ORIGINAL: Sideways Lisa, referring to the above comments about age of the mom and area where they live... is it common where you live to marry and have children quite young? Not really. The common view among the homeschoolers in our area when I was growing up is that you should wait to get married until the young man had at least a year's wages in the bank. Most of the homeschool graduates my age were headed to college and weren't even thinking about getting married yet. In fact, we caused quite a scandal in our homeschool group for pairing up in the first place. Some of the parents were very upset, because they didn't believe that the teen parties should be used for pairing off. They wanted their children to wait until they were much older, like in their thirties, to get married. They actually tried to do away with teen parties altogether when Erick and I got engaged. They thought we were bad examples. We were the first in our group to get married, but not the last. There are several others that are married now with kids, but they waited longer than we did.
