Whatever mocks the Lord. For unbelievers, mocking Him and His Word is an acceptable form of humor but for the holy people, they would never do such an evil thing.

I know you didn't ask me, but I think Don Rickles can be extremely funny; however, I saw a clip of his concert on one of the cable movie channels, and I was appalled.

hi LW9 - i toddled in here for a bit... this is just bugging me - (a topic i just put up about lying under pressure).. I discovered that I was doing it because i thought i had to tell the truth (give information out) to be honest when answered such a direct personal question of which i did not want to give out the info, or they had no right to the info, or it would lead to more and more questions, etc... so i didn't know what to do.

but thanks be to God, everyone helped reallign my thinking, and i discovered what it means to be honest but not give out info. :)

I just moved to be closer to church and to get out of my previous horrible apartment which was a pit from hell,,, but God is good!

I agree with the poster who said that crotch hits are not funny. I also find potty humour to be immature. I don't see why adults think it's funny--it's not like we're two.

The mandles thing sounds funny. I wouldn't be offended over that.

I don't like self-demeaning humor. Some comedians seem to think they can get by with stuff that would otherwise be offensive by directing it at themselves (i.e. fat jokes) but I still don't like it.

American's Funniest Home Videos has some funny stuff on it. I enjoy the wedding bloopers and the cute things that the kids do, but I do not think it's funny to show people hurting themselves and falling off their bikes.

I think AFV doesn't allow for videos where humans or animals were seriously harmed.

Especially to the recipient.


When someone stubs their toe, trips and falls, or some other non-fatal incident, my natural reaction is to laugh. It doesn't mean I'm any less concerned, it's just a natural human reaction.

I'm mad myself for ever seeing a Will Ferrel movie. I don't know if I've ever seen a Jack Black movie -- none that I can remember. If he's anyting like Will Ferrell, I'm sure I would be disgusted.

I'm so glad to find someone else who doesn't like that show. I just can't understand it. On those rare occasions when I've seen it, I just feel anguish and pain--it's not funny to me at all.

Yeah, I don't get the popularity either. What does that say about us, the public?

Oh, I'll admit that sometimes there is something that's funny. I agree with Lisa about that. But IMO it's far outweighed by everything else. I mean how many times can you look at some guy get hit in the crotch or someone (including kids) get knocked silly? That ain't my idea of entertainment.

What I'm so angry at watching is Will Ferrell's movie, Taladega Nights. What was I thinking. I needed a bath when I got through watching -- no, I didn' t make it to the end.

Another show that completely made me sick was Knocked Up. I don't have movie channels on my cable, and good thing too, since I don't want my kids to think it's okay to watch that kind of garbage. Anyway, I was at a friend's house the other day, and she has movie channels, and we were watching something, and when she went to the restroom, I started flipping the channels. The 30 seconds I watched that movie made me sick. Man, it's really disturbing that so many kids are watching this stuff. But that's another thread I guess. [8D]

I make many jokes. Fat jokes. Dumb jokes. Sin jokes.

However they are focused on me. Not others.

I was listening to a comedian awhile back who was doing some fat jokes about himself. The first one was kind of funny. (He said how he's always getting these catalogues in the mail from the big and tall clothing store, and he doesn't understand why, because he's not that tall) If he'd just stopped there it would have been alright, but he kept going on and on about his weight, and it ceased being funny in a very short time. I think people need to know when to stop when it comes to joking about potentially offensive things. He also joked about how his mom spanked him when he was a kid, and went too far with that one as well.
