Mandy (I think--if I'm wrong, please forgive me)--what part of Cali do you live in? Currently I live in the Central Valley area until our move to Kansas next month. Working at a summer camp sounds just like my style and something that will keep you out of trouble, LOL.

I'm not Mandy I'm Lacey! [8D]
i live in the central valley too. heck, we may be neighbors for all i know.

I live in CA too! Maybe we should do a CA roll call! LOL!

That's awesome! I hope you, and all the others at the camp are really blessed. What sort of things are you baking?

i bake everything. im going to make a 3 ft. tall cake soon. or something like it. i've been baking since i can remember and in the past several years have become really passionate about it. someday i'll bake the whole world mwahahaha.

Sorry, Lacey. I live near Fresno...how about you? If you don't mind sharing. For me, it doesn't really matter too much at this point because I'll be moving next month :)

Stacy, have you started the C25K? I completed day 2 of the first week today and felt completely awesome afterwards. It was really weird...considering I really dislike exercise.

As for the ants....ugh...I hate those things. We've been using ant bait/traps accompanied with spray; in addition, we keep things clean which seems to help quite a bit!

Roberta, what part of Cali do you live in? I'm for a Cali roll call [:D]

Beth...today is graduation, right? Hugs & prayers for you. I'm guessing the graduation ceremony is tonight. You can do this & get through saying goodbyes. (Tomorrow is the official last day/parties, right?)

Tamara, hugs about the friend who is off in Lala Land. Maybe she'll return to earth one of these days.

Fluffmonkey (sorry, I am drawing a blank on your name), I'm doing well today :) I haven't gotten much housework done, but I'm working on establishing a better schedule with my son. Hmmm, somehow last night's episode of SuperNanny got to me...in that it made me think twice that some of my son's misbehavior might be MY fault because I don't really have anything planned/scheduled. He's always had some sort of a schedule with daycare/preschool & now he's at home with me. So....now we have one...I drew up a rough one...modeled from his daycare/preschools in that we have some down time in the morning (just getting ready for the day), then schoolwork (I'm preparing him for Kindergarten as he isn't quite ready), exercise, outdoor play, meals, snacks, story time, Bible, rest time, and family time (not necessarily all in that order). I think that encompasses most of it.

Things just seem somewhat more organized with a schedule...LOL. I'm not saying we can't have sporadic fun with a tickle session here or there...just that we needed something to gage our times on because otherwise I end up spending all day on the computer or watching television all day....neither of which is productive. There's more face to face interaction which I LOVE!!!

By the way--I'm Megan. Or feel free to call me Faith as many do around CW. It's kind of became a nickname from my handle and I really don't mind at all [:D]

God bless & have a great rest of the day everyone!!!

Here it is ladies- CALIFORNIA Roll Call!!

crimsonfollower -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/5/2008 9:20:55 PM)

Thanks Megan!! The graduation went well. I managed to get through without crying too bad [:D] I actually did pretty well. My kids' graduation was before I had to sing for the high school graduation (we did three graduations in a row tonight [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] ). Then the seniors (there were only two of them) did their speeches right before I sang, so I wouldn't let myself cry through their speeches. When I started to lose it was after everything was over and I was talking with some friends. We started talking about the fact that I leave in a little over a week ([sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif][sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]) and the fact that I will miss everybody- that is when I started to choke up. Now, to get through tomorrow and the goodbyes to the kids- that is going to be hard. But, I can cry tomorrow without having to worry about doing something else (we do have a staff luncheon, but nobody will care if my face is a mess there) after I finish crying.

I got nothing done today since I only had about an hour from the time I got home from school till I left for the graduation. I have to get some things done this weekend!! No way around it!! I am hoping to get report cards done, a project that needs to be finished for school as well as the rest of the general packing. Then next week I can focus on all of the projects in the classroom and repacking the suitcases so everything fits. Plus, there are several evenings next week that I am busy saying bye to people.

Okay- I am off to bed. I need some sleep to have the energy to cry all morning tomorrow [:D]

uponeagleswings -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/5/2008 9:26:09 PM)

Daughter of faith- I think I'm going to start the couch to 5K next week. I'm stoked about the mp3's that I found to listen to while I do it. We were going to work out today, but hubby's cough came back with a vengeance. I think its because it was really windy here yesterday and the dust/dirt was blowing everywhere.

Well Orkin came and sprayed, so hopefully our ant problem should be remedying itself shortly.

fluffmonkey -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 12:02:58 AM)

Daughter of faith, I recently was watching the show myself...and schedules always seem to help get organized, as well as help save time. I know Ive been trying to get myself on schedule with things like excerise, God time, cleaning, and all the rest. Its hard to get on a schedule when you work part time and your not sure what days you will work although im trying to stick with one.

Beth, glad to hear graduation went well, I know saying goodbye will be tough and I know your going to cry but you will always keep the memories with you, and I will be praying for you.

I didnt work out today :/ (oops)

I doubt it. [8|] It's the same friend I talk about, but she always seems to get worse, not better. [&:] Long story...but frustrating.

