Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: sg artists and youtube (5/28/2008 6:03:35 PM)

I've never taken any videos at any of the concerts I have been to. In fact, at a couple of the concerts there were signs posted advising people that to do so was a violation of copyright laws and infringed on the rights of the record companies.

I have watched a bunch of videos on youtube and there are some good ones on there. There are also a bunch that are very poor quality. My favorites are the ones with what I consider to be the best Cathedral Quartet lineup: George Younce, Glen Payne, George Amon Webster, Haskell Cooley, and Roy Tremble.

Now how do they figure that? Seriously.[>:]

Pretty simple--the record label owns the rights to determine how / where the soundtrack is used.

If they sell you the soundtrack, it comes with a license to perform it live, but not to record it (even, technically, on YouTube). But most SG labels tend to tolerate it because of the publicity, I think.

H.L. -> RE: sg artists and youtube (5/29/2008 9:23:44 AM)

I have asked Brian Free about posting videos, and he said to go right ahead. Eric Bennett also knows we put up videos from their concerts, and doesn't mind.

sgpianoman -> RE: sg artists and youtube (5/29/2008 9:49:48 AM)

Glad to see the artist's are behind posting videos. I have noticed alot of artists even use fan/their own videos on their website or myspace. I know more than once i have asked someone have you heard "such and such" and showed them live performances via youtube. And i agree with an earlier poster, its great to see older videos of groups that i may never had a chance to see live (Hinsons, vintage gold city ect)

L5FanLady -> RE: sg artists and youtube (5/29/2008 1:01:56 PM)

When I posted the vids of the BBs, I chose not to opt for the embedding feature. I guess that means that the BBs couldn't use it for like what sgpianomans said, nor could anyone else, could they?[&:] At least, not until I change it....[8D]

I actually want to start a YouTube promotion ministry so that I can use my YouTube marketing experience to help grow the S.G. fan base as well as spread the Gospel in song around to the "Global" community. I currently manage the #1 internet viral video star, created the very first paid contest on YouTube, and have worked with many Fourtune 500 companies with their viral marketing campaign (Canon, Discovery Health, Virgin/Atlantic, etc.).

If anyone knows who I should contact to get something like this started -or- if you represent a group/artist who would like to explore this opportunity please email me:

numa@newnuma.com

The only group that I have approached with this offer was Signature Sound but I don't believe my proposal ever made it through the spam.

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: sg artists and youtube (5/31/2008 11:51:45 PM)

just antther way Tina of the big record companies trying to control all aspects. reason why I want to own my own label. that way if my few fans want to post a video, PLEASE do. promoting God, not greed for my pocket.

yep, I dont care for the big labels. [:D]

Jeff2006 -> RE: sg artists and youtube (6/1/2008 12:18:51 AM)

SG artists have been receptive to it. The Nelons, Crabb Revival, Kirk Talley have asked me to post several of theirs including the Nelons & Crabb Revival's latest singles. Now if you are only streaming to watch it is fine.

TAGTIME -> RE: sg artists and youtube (6/1/2008 1:19:44 AM)

I love YouTube! When I have some time, I usually spend it watching videos that I have never seen before of some of my favorite old groups like the Oakes, Cathedrals, and Gold City! My daughters find it to be educational. But when I see a new video of my group post, I have to admit that I get nervous! It totally changes your perspective, and helps keep you humble, when you watch yourself from the lens of a cell phone camera.

L5FanLady -> RE: sg artists and youtube (6/1/2008 5:03:44 AM)

And it's not like we are gaining any profit from it; if anything, we must put into it. It is a small sacrifice of our time to put it up, and is free advertisement for the group as well. [:)]

I've never posted any videos on youtube, but I very much enjoy watching them!

bigboytenor -> RE: sg artists and youtube (7/1/2008 5:20:37 PM)

Jon Charles Taggart is a great guy. As many of you know I was offered their tenor job last year, so I spent a good deal of time with him and he's an upstanding guy with the utmost of integrity. Talk to him whenever you can.
