What kind of cake was it Holly? Ginny, I'm glad your dad is OK. I hope your mom and dad can enjoy each other's company for a good long amount of time still. Maggie, thanks for sharing about camp! I went to camp when I was a kid; I mostly remember being homesick. A few years ago on vacation we needed a place to spend the night so we pulled into a state park. In this park was one of the camps I attended as a young girl! The A-frame cabins were still there and unused when we arrived, so we had a look around. Supper sounds good Barb. Not enough people around here this week to cook much. OK by me. Leah, I'm glad the surgery isn't bothering Garrett much. Too bad he didn't want to take a nap. I need more naps than my 4yo. What's up with that? Dee

{{{{{{{{Barb}}}}}}}}} . . . how well I remember those 'bad mom' days. But, looking from the other side of things now, I can easily say it was all worth it -- every single nasty remark, every roll of the eyes, everything there friends might have been (and probably were) saying about my kids' horribly abusive parents . . . yep, it was worth it. I can honestly say that both my kids made it thru school with out using (or I think even trying) alcohol or drugs, and I honestly think they enjoyed their high school years enough. Now they are both responsible young adults, one of them real close to having teenagers of her own to contend with, and I think they've learned a lot about what it means to be a loving parent -- one who loves them enough to enforce discipline in spite of what the world around them is doing or saying. That is a hard thing to do, I know. But oh so worth it. And yeah, I remember how exhausting it can be We had a really good rain last night, and it did cool things off a bit. It's 75 now, but supposed to get to 90 today . . . thank you, Lord, for air conditioning! And I truly mean that. I went to the gym this morning, got back home around 8:00. Had offered to pick Garrett up while i was in town, but daddy said he was bringing him a little late cuz he's gonna be here a little late. Fine with me -- had time to get home and take a shower before he got here. Now I need to get to sewing again.

Hi everyone! The morning newspaper was PINK this morning--every single page. Do you know how hard it is to read a pink newspaper? Sheesh! However, the world is gathering in Winnipeg for a conference on Breast Cancer and so this is to help bring attention to the need for more research. Ten cents of each paper sold is being donated. It's a cool idea. Apparently it's the first newspaper in North America to do something like this.

You're welcome. What came to mind when you asked your question was what I see served with hot sandwiches in places like Perkins. My gallbladder is definitely ready to come out. I met a friend for tea because she's got a new business selling a special kind of chocolate that supposedly has therapeutic properties--specifically antidepressant and appetite suppresent (and lowering blood pressure but that doesn't interest me). She sells three different products and brought one of each for me to try. Now I feel really icky. Something in my digestive tract is very unhappy. Maybe that's how it suppresses appetite, lol! Seriously, she's totally bought into this product and is very excited about it. She's intelligent and very level-headed so I have to give her some credibility even though I'm VERY skeptical about miracle products. Her husband has lost 7 pounds in the last week and has been able to reduce his blood pressure meds. She thinks he also has more energy and is more productive. If it's all true, it would be a useful thing to use. And it's done with CHOCOLATE and not some icky-tasting powder or something (though she says I should go buy some whey protein powder to have each day between now and my surgery to improve and speed up the healing afterwards--I'll probably pass on that one). There's no point in me buying any chocolate now, before my surgery, because that would be too many changes at once and if there's improvement, how would I know what contributed to that. So I'll wait until I'm better and then order a half case and give it a try. The reason it's supposed to be so good is because of the unusually high anti-oxidant level due to special processing. If you're curious, check out www.divinechocolatetherapy.com

Barb, it's great your husband backs you up about rules. Mine didn't. He kept breaking with the kids when they were teens every rule I made. The kids in turn didn't respect me and did think I was the baddie. My daughter thought so too until she became pregnant at 15 then she told me she understood why I was trying to set down the rules. She is being like me with her boys not like her dad. And I still have a teenager that hubby lets do things. Fortunately for me, my 15 year old isn't as rebellious as his brothers and sister were. And he keeps busy with his sports. I'm am very tired. Been running errands during lunch breaks so I don't get a break during the day and then I come home to more stuff to do. I am finally taking a break but have to go to the store still. I am out of my thyroid meds and I need to pick a new script up tonight if I am going to take my medicine in the morning. For supper we had barbecue pork. I cooked it on the grill, corn on the cob and green beans, and garlic bread. DS2 came by while I was cooking the pork saw we were having a cook-out meal so he asked if he could join us. I said no problem there was plenty. I very rarely feed this son and was glad to. His wife is at school tonight. Well Friday is the big day. Our court meeting with the creditors is Friday. Hope it goes well. I am glad it has been busy at work cause I've hadn't had time to become anxious. Ginny

