peace denim,

I know exactly what you're going through. I was a heavy smoker. Not really enjoying the taste, the smoke on my clothes, the second-hand smoke that was affecting my child, the stains on my teeth, not to mention how it was slowly killing me...I decided, no, I made up my mind and prayed like this:

"Lord, I have tried to quit smoking before, I did quit & started back again. I had quit because I was pregnant or just because I wanted to stop. But this time...Lord I am giving this up for YOU. Lord, for a week I am going to give up smoking. Now, I am going to need some help. I am very weak so I know that this won't be easy, but because I love YOU and because YOU gave us YOUR SON, gave me a new Life, I am giving this up for a week, starting Monday. Lord I thank YOU that YOU are with me and will help me through this. In Jesus holy name, amen"

I said this prayer on a Sunday after I smoked a cigarette. Then came Monday. I chewed on a toothpick. Not because I had any cravings but because I wanted something in my mouth because strangely, I didn't have any cravings, and I can tell you about cravings(robbing piggy banks, searching for butts in the trash). But I got through the day. Then I got through the next day. Then I didn't even put the toothpick in my mouth Wednesday. Then came Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sunday. A whole week! Then came Monday...no craving, no cigarette and it has now been 5 years. Not one relapse. I find it hard to believe that I even smoked! And had been for 20 years starting at about 14yrs old, steady about 18 yrs old.

I believe, sis that when we make it up in our minds to give something over to God, He takes us up on our offer and releases us from any addiction, any stronghold, any barrier, any yoke, child just anyTHING, praise the LORD and takes it all away. So just keep on believing, keep on hoping and keep on praying. I don't believe God wants us bound to anything and will do His part to set us free. Don't worry if you slip, don't listen to that liar's voice. Because if GOD be for you, who can be against you, amen? I stand with you and my bros/sis's here that this too will be broken and released. Just believe that it is already taken care of beyond this natural world and is done spiritually.

You are braver than you think, stronger than you can imagine, blessed and highly favored...because greater is HE that is within you for HE does it all, hallelujah and praise the Almighty God and LORD! All we have to do is......believe...simply, believe...

The Lord show Himself strong on your behalf and bless you,

Father God, in the name of Jesus I ask that you totally and completely remove any addiction and habit of smoking from denim. Father, she is asking you for help and will give you all the praise, the glory and the honor for the strength that comes from you alone. Help her to be successful that this may be a witnessing tool to bring others to you.

In the name of Jesus!
Amen

Roberta, you know I'm praying for you!

I waited for years for the Lord to take away all urges and withdrawal. But like Paul's thorn in the flesh, He decided to teach me to rely and His grace to endure the withdrawal and deal with cravings so that I'd never forget the price of the freedom He has given me.

Day 645 nicotine-Free, Day 742 tobacco-Free