We've used orkin for several years and been happy with the service, so the going back to them is ok. I just want these ants to be gone. [:'(]

I could always send M to eat them for you. LOL (DH made the mistake of telling him, when he'd picked up one and was showing it to him, to eat it. He ate 2 before DH could stop him. )

BTW, what's Couch to 5K? Can I find out what I need online or do I have to buy a book?

I'm not being funny, but it sounds like it thinks she means that I'm literally telling her to blow up the page (like with explosives)...

What a hoot!

We made it to church today! Whoohoo! Good sermon too. We're collecting can-shaped Coke glasses from McD (free with a large meal). I think I'll eat salad for supper tonight. LOL

Counting down. Two weeks until we're getting ready to head out to Lebanon. Whoohoo! I can't wait. Now that I'm more used to driving over here and more familiar with how to find the beaches, I'm thinking we need to go every weekend. [;)]

Have a nice day, ladies.

Nicole_Michelle -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 11:51:18 AM)

Hello ladies.

I feel very behind since I haven't posted for a while. [8D] We moved last weekend. While we were moving in the guys living here were moving out. The place was a mess (they liked to party) so I spent 2.5 days cleaning like a crazy person. Now it is clean and looks new again. This place is only a year old. The neighbourhood is right on the edge of town so it is really pretty around here! I am still more excited to move into the place we bought. I can't wait!

Kath -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 11:54:37 AM)

Hi Nicole, I was wondering where you were. :) That had to be difficult to move in at the same time the former tenants were moving out.

Roberta_ -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 11:55:28 AM)

Nicole (InBetween) - glad you got this move behind you. I hope your new place is a blessing to you!

Karaboo2 -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 12:00:49 PM)

Hey Stacy ... I think your Orkin man decided to ship your ants here ... got up this morning and both the kitchen and bathroom were crawling with them!!! (All over my nice clean countertops, cupboards and shiny dishes which had been left in the rack to dry) ... tell Mr. Orkin to come and take them back!!! [:(][:@]

Howdy Kath! [:D]

Yeah, it was a pain to move in while they were moving out. They were supposed to be out of the place and have it all cleaned by noon. I came at 6 with our landlord and the guys barely had anything done. They didn't even have things packed into boxes so they were throwing loose things into the backs of their vehicles. [&:] They were friendly so at least it was better than it could have been. They came back the next night and steam cleaned the carpets which was nice. Half of our double garage is full of their furniture. Luckily they are coming over tonight to pick it all up. They also left a ton of garbage bags on our front "lawn: (it is just dirt). The garbage men only took half of them so the guys are going to take the rest of them with them tonight. I complained to our landlord saying we aren't going to put old garbage into our car and pay to take them to the dump. My complaining worked. [8D]

Thanks Denim! So far I love this place. It is a lot bigger than our last rental so that is nice. It has high ceilings and huge windows throughout the house which is really awesome! And our master bedroom is huge! We have a king sized bed and still have a ton of room in there. Plus we have an ensuite which is sweet. The kitchen is also way bigger than our last place and has an island and pantry. It is similar to the one in the place we bought so I am very excited knowing we will have lots of room!

Kara, that is terrible about the ants[:o] I had ants like that once so I sprayed my counters and the corners of our floors with deet bug spray. It worked great!

Karaboo2 -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 1:03:02 PM)

I'm hoping what has worked in past years will work again ... we have young kids and 5 indoor pets, so we are very careful about what we use. In the past, a combo of borax and baking soda along the window and door frames has managed to suffocate them. I did that this morning, so I'm hoping to find some dead ones soon. If not, it's back to the drawing board (or at least the internet to research some more natural solutions)

And now I am sitting here waiting for Mr. UPS man to arrive with my Pampered Chef order ... it is showing as out for delivery, but has been showing that for the past 6 hours ... normally my orders arrive before 10am ... I'm watching for him this time because the kiddies are all down for naps, and I want to get the yappy dog outside before he gets here.

Brandy -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 1:05:20 PM)

Kara, I clean all anty surfaces with Vinegar, it helps to deter them while your other treatments work. It made a HUGE difference when we had some in the kitchen. I had been using just Clorox wipes but tried straight White Distilled Vinegar and they hated it.

Karaboo2 -> RE: June Bugs ... Women's Chat Thread (6/6/2008 1:09:24 PM)

I did do the vinegar spray as well ... but they seem to be viewing it as a swimming pool at a luxury resort ... going for a dip and then getting on with their day!!! [:@][:@][:@]

I'm going to have to try that. J-8 snuck candy into her room and now all three girls had to suffer with ants. I made her clean up the mess with water and I later sprayed bug spray. I didn't want her to be around the chemicals. She hates the smell and taste of vinegar, so I think I'll make her use that to clean it next time. Might encourage her to learn her lesson! KWIM?

That's awesome, Lacey. I like to bake too. Once, we had a progressive dinner, and I was doing part of the desserts. I didn't know how many people we were expecting, so I made a profiterole mound and it stood about 2 feet high. Despite giving so many of them away, we were eating them for about a week. Never again! [:o] They were still very tasty though. [8D][:)]

I love baking, cooking, anything in the kitchen. I don't even mind doing the dishes and the rest of the clean-up.
