snow White staring Nina Hagen as the witch/cosmetics saleslady. They had to send it from another sate.

We love Netflix. It's great and they always ship so fast. No waiting in line, no going to one place then finding they don't have what you want, then driving to another. And no late fees. We've never had to wait for what we've wanted, even the new releases. It's just way cool having it delivered to our front door.

They also have a big selection of movies and series you can watch instantly online, and that's been fun too.

I agree! I hate the way they handle their actual store, so I'm not going to give them my online business.

I have Netflix

We've had Netflix 2 or 3 times. We always rent a ton of foreign films, get annoyed with the long turn around (a week), and then drop it, realize we have no other source for non-mainstream film, and start it up again.

A few years ago a couple started an independent Hollywood Video in town. It had such a great selection and no back room (if you know what I mean). We patronized it for as long as it was open.

Now it's closed and we've been thinking about trying Netflix again. Maybe with downloading it will be better.

Wow...you must live a ways from a distribution center. We have a turn around of 2 business days. We often get two mailings a week from them.

jodavi -> RE: Do you Use an on-line rental service? (6/29/2008 11:31:18 PM)

I rent a lot of foreign movies to from Netflix and foreign movies seems to have a longer turn around. I'm here in the midwest and sometimes a foreign movie will come from CA and that will take longer to deliver. However, once I mail it....USPS usually delivers it to our local distribution center not to the originator.

reach -> RE: Do you Use an on-line rental service? (6/30/2008 1:10:07 AM)

I have netflix. I love it. I have been with them for years. I share the movies with my sister.

We have 2 day turn around. 1 day to get to them and 1 day to get to us.

I don't like blockbuster because when I was late with a movie, instead of just charging me on my next rental or sending me a letter, they would send me to collections for like 2-3 bucks! So I have not even tried their program.
