The girls are getting their bday party for one of dd's webkinz ready. That was the whole reason for the sleepover, but they were having too much fun playing in the water (and mud) outside yesterday to do it! They're going to get it all ready & then we're going to go to the amusement park & they'll have the party when we get back. I figure that will be a good reason to get them to leave!

Hello, I am feeling a bit discouraged today. I think it is mostly over evaluations. On a scale from 1-5, the church filled out average and above for my DH, with a few stray numbers that were below average but nothing to worry about. The "additional comments", though, was like a bad dream. Nothing against him personally... some were actually quite stupid. But it is still hard to swallow. Kinda makes us feel under a microscope, which I know we were... but how rude some of the comments were. We would never get by with filling out an evaluation like that on someone. Anyways, sometimes I feel good like things will work out, we are still new and they really don't know us all that well. Other days I feel like shutting myself off to the world, putting up a huge brick wall and treating everyone like a snot... (I know, that sounds very christian like huh..  ) I will be mature though.

I can't imagine having that many emails in my box, Amy. I don't even like having two pages worth and when it gets to the second page, I go through and clean it out.
These kids are driving me nutso today. Levi is N.a.u.g.h.t.y. Hannah is whiny. I am tired. Not a great combo. Thank the Lord...nap time is coming soon. 
Noah has this week and next left of school. His testing is next Monday-Thursday, then closing on Friday. SIL and I are taking a preschool field trip to the zoo with the little ones next Thursday. My nephew (4), his cousin who I call my niece (4), Hannah (3), and Levi (16 mo)...should be fun.

My in box is way full, too...
Busy day. I've been sorting and putting books in the new book case. It's built in along one wall in the living room. I did Bibles, language, and history/geography. One of the three sections is almost full already. And I've gotten rid of a lot of books. Thrown out some, saving some to take to FOT. Kinda frustrating, though. Dh told me to organized it however I saw fit, seeing that most of it is hsing stuff. But I know that when he sees it, he's gonna say that's not the way he would have done it.
We're heading to the beach in a bit. Water is still around 62*. But, it's 85* and sunny. I should warm up quickly after my swim.

I have a preview pane for my emails and I have it set at about half the screen. I try to keep it so that there aren't more emails than I can see on the half screen in my in-box. Some get deleted immediately and others get moved to other folders if they are things to keep.

Homegrown, Jesus took his disciples off and told them to rest for awhile.
Maybe ya don't have to treat everyone like a snot, maybe ya just need a break from everyone!!( I know how ya feel, though!!) What if ya just got a great big glass of some orange, peach, mango juice or strawberry kiwi juice (Dole or Tropicana sells this in 1/2 gallon cartons in the dairy section) with some ice and go out and sit under an umbrella on a picnic table or take a blanket and toss it on the ground under a tree..(WARNING this is NOT a good idea in some parts of the country- ya know -fireants, ticks, chiggers, etc!!) and just relax for a day. Try not to worry about what people say.
Well, there's only 4 more days of "real school" and then it's vacation and 4 years of homeschool!

(((Annie)))) - I really feel for those of you who are pastor's wives. It is like living under a microscope. I don't know how you do it, but I'm sure glad you do! I know without the support at home being a pastor can be doubly hard! I pray that the persnickety people (as Ez so eloquently put it) will very quickly realize how lucky they are to have your dh in their pulpit & you serving beside him!
Well, the amusement park was fun! We got really wet on the rapids ride! That was nice at first because it was hot but being wet in full clothes (esp gym shoes & socks) is not all that pleasant IMO! Didn't seem to bother the girls at all, but they also had flip flops on. I am worn out now! Hope to get to bed at a normal hour & get some good sleep tonight!

Annie, You can't receive that kind of thing. You have to reject it and move past it. That is the best way to deal with people that are rude and think other people's feelings are of no consequence. The man is not walking in love. Maybe he ought to read First John. He might get scared.

We had our last small group meeting till fall tonight, and our teacher was teaching on offenses and how, if we allow ourselves to be offended, it opens a door for Satan to get in and do some dirty work. Jesus said that offenses will come, but that we can choose to let them go. Dang, I wish Steve were here - he said it so much better than I can! Anyway, it really gave a lot of us something to think about.
Jen, I'm glad you had some fun at work. We have not been having much fun lately, and it makes the days so L . . .O . . .N . . .G!
I made chocolate cake for small group and brought most of it home, so my children are very happy.
Brandon has his appointment tomorrow morning. I really don't expect to get a much more than a referral to a neurologist, but it's step 1. Nothing has changed - he has shaky hands but otherwise feels fine.