I'll be praying about your court appearance, Ginny. I hope that once this is done, you don't see the inside of a court again for 20 years! (or more)

Good morning, Barb . . . have fun getting your hair done and shopping for baby gifts! I get my hair cut at the salon, but I always color it myself. It grows really fast, and I couldn't afford for the salon to keep the gray covered. Much cheaper (and easier) to buy the $3 box of color and do it myself, and I get compliments on the color all the time. It really is good color -- Revlon. It's sunny & hot here today. 76 so far, but feels hotter than that when I'm outside painting . . . I'm finally getting my metal cabinet painted. Decided to paint it the same 'Pink Grapefruit' (peach) color as the only other thing in that room that isn't white -- the set in wall-shelf. I had a gallon of teh paint, so decided to make good use of it. I'm also going out in a few minutes to plant the only plant that didnt' get put in the pot or in the ground the other day -- we forgot it. It's a perennial -- Sweet Willams, in a dark red color. My flower beds are looking great! They like all the rain we've had. Then I'll get started back on my sewing again. Got another order yesterday, but finished all the others with the exception of one small, 5-minute job -- got interrupted yesterday before I could finish it. Then maybe I can actually get started on some of my own stuff. Have some things I need to hem, cut off, take up in the sides etc.

Nope, not letting the grey show. I may not look like much, but I will continue to do what I can to look as good as I can Yeah, Barb, I had a hard time finding color that matched my natural color. This really doesn't quite, but it's close, and since my 'natural color' would be gray now, I really don't want to "match" it . . . I finally started buying this about 8 or 9 years ago -- made sure at first to buy the "ash" shades cuz htey don't have any red in them. But now I just buy Light Brown in Revlon's Color Silk and it works really well. A customer came a while ago to pick up his order and talked on & on & on! Sheesh!! But it was okay -- he was talking mostly about his dogs, and I do love dog stories . . . Actually, he had dropped the order off while I was gone Saturday, and Bill said he talked quite long then too, but he also enjoyed it. In fact, Bill came home as he was leaving and asked him if he was in a hurry -- think he had something he was going to show him. Bill got home early, and didn't want supper right away -- just as well cuz I hadn't started it yet . . so he's outside for a bit and I guess I'll go in and start our salmon patties and mac & cheese soon. Anyone else have mac & cheese as a side dish for fish?? Maggie thought that was an odd combination, but that's what we've always had with fish Wonder if we're gonna get your t-storms, Dee . . . it's been quite breezy here all day and overcast at times, but no rain.

It's my MOM who bugs me about my hair colour. I guess it doesn't look so good for her when her daughter has greying hair (she colours hers)!

Fish and macaroni and cheese and peas is usually the combination I have. Supper tonight was pizza. I was too tired to cook. My sister-in-law died this afternoon. My daughter called seems my oldest son is going to be a parent again. His new girlfriend is pregnant. She has 4 kids already, he has one. My son is excited. Hubby and I umm...I'll keep silent on this one. Barb, hubby would tell the kids they didn't have to obey my rules and they wouldn't. It was frustrating. No, he didn't help with the rules either, he broke them. Ginny

{{{{{{{{{GINNY}}}}}}}}} . . . I'm so sorry to hear about your sil . . . had she been sick? Is this your brother's wife or on your husband's side? We had salmon patties, mac & cheese and stewed tomatoes . . hubby's choice. It was all very good. I got my sewing caught up today except for the new order I'd just rec'd yesterday, so I took time to cut off and hem some of my cooler capris. The heat has been tremendous here already. I dread to think what July & August are going to bring us.