I am trying not to be offended... Let it go ya know.
lets say you have 3 meetings in 3 months and discuss the pros and cons of captions on yearbook photos at all 3 meetings and then tell the kids that in the end captions are up to them because it IS their book... then AFTER the proof is printed for the editor someone in leadership pipes up about a certain page having no captions(not the proofer).
lets say that another member of leadership writes back that said child that did said page was at all three meetings and is fully versed in the pros and cons of captions and has obviously chosen to NOT include any.
lets say said member of leadership also adds that said student has a good eye and a few years left on staff and is a staff member you wanna keep around.
You think #1 leader will get what #2 is trying to say? OR do you think #1 leader will still pressure student to put on his page what he obviously does not want on his page???
(some folks must think I am "toopid")
(some folks[#1 leader] are getting bold in these last days knowing that other folks[#2 leader] are not gonna be on staff next year)
(some folks are gonna be so up the creek cause some folks don't know a pixel from the hair on their big toe.)
(some folks better be nice to Mr. No Captions cause of all the staff members this year he is the only one not related to me that DOES know a pixel from the hair on his big toe)

Thanks guys for all the encouragement. I think we are doing pretty well at "going on with life". When things aren't kept busy, it gives me time to think about it though and I have to keep "beating my flesh" . I think things will be okay though. When my DH had that siezure the first day we got here, I really feel strongly that the church got a false impression of who he really is. It really affected his memory and social skills, facial expressions. It was like my DH was "empty" for a while. He is doing much better, and I am still seeing improvement from looking back even a month ago! Everyone knows that after a seizure comes tiredness... so I felt like I was carrying the load for him for a while. Can you believe we had comments that my DH naps a lot while I do all the work?? We'll, the past is behind us, but by reading some of their comments I sort of felt like they were "keeping a list" of our errors and some of them could not be helped, and happened months ago. How ridiculous. He was doing the best he could at the time. Now he is doing better, but it was like no one said he was doing better.
Okay.... I got off on a vent there.... sorry. 
I am really having a hard time sticking with school. SO.... I think we will switch to my "summer schedule" and that is basically Math, me reading to them, them having things to read, and my boys finishing a writing book, which they seem to be enjoying. I'm going to forget the other stuff because my head is in the clouds! (litterally ~ I enjoy being outside in the summer). I also want to work with teaching my 6yrDD to read. My hardest thing is keeping a routine in the summer. Without a routine, I tend to not get very much accomplished

maybe you could just work on the things that are important to you. Some of those weaker areas. That is basically what I am doing... except, minus the book work for some of them. For instance, I will help them along with spelling as they do their writing assignments and might take a sentence from their writing assignments and ask them to find the nouns, or the subject and verb etc. Something that takes 30 seconds, just to keep up with the review. Math is math... so I will working with that. My boys are maybe half way through their reading/work books, but I figured they will get it all again next year.
I know we were slowly getting behind with Bob Jones English/Grammar. What I finally did was rip out all their writing assignments and saved them to the end. That way they could get through all the other stuff at least. It was the writing assignments that we were so slow at. This year, I switched to Easy Grammar. I was not enjoying the 7th gr. book for my DD and she wasn't enjoying it either. It was a life saver to switch.
I know you are doing the Satelite version, so that might be hard for you to do.

I never feel like we have done enough, either.
The boys' dad called. He'll be coming through next week but unable to stay. He will be 4 hours away for several weeks, though, and plans to visit them and take them to see their sis and bros. He isn't bringing her, so it should be a nice visit.

Another thing that I have been pondering is having David skip 7th or 8th grade Science. David and Caleb are currently working together on 6th Science and I want to split them up in Science before David is in high school. I was wondering if there was a good way to tell if he would have horrible gaps (or where the gaps would be) if I were to skip him up? A free way would be better. Any ideas?
The kids had piano lessons today and did very well. I am hoping to get them to the point where they can all play together on their different instruments.
I am feeling very jittery today. I have my first appointment with the oncologist today. tomorrow Sarah has speech. Thursday is my first Mammo, and Friday is a birthday party for little girl in our church (but I am not sure that I am up for it).
We need to get the garden planted too. So much to do.
On that front, we did something this year that we got from Cindy. We gave each kid a small 10' x10' plot of land to do whatever they want with. They are SOOOO loving it. It so funny though because Timothy and Caleb put their pots together to make a bigger plot to enjoy. That team work and togetherness just makes my heart proud. 
It will be a while before I can do much. II have been laying on my incision at night and it is irritated and a bit sore from it. Makes it harder to feel comfortable during the day. I certainly don't feel like planiting and fighting off little bugs with it like this.

I did not get as much done as I wanted with Timothy and Sarah, and yet... We have done a lot of educating them without bookwork, and yet,... I don't think that Timothy at least is ready to go on to second grade reading and English. 
I wish that I could do EVERYTHING! the years are slipping by so fast. they are missing out. I am missing out, We are all missing out. While we have done a lot of cool stuff, there are so many other really cool things in those books and DVDs. A lot of cool crafts and experiments that I haven't even seen yet.
